A DOG SHOW FEAST

Reporting on this week’s Salem VA cluster, we feel like we have just worked our way through a sumptuous five course meal, five days of the best that dogdom has to offer.

CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton

The New River Valley Kennel Club offered up our dessert course today with Bonnie Linnell Clarke judging. Her final included five top 15 dogs. The final seven were the Irish Setter, CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Dun Myrica Speaker Of Eagle, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Standard Poodle, CH Dawin Spitfire, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams.

The extraordinary story of the weekend is the riveting performance of the Doberman, CJ, and handler Carissa DeMilta Shimpeno. Reader after reader told us that they had rarely seen such intensity in the ring, “She never put a foot wrong”, “She looked right through you”. Today, for the fourth time this week, CJ and Carissa accepted a BIS rosette.

In the end it was the dog show going public that was the week’s big winner. It was the most celebrated gathering since Westminster and there were five consecutive final rings. It was truly a canine World Series.
