NEW JERSEY RESULTS

GCH CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed

We have been inundated all day with well meaning relatives who are concerned about our current medical condition.  While we do appreciate the sudden interest, we would rather be reporting show results.  And we still are not changing the will.

From Augusta NJ and the Palisades Kennel Club we hear that the nation’s Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Irish Setter, GCH CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, was Gregory A Anderson’s BIS today/  Among the other finalist were the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Bernese Mountain Dog.  GCH CH Liebenhund's Who's Your Daddy, the Border Terrier, CH Meadowlake Overnight  Celebrity, the Pekingese, CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Bulldog, GCH CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

Emily and handler Adam Bernardin have been pulling big BIS out of the hat all year, just to keep it interesting at the top of the rankings.  This was their 31st this season.

MEET THE BREEDS IN NYC

If you are near New York City this weekend, don’t miss the American Kennel Club and Cat Fanciers Association’s masterful collaboration, Meet The Breeds.  It’s two days of the best pet education and dazzling animal beauty.   It’s all at the Jacob Javits Center on 11th Ave between 35th & 36th Streets.   There will be breed booths where the public can get up close & personal with the best that the AKC & CFA have to offer.  You won’t get a better opportunity to ask breed experts about the history & characteristics of their breeds.  There will also be over 100 vendor booths with just about everything for pets and their owners.  Don‘t miss the five demonstration rings featured law enforcement K9s, grooming, agility, obedience and the ‘Cat Idol’ showcase.  You get read more on the AKC's site.

We applaud the National Breed Clubs and individuals who have taken the time out from their show schedules to participate in the event.  It’s not easy to schlep all that stuff to Manhattan and spend all day.  These folks are real ambassadors for their breeds.

WE GOT A MILLION OF 'EM!

We’ve been so  busy trying to keep up with all the excitement in the AKC dog show world, we have just missed a major milestone.  We have passed the 1,000,000 page view marker here at Dog Show Poop.  Because we don’t get paid to do this we don’t pay a lot of attention to our blog statistics, but when we checked today we found that we have had visitors from six continents, 161 countries, and all 51 states here in the USA.

This site is a labor of love and we have a lot of fun doing it.   We thank all of our readers for participating so enthusiastically on the blog.  Our readers are the reason this site has become so popular with dog fanciers.  Most importantly, we have found that our love of dogs is shared by people from every walk of life and every place on the planet.  Do you suppose that the United Nations would work a little better if they only allowed dog owners to be delegates?

FALL FOILAGE OR DESERT SUNSETS?

 New Mexico Sunset

Fanciers will have a lot of choices this week on where to spend their dog show dollars, with 35 shows in 13 locations.  Residents of the New York Metropolitan area can head to August NJ for four days of fall colors with the Palisades Kennel Club & the Ramapo Kennel Club, running Friday through Monday.

Mid Atlantic enthusiasts have the option of the same four days in West Friendship MD with the Catonsville Kennel Club & the Maryland Kennel Club or the standard two days in Wilmington NC with the Hanover Kennel Club.  If you want to extend your summer fun try the Suwannee Valley Kennel Club Of Florida’s two shows in Lake City FL near Jacksonville.

Here in Tennessee the action is in Music City (that’s Nashville to non-Country Music fans) with the Tri-Star Kennel Club Of Williamson County Tennessee.  If you’re in the Great Lakes region there’s three shows starting Friday in Urbana OH courtesy of the Mad River Valley Kennel Club & the Licking River Kennel Club.  In the Heartland head to Mason City IA for a weekend with the hometown Mason City Kennel Club.

South Central residents have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of options this weekend.  There’s two in Enid OK hosted by the Sooner State Kennel Club, two in Canton TX with the Tyler Texas Kennel Club, or two in Los Lunas NM thanks to Valencia Valley Kennel Club Of New Mexico.  If you are a Toy Dog fancier get there early for the New Mexico Toy Group Club’s two shows on Thursday & Friday.

This week those west of the Rockies will have a lot of choices.  There’s the Black Mountain Kennel Club Of Nevada’s two shows in Primm NV south of Las Vegas, two in southern California with the Cabrillo Kennel Club in  Del Mar near San Diego, two in northern California with the Two Cities Kennel Club in Yuba City north of Sacramento, or four day fun fest starting Thursday in Boise ID with the Idaho Capital City Kennel Club & the Lizard Butte Kennel Club.

So whether you like the brilliant colors of fall foliage or the dazzling palette of desert sunsets, you can combine some terrific landscapes with some terrific dog scapes at an AKC dog show this week.
