The largest cluster of the past week is the last to report in. They held four shows, Thursday through Sunday, in Helena MT last week.

CH Pupukearidge Ikaika O Sprngvly

Thursday’s & Friday’s shows came courtesy of the Gallatin Dog Club. On the first day it was Neil Graves gathering the initial seven, the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Signature Of Telltale RN D, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Pupukearidge Ikaika O Sprngvly, the Akita, CH Mojo’s Rock’N Your World, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Allaruth Solebay Chipotgoldblok, the Affenpinscher, CH Tamarin Tug, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Guthries How Sweet It Is, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber. Day one went to the Ridgeback, Ikaika, his third this year.

Friday, Ikaika, the Springer, Akita, & Bouvier were back for a second attempt with BIS judge Judy Webb. Also asking for a look were the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Casey’s Blue Mountain Promise, the Pekingese, CH Dunkirk;s I’m Gonna Live Forever, and the Bulldog, CH Calee’s the Skye Is The Limit. As we had reported it was Beep Lee with the Akita, Coupe, taking home the top prize.

Saturday, some of the players would opt for other locations and shows, but the Ridgeback, Thursday’s Miniature Schnauzer, and Friday’s Bulldog would stay to try their luck with Patricia Trotter, who also had the choice of the Golden Retriever, CH Rush Hill’s River Road Payoff, the Great Pyrenees, CH Pyrpressure L’Orgueil, the Pomeranian, CH Finch’s You’re So Special Nblk, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Iona I Can Shine.

BIS on day one of the Helena Montana Kennel Club went to the Miniature Schnauzer, the first by the breed this year. Congratulations to breeders/owners Yvonne B Phelps & Ruth Ziegler and handler Bergit H Kabel.

CH Pyrpressure L’Orgueil

Sunday, assembled for Letitia Bett were Saturday’s BIS winner, the Schnauzer, Saturday finalist, the Pyrenees, and the Friday finalist, the Peke. Rounding out the seven were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Mountain View’s Mr, Jack SH, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Afterglow Ebeneezer, the Dalmatian, CH Xanadu’s Angel Sabrina, and the Bearded Collie, CH Brigadoon Showstopper At Scott.

The final day would belong to the Pyrenees, Pride. Pride just won his first all breed BIS. Now he has two. Not bad for a dog whose owners were once told to prepare themselves for the fact that Pride would never win a BIS. Yes, it is OK to grin from ear to ear.

  1. Huge congratulations to Pride and his breeder/owner/handler! They are an inspiration to all of the "regular" people who still dare to dream big in the world of dog shows!

  2. Huge congrats from a fellow breeder owner handler who has also been told I might win a Specialty and Groups, but I'd need a handler for a BIS. Where's the fun and self satisfaction in that!

  3. This is what dog shows are really about!
