We spent 16 hours traveling yesterday, most of it on California freeways and on tarmacs, and weren’t able to get you our usual Monday morning reports. So, before we give you more on this weekend’s AKC/Eukanuba National Championship event, let’s go to the other shows this weekend.
We did tell you that the number one Hound in the US, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Rokeena Carte Blanche, was not in L:ong Beach, but in Orlando FL, taking the top prize at Friday’s Space Coast Kennel Club Of Palm Bay show. Mildred Bryant also considered the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Star K's Mile Hi Valentine, the Great Dane, CH Raintree Erinwood Dixie Magic Dragon, the Norwich Terrier, CH Maystar's Coast To Coast, the Pug, CH Norkus' Risky Business, the Chow Chow, CH Kelin's There Can Be Only One, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Sunburst One Cool Dude.
Saturday in Orlando the Central Florida Kennel Club and Rita Holloway took over. The PBGV, CeeJay, made it back to Saturday’s final as did the Dane and Norwich. Ms Holloway also saw the Labrador Retriever, CH Salty Dog Of Tampa Bay, the Maltese, CH Chrisman's Kiss This, the Standard Poodle, CH Gulfbreeze 'Absolutely Knot', and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams. Her Best was the nation’s number one Herding Dog, the Puli, Conrad.
Sunday’s Brevard Kennel Club BIS fell to William Usherwood. His super seven were the two previous BIS winners, the PBGV and the Puli, the abovementioned Dane & Chow, the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Bracon's Leapin Lily Pads, the Skye Terrier, CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Hickoryridge Tartan Pride. Taking home the big win was the country’s number one Skye Terrier.
Congratulation’s to breeders/owners Eugene Z Zaphiris & Matthew H Stander, and handler Larry Cornelius.
