OAKLAND COUNTY KENNEL CLUB



GCH CH Gordon’s Bite of the Apple

If you couldn’t be here in Portland OR trying to get a piece of the action, the next biggest prize was in Novi MI.  Here’s what’s been happening the last two days.

On Saturday the Oakland County Kennel Club put Tim Catterson in the final ring with the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazr'n Wingfield Time Will Tell, an Afghan Hound from the classes, Xandali Bon Vivant, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Finnegan’s Wake, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Gordon’s Bite of the Apple, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Bells Will Be Ringing, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante Fire When Ready HOF, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy.

The two he liked were the Afghan Hound and the Wire Fox.  The 20 Month old Afghan takes home almost 1800 points and a shot at be a major player this year.  Congratulations to breeders Floyd Gale Jr, Anthony A Saia, & Lex Robertson, owners Charles Fairleigh & Lex Robertson, and handler Lisa Bettis.

GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara

Only Willy, the Shih Tzu, would return on Sunday to see BIS judge Dana Cline.  Also pleasing their case were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc N Camelot's Heaven Can Wait, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Avatars Smooth Criminal, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Icelandic Sheepdog, GCH CH Bjarkarkots Hroi Hottur Luke MX AXJ OF.

GCH CH Doc N Camelot's Heaven Can Wait

The ones who were heard were the Saluki, Bubbles, who got the  BIS, and the Weimaraner, Nash, who got the RBIS.  Bubbles finished 2012 as the Number One Saluki and Number Five Hound with nine BIS and 53 Hound Groups.  Congratulations to breeder Kathleen Morton, owners Sandra Middlebrooks, Jackie Harrington, & Sara Winsted, and handler Erin Roberts.

FLORIDA MARATHON DAY EIGHT



GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare

Before we retire for the evening, let’s check in with the sites we have not heard from.  The Florida Marathon completed leg two today with the Pasco Florida Kennel Club show in Ocala FL and the MinPin from Florida, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare recorded her second consecutive BIS of the year.

CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvy

James Reynolds’ Reserve was the Puli, CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvy.  You may remember another Cordmaker Puli, CH Cordmaker Field of Dreams, was the Number Three Dog All Breeds in 2009.  Like this one, that one was owned by Susan Huebner & Jackie Beaudoin, and is handled by Michael & Linda Pitts.

Also in James Reynolds final were the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, GCH CH Pikkinokka's Lightning Bug, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Doberman Pinscher,GCH  CH Protocol's Veni Vidi Vici, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Nanhalls Koichi Hikel Terrydale, and the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing's Tenzin.

The win will catapult Classie into the top of the rankings.  We expect to have a new Top Ten for you by Wednesday.  Who else will tell you who’s on top this week?  No one!

Monica Canestrini had the closer here in Portland OR this afternoon and seven spectacular dogs to choose her top two from.  They were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dreamcatcher Major Victory Of Loki, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, Toy Poodle, GCH CH Sharbelle Greg-Mar International Boy, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Double Vision, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Kensington's Artful Dodger.

Her choice for the Reserve ribbon was the Wire Fox, Sky, and her Best In Show went to the Clumber, Seymour.   Seymour, who had a BIS winning career in Colombia before arriving in the US, had seven BIS and 31 Sporting groups in 2012.  Additionally since his last BIS in September, Seymour has logged four RBIS.   Seymour leaves Portland as one of the country’s top ranked dogs.  Will he make it into the Top Ten?  Check back with us mid-week and we’ll tell you.

CARROLL KENNEL CLUB DAY TWO



GCH CH Yakee Easily Persuaded

Before we head over to the Portland Expo Center for the Rose City Classic closer, we want to give you a couple more reports from Saturday.  First from West Friendship MD and the Carroll Kennel Club, we hear that Pekingese specialist David Fitzpatrick newest protégé, GCH CH Yakee Easily Persuaded, collected their first BIS of the new year.

David and Rodger were joined in Robert Frost’s final by the Irish Setter, GCH CH Erinfyr Sports Talk, the RBIS, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Great Dane, GCH CH Seamus Lord of the Dance, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act of Hallsblu, the Bichon Frise, CH L’Etoile It’s all About Me, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger.

Shown sparingly in 2012, Rodger still managed three BIS and 22 Toy Groups.  We hope to see this one get around the US so all can see him.  Congratulations to David, breeder Albert Easdon, and owner Sandra Middlebrooks.

Terry Stacy found the 2012 Number Six Dog All Breeds among the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Greyhound, CH GrandCru Caymus, his RBIS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Bulldog, GCH CH Mytoys Epic Against The Wind, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

The MinPin, Classie, finished 2013 with 30 BIS and 102 (that’s right 102) Toy Groups.  Congratulations to breeder Carole A Mohr-Rio, and owners Leah Monte & Armando Angelbello.
