Our last report from the May Day weekend comes in from Pomona CA where the Rio Hondo Kennel Club hosted two shows. Judge Kitty Steidel had the Saturday final and her choice of the English Setter, GCH CH Esthete Topsails Vjk London BN RN OA OAJ NF, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Aspenrepublik Into The Wind, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH D'Lacie's Baroness Von Purple Rain RN CA CGC, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome’s Home Run For Nirvana, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Sabe's Simply Invincible, and the Polish Landlow Sheepdog, GCH CH Stonebrook’s For Your Eyes Only.

Best went to the Setter, London, and Reserve to the Schnauzer, JJ. It was the first BIS for London. Congratulations to breeders/owners Lanore Matter & Jill Warren, co-breeder Valerie Nunes-Atkinson, owner Jennifer Necker, and handler Carlos Carrizzo.

The above named Standard Schnauzer and Pug, would both return to the final ring on Sunday along with the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Vjk-Myst Garbonita's California Journey, the Basenji, Jasiri-Sukari High Win Warning, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Round Town Queen of Hearts of Maryscot, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Rufkins Hunk Of Burnin Love, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Wynsilot Man N A Grey Flannel Suit.

Judge Faye Strauss would name the Scottie, Queenie, BIS and the OES, Crosby, her RBIS. Queenie, daughter of 2009’s Number One Dog All Breeds, CH Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, has four BIS in 11 trips to the final ring. She is AKC’s Number One Scottish Terrie and the Number Two Terrier.

Our Monday Morning Mop Up finds us slogging through the last of the May Day weekend’s reports. From Tres Pinos CA we have the results of the Gavilan Kennel Club’s two shows. Saturday ended with judge Ann Redmer in the final ring with the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Blazen Spellbounds Wonder Woman, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s Daggarwood Delight, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviator Lady’s Man de Remis, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Hubbestad Wee Marius, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Genkis Blue Moon, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline's Unit Of Measure, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CHC Wind Spirit Rod's Amazing Grace.

Her BIS was the Keeshond, Cubit, and her RBIS, the Aussie, Grace. Cubit is the nation’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog and the Number 15 Dog All Breeds with four BIS and 23 Group Ones.

Cubit and Grace would be back in the final ring Sunday along with the above named PWD. Joining them were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Brookshire’s Croak N Dagger, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Badgershill Muldoon Of Heather, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Dynasty’s Br Donald Rockfeller, and the Pug, GCH CH Pocket’s Jato Jetliner.

Judge Adrian Woodfork’s Best was the Pug, Jato, and her Reserve, the PWD, Manly. It was the first of the year for Jato. Congratulations to breeders/owners Rosemary Robles & Jane Bale-Woodside, owner Wayne M Woodside, and handler Luke Seidlitz.

OLYMPIA DOG FANCIERS

We go to the Pacific Northwest for our next report. The Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Jimmy Choo, made the most of the Olympia Dog Fanciers Association’s two shows in Elma WA, taking back2back BIS.

On May 1st, Jimmy, impressed judge Dr Judith Newton more than did the RBIS, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill's Drama'Geddon JH, who impressed her more than did the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peace River's Gathers No Moss At Sunstra, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Sierra’s Ground Zero, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian Jp Rose Queen, the Bulldog, GCH CH Wilson’s I’m Your Handyman, and the Norwegian Buhund, GCH CH Jotunn Bella Binna.

Jimmy would be the only of Saturday’s finalists to make it to Dr Alvin Krause’s final on Sunday. He was joined by the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Shasta’s Western Samurai, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Mooncusser’s Covert Affair BN RN, the White Bull terrier, CH Lordbull Larry, the Pug, GCH CH Anmar’s Just Like A Woman, the RBIS, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Kumi Kian Strike A Pose, and the Beauceron, GCH CH De Joie Du Chateau Rocher CA. 

The wins were the first BIS of the year for Jimmy. Congratulations to breeder/owner Lori Lawrence, co-breeders Carey Lawrence & Nicole Lawrence, owners Susan & David Laws & Kellie Padon, and owner/handler Lori Wilson.

We don’t get many shows in the Mountain Time Zone, but when we do everyone comes out.  The Intermountain Kennel Club and the Utah Valley Kennel Club hosted four shows April 30th through May 3rd, drawing top dogs from all over the US.

