CHENANGO VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession

We are getting spotty results from the shows in Bainbridge NY.  While we have not heard much about yesterday’s Kanadasaga Kennel Club, we do have results from today’s Chenango Valley Kennel Club show and they are, in a word, historic.

The 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession, collected her 41st career BIS, breaking the record for the  breed set by the 13" Beagle, CH Landbur Miss Fleetwood.  Also on hand in Edward Hall’s final were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Gosling's Reel Deal, the Rottweiler, GCH CH D'Oro Solido's Feliciano Uno, the Cairn Terrier, CH Hampton Court Pick Pocket, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Cin-Don On The Road Again, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight's Ruffian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

Lola and breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas have charmed their way across the US these past three years.  We hope you get a chance to see the two of them.  Congratulations to Marcelo and fellow breeder/owner Alessandra Botelho, and co-owner Marco Flavio.

HAVE YOUR DOG & EAT IT TOO!

Exhibitors will have ample opportunity to show their dogs and still take the Fourth off to grill some dogs.  In addition to the big Oklahoma City cluster, there are three other sites offering four day clusters this week.

New Englanders will be in Wrentham MA starting Thursday for the Wampanoag Kennel Club & the Hockamock Kennel Club’s four shows.  New Yorkers will head up state for four shows, three in Bainbridge with the Kanadasaga Kennel Club, the Chenango Valley Kennel Club, & the Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club.  To get to the fourth show fanciers will have to motor the half hour west Sunday to  Whitney Point NY where the Susque-Nango Kennel Club will be set up.  In the Mid Atlantic the Potomac Hound Club will warm up Thursday for the Southern Maryland Kennel Club & the Rock Creek Kennel Club in Bel Alton MD, the only site holding a show on the Monday holiday.

In the Great Lakes region, there’s two shows in Vandergrift PA hosted by the Bushy Run Kennel Club, three shows in Lima OH courtesy of the Sandusky Kennel Club, the Dayton Kennel Club, & the Lima Kennel Club, and in West Bend WI with the Kettle Moraine Kennel Club.  Rocky Mountain Time Zone exhibitors will have the option of staying local for the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club’s two shows in Loveland CO.

For once west coast fanciers will have a full contingent of shows.  In Southern California rub elbows with celebrities at the Kennel Club Of Beverly Hills & Long Beach Kennel Club’s two shows in Long Beach or head to a totally different California in Ferndale where the redwoods are older than Declaration of Independence for the Lost Coast Kennel Club Of California’s to shows.  The Mount Bachelor Kennel Club will set up Friday and stay for three days in Redmond OR while the Bell Vernon Kennel Association will hold their two shows in Mount Vernon WA.

So make a long weekend it of it, visit an AKC show, and still enjoy the fireworks on the Fourth.

With over 800 dogs entered each day, this was a great opportunity for both exhibitors chasing majors and campaigners hoping to pick up scarce Terrier points.  Raymond Bay’s top dog on Saturday was the Welsh Terrier, CH Saredon It Had To Be You.  Rounding out the placements were the Norwich Terrier, CH Waiterock Jack Falstaff, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine's Highwayman,  and the Cairn Terrier, Rocco's Collar King Carl XVI Gustaf, in that order.  It's the first AKC BIS for Daisy, a recent British import.  Congratulations to breeder.
