GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk

With five all breed shows this week Lexington KY has drawn many of our Top 100 Dogs.  Yesterday’s Northern Kentucky Kennel Club final saw judge Elizabeth Muthard in the final ring with the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazr’N Wingfield Time Will Tell, the Black & Tan Coonhound, CH Foxfire Full Force Gale, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro's Witching Hour, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Bells Will Be Ringing, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

It was the Bichon, Honor, taking the BIS, and the Coonhound, Molly, with the RBIS.  Honor is the nation’s Number Two Non-Sporting Dog with 11 BIS and 60 Non-Sporting Groups.

DAY TWO IN UNION ME

This holiday weekend is the busiest of the show season, with 45 all breed shows in 15 different locations.  There are 15 shows today alone.  Before we get into today’s results, let’s wrap up the Friday events.  Friday was day two in Union ME for the Central Maine Kennel Club. 

 Judge Judy Harrington’s seven hopefuls were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Tempest’s MO Quinsigamond RN CGC, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Charthill Top Billing, the Havanese, GCH Fuzzy Farm Qbin Who’s On First, the Standard Poodle, CH Ale Kai The Beat Goes On Fifth, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bordalace Flash N Dash.

Collecting the top awards were the IWS, Riley, who took the BIS, and the Border Collie, Flash, who accepted the RBIS.  Riley, the Number Three Sporting Dog, has been collecting BIS  like box tops lately and now has 13 BIS and a Top Ten All Breeds berth.

DAY ONE IN NEW JERSEY

Fanciers from the New York metro area have gathered in Augusta NJ for the four shows  offered by the Newton Kennel Club, the Sussex Hills Kennel Club, and the Schooley's Mountain Kennel Club this weekend.  First up was the NKC who asked Joan Scott to choose her top two dogs.  Her options were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Steadmore’s Take a Gander, the Treeing Walker Coonhound, GCH CH Alexanders Gold Rush Xcetera, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic’s Mojo, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Highwood's Whirling Dun, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Sakura, the Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Celebration.

Finishing one/two were the Poodle, Sakura, and the Sammie, Mojo.  It’s the eighth BIS in 29 final attempts this year for Sakura and handler Kaz Hosaka.

Our first Friday show report comes in from Raleigh NC where the Alamance Kennel Club opened the four day Tarheel Labor Day Cluster.  Judge Jackie Stacy had the first final and her choice of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, GCH CH Pikkinokka's Lightning Bug, the Whippet, GCH DC Ableaim Que The Music MC, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Deerhaven Hez Justin Kredible At Orion, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee Easily Persuaded, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy of Merivern.

Taking the BIS was the PWD, Matisse.  Accepting the Reserve, the GSD, Galaxy.  The country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, Matisse, has more BIS than any other dog this year, 57.

The long weekend offers a variety of multiple days venues.  The longest in Lexington KY where the Lexington Kennel Club, the Northern Kentucky Kennel Club, and the Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club have teamed up for five shows.  With better than 5300 dogs entered, the Bluegrass Classic has drawn dozens of our Top 100 Dogs All Breeds.

The LKC opened the cluster on Thursday and put judge Gary Newton in the final ring with the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Foxwoods Dublin Diva, the Longhaired Dachshund,  GCH CH Sweetgrass Johann Tipper, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor “ to Pillowtalk, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

Taking the top two prizes were the Giant, Dora, and the Bichon, Honor.   Dora has spent the summer climbing up the rankings and is now the nation’s Number Four Dog All Breeds with 18 BIS and 46 Working Groups.