Thursday’s IKC finalists were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Lexxfield Stonybeck Bob, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Dacher’s Rock and Roll, the West Highland White Terrier, Trueheart’s Courage Danny Barker, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Ta Sen Swinging On A Star, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

Taking the day one Best was the Brittany, Beckett.  Reserve went to the Portie, Camp.  Beckett is the nation’s Number One Sporting Dog and the Number Four Dog All Breeds with 12 BIS and 32 Sporting Groups.

Beckett would return to the final ring for Friday IKC show along with the aforementioned Lhasa and GSD.  Joining them were the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Soletrader Zee Or Zed, the  Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH  Wolfmountain’s Warhammer, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Imaginabull’s First Edition, and the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitime What the Inferno.  Judge Bonnie Linnell Clarke’s BIS was the Pom, Danny and her RBIS was the GSD, Rumor.

The only new comer judge Charlotte Patterson would see at Saturday’s UVKC show was the Bichon Frise, GCH CH GCH CH Kman's Miss Fancy Pants , who was joined by the returning Brittany, PBGV, Malamute, MiniBull, Pom, and GSD.  Best went to Rumor the GSD, and Reserve to Beckett, the Brittany.  Rumor is the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds with 27 BIS and 56 Herding Groups.

At Sunday’s UVKC closer BIS judge would consider the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Ocoee Away We Go,  the above named PBGV, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH GCH CH Excelsia's This Side Of Paradise, the now familiar  Brittany, PBGV, MiniBull, Pom, and GSD.

The Pom, Danny, would collect his second BIS of the set and Rumor, the GSD, would add another RBIS to her BIS win.  Danny is AKC’s Number One Toy Dog and Number Two Dog All Breeds with 13 BIS and 37 Toy Groups.

Next we head to Marshall TX for the Caddo Kennel Club of Texas two shows on May 2nd & 3rd. Judge Larry Abbott had the day one final and his choice of the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Emery’s White Out, the Saluki, GCH CH Starlite's Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN JC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado's Hallelujah CA CGC, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Roserock’s Atticus Finch, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Destiny, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Kimik’s Who Dunnit, and the Border Collie, GCH CH C Amo Jin Of Fu You Yuan Kennel.

It was Jin, the Border Collie from China taking the BIS and Clue, the Tibetan Terrier from Louisiana, picking up the RBIS. It was the first AKC BIS for the multi-BIS winning Jin. Congratulations to breeder Jing Li, owners Jennifer Mosing & Feng Jin, and handler Brian Livingston.

Sunday BIS judge Jon Cole would see the same Golden, Norwich, & Border Collie, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Farao Anubis Inferno BN RN SC, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Shalimar’s Tribute To Gone With The Wind, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH The Siren of the Sea ByRequest.

He would name the Norwich, Finch, his Best and the Golden, Slate, his Reserve. It was the third BIS in 11 trips to the final ring this year for Finch and handler Brenda Combs.

THREE DAYS IN JEFFERSON WI

Jefferson WI was the site of the Badger Kennel Club’s and the Janesville-Beloit Kennel Club’s three shows May1st-3rd.  The BKC had the opening shot and BIS judge Evie Sullivan had a final seven of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Kamtera's Legato, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Taliesin Twice As Nice, the Papillon, GCH CH Wingsong Singular Sensation, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Ri Lee’s Diamond Hunter, and the Australian Shepherd, Integrity’s Honest Pleasure.

Finishing one/two were the Doberman, Legato, and the Whippet, Brazen.  It was the second this year for Legato and breeder/owner/handler Kathy Moats.

The JBKC took over on Saturday choosing judge Houston Clark for the final ring.  The seven dogs he considered were the returning Springer & Whippet, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Tugar's Taking On Tyson, the above named Norwich, the Maltese, CH Martin’s Huggys Rocket Bear Puff, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante Wildfire, and the Old English sheepdog, GCH CH Barkshire’s Uncle Sam.

BIS was the Whippet, Brazen, and RBIS was the Malamute, Tyson.  Brazen is the country’s Number One Hound with nine BIS and 36 Hound Groups.

The BKC’s Sunday encore saw judge James Frederiksen in the final ring with the Irish setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, the Saluki, GCH CH Baghdad A Missdemeanor, the Doberman, Legato, the now familiar Norwich, aforementioned Papillon, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Ti La Shu U Make Me Happy For Gemms, and the previously seen OES.

The Irish Setter, Torrey, walked away with the BIS and the Papillon, Uno, scampered away with the RBIS.  It was the first for Torrey this year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Ginny Swanson ,owners Sue & Larry Hassler, and handler Douglas A Carlson.

The last of the family visitors have left and we can return to our keyboard and loose ourselves in our backlog of show reports.  We start with the results from the Rolla Missouri Kennel Club, the Spirit of the Heartland Kennel Club, and the Jefferson County Kennel Club of Missouri shows May 1st through 3rd at Purina Farms in Grey Summit MO outside of St Louis.

The RMKC was first up on Friday and they put judge Loraine Boutwell in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence CGC, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants on Fire, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow’s Tiarra From Schwestrn, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation.

She chose the Kuvasz, Tanner, as her Best In Show and the Bloodhound, Nathan , as her Reserve.  We have not seen Tanner, the winningest Kuvasz, in AKC history with 55 career BIS, since 2013.  Six year old Tanner was shown to the win by breeder/owner Lynn Brady.   Congratulations to Lynn, breeder/owner Constance Townsend, co-breeders Bea & Clay Page, and owners Mercedes Vila & Claudia Muir.

The Bloodhound, Nathan, the Border Terrier, Cinder, and the OES, Andrew would all return to the final ring at Saturday’s SHKC show.  Joining them were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Forever’s All Jacked Up CGC, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Katon's Eye Of The Tiger V Morgenwald, the Pug, GCH CH Careva's Boodelicious, and the French Bulldog, GCH CH Qazara Ti Amo.

Judge Tim Catterson’s BIS was the Pug, Buddha, and his RBIS was the OES, Andrew.  It was the first of the year for Buddha in trips to the final ring.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Patt Kolesar-Stoltz, co-breeders Patti Nash & Michelle MacRae, owners Mary Henricks & Rick Stoltz, and handler Erin Henlon-Hall.

Judge James White would close it on Sunday for the JCKCM.  His seven options were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Jus Strike It Rich, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the Border Terrier, Cinder, the Papillon, GCH CH Fenice Le Beaudreaux, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowat’s the Gladiator, and the OES, Andrew.

Best went to the Swiss, Gus, and Reserve to Cinder, the Border Terrier.  Gus is the country’s Number Eight Working Dog with four BIS in 29 final appearances this year.

GCH CH Hampton Court Broxden What In Carnation 

In 2010 Amy Rodrigues campaigned the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Number One Dog all Breeds that year. At the Crawford County Kennel Club’s two shows in Bucyrus OH on May 2nd and 3rd she showed Dodger’s daughter, GCH CH Hampton Court Broxden What In Carnation, to back2back BIS. 

On Saturday, Debbie, was judge Dr Daniel Cowling’s BIS and the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, was his RBIS. Rounding out the final were the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Saranac Toblerone, the Samoyed, GCH CH White Eagle's The Sky's The Limit For Alpineglo, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Artistry’s Cole Train, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Barberry’s Take A Chance On Me, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Beaguile’s Suit Up. 

GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory 

Judge Rodney Herner would see it the same way, naming Debbie and Vicki his top two on Sunday, after considering the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Be-Fit’s Grand Lover Boy, the aforementioned Samoyed, the Maltese, GCH CH Limited Edition Of Snow County Kr, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Enchanted Hart Down N Dirty, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Shadomoon’s The Competitive Edge RN CA. 

Debbie is the nation’s Number One Smooth Fox Terrier, and Number Two Terrier with four BIS and eight Terrier Groups this year.

OCONEE RIVER KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Pequest General Tso 

The Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, marched through Georgia earlier this month, picking up back2back BIS at the Oconee River Kennel Club‘s two shows in Watkinsville GA. On May 2nd judge Jacqueline Stacy preferred The General to her RBIS, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Bell, who she preferred to the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Celtic Lores Moonlight And Magic CGC, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Paragon's Absolutely Entertaining O'Kristari, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Crossroads Bad To The Bone, and the Briard, GCH CH Ne Orageux's Flash Point.

The following day, judge Luc Boileau would see the same way naming The General and Annabelle, the Bulldog, his top two while the Pointer, GCH CH Solivia’s Champagne Taste, the above named Ridgeback, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Shana’s Blue Bayou, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Morningstar Bourban St Chieftain, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Ceilidh's Deep River Haute Couture, looked on. The two wins brought the Number Toy Dog’s 2015 resume to ten BIS and 35 Toy Groups this year.
