VISIT AN AKC SHOW THIS WEEK

Salt Lake City

We have 26 all breed shows this week in eleven places, well actually twelve.  East coast exhibitors will shuttle between West Windsor Township NJ & Erwinna PA.  W Windsor will host the Delaware Valley Toy Dog Fanciers Association & the Garden State All Terrier Club on Friday and the all breed Trenton Kennel Club on Sunday.  Erwinna will be the spot for the 2300 dog Bucks County Kennel Club event.   If you are looking for an all breed cluster, you have your choice of Jefferson WI and three days with the Badger Kennel Club & Janesville-Beloit Kennel Club, Purina Farms in Gray Summit MO and three days hosted by the Jefferson County Kennel Club Of Missouri, the St. Louis Dog Breeders Association, & the Spirit Of The Heartland Kennel Club, or South Jordan UT, near Salt Lake City, where the Utah Valley Kennel Club & Intermountain Kennel Club will give us a quartet of shows starting Thursday. 

The rest of our offerings are traditional Saturday/Sunday fare.  Spend the weekend with the Oconee River Kennel Club in Watkinsville GA, with the Crawford County Kennel Club     in Bucyrus OH, with the Big Spring Kennel Club in Big Spring TX, 450 miles east of Big Springs with the Caddo Kennel Club Of Texas in    Marshall TX, with Arizona White Mountain Kennel Club Heber AZ, with the Rio Hondo Kennel Club in Pomona CA, or with the Olympia Dog Fanciers Association     in Elma WA.   We have great dogs in every area of the US.  Enjoy the good weather and spend some time this week at an AKC dog show.

ANOTHER FOXHOUND BIS

Joseph Gregory was on deck for Saturday’s final of the Champaign Illinois Kennel Club in Decatur IL.  His finalists were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry’s Foolish Pride, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Shalimar’s Golden Ticket, the Norwich Terrier, CH Skyscots Poker Chip, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Joleigh Austin Powers, the Lhasa Apso, CH Ma Thai Ta Sen Halleuliah Chorus, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Myshara’s Dream Girl.  It was the ever cheerful Norwich, Pokey,  picking up another BIS.  We have that as his sixth this year.

Sunday saw Gary Doerge in the final ring with the all Saturday’s finalists save one, the Old English Sheepdog, CH Lambluv’s Gambolon Blue Thunder.  His Best was the Foxhound, Jo Jo.  We have that as the third this year for the country’s Number One American Foxhound.  Two Foxhound BIS in one weekend, wow!  How cool is that?

GETTING DOWN IN DELAWARE

Many of the country’s top dogs were in Bear DE this weekend.  We told you about the excitement on Friday.  Here’s the rest of the fun.  On Saturday, Carol Reisman had the best seven of over 1300 dogs to choose a BIS for the Wilmington Kennel Club.  They were the Irish Setter, CH Shadagee’s Caught Red Handed, the Scottish Deerhound, CH Foxcliff Hickory Wind, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Sealyham Terrier, CH Efbe’s Easy Money, Friday’s BIS winner, the Affenpinscher, CH Banana Joe Van Tanikazari, the Standard Poodle, CH Unique Jewel Of The Crown, and the Belgian Tervuren, Char-Ma’s Chosen One.    The white Standard Poodle, Sparkle, was one of the almost 300 big Poodles competing at this week’s Poodle Club of America National Specialty.  She didn’t get the BISS, but she does go home with the all breed BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Gail S Wolaniuk & Joan E McFadden and owners Kathleen Stockman, Diane Keeler & Gail Wolaniuk.

Sunday, the Penn Treaty Kennel Club and Anella Cooper took over.  Returning for another try for the BIS were the Irish Setter, the Boxer, the Affenpinscher, & the Standard Poodle.  They were joined by the Borzoi, CH Vento Danza Independence, the Kerry Blue Terrier, Cranmoss Finbar Of Colinca, and the Puli, Mi Tonka As Good As It Gets.  Best went to AKC’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Irish Setter, Emily.  Emily & handler Adam Bernardin now have eleven big all breed BIS.  Suddenly the race for number one gets more interesting.

HOT TIME IN HOLLISTER

We have one more site to report before we go back to pick up the laggers.  The I-5 crowd were in Hollister CA some 40 miles east of Monterey.  Sunday the Gavilan Kennel Club asked Susan Godek to take a look at BIS hopefuls the Golden Retriever, CH Eldorado’s Promise D’Best H3X, the Black & Tan Coonhound, CH Silver Ridge Showtyme At Windbourne, the Boxer, CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the Border Terrier, CH Jen-Lar Secret Warrior Of Marlyn, the Affenpinscher, CH Tamarin Top Banana, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Player's Just Like Butter, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Avalons Frontier Sleepnlady Webber. Her Best was the Boxer, Danny.  Both of Danny’s 2010 BIS have come within the last 30 days.

TWO DAYS IN CHINO CA

The Lake Mathews Kennel Club spent their weekend in Chino CA, 35 miles east of Los Angeles.  On Saturday the SOCAL crowd gathered around John Ramirez’ ring to watch the Golden Retriever, CH Dalane Doizaki Buckingham’s Pride, the Afghan Hound, CH Shenikah Jakar Raising The Bar, the  Siberian Husky, CH Trillium Blue Czar Nikolas, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Fortuna De Aiedkii’s, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, CH Lugari Holiday Rocco, the French Bulldog, CH Bayhill Celebrate, and the German Shepherd Dog, Covy Tucker Hill’s Kean Marc Flash.  They saw the Chihuahua, Rocco, take home his third BIS this year.  All three have come in the last 30 days.

Sunday, the final ring belonged to Carole Beattie and the Chihuahua, Rocco, the aforementioned Golden , Smooth Fox, & GSD, the Basset Hound, CH Splash’s The Professor, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Nanuke’s Take It To Limit, and the Bulldog, CH Greybulls Ketel One.  They call it the Golden State, so why shouldn’t the Golden, Lexus, take home a BIS?  Congratulations to breeders Dale & Jane Jensen, owners Hisato Doizaki & Jane Jensen, and handler Bruce Schultz on 2010 BIS number two.

Timothy Robbins closed the three day set in Beaumont TX, choosing a BIS for the hometown club.  He saw the Golden Retriever, CH My Buddy's Boppity-Bop Blue Moon RN, the Whippet, CH Starline's Chanel, the Akita, CH Celebri Te's Picture Perfect, Saturday’s BIS winner, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Dalriada’s Mystic, the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, the Bichon Frise, CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the German Shepherd Dog, Heidelberg's Rocco V. Francesca.  It was the Wire, Boo, doing the back2back BIS thing.  It’s number six for our DOG2WATCH.

SUNDAY IN SEWARD NE

CH Willowick Talltean

Sunday in Seward NE it was Edweena McDowell calling BIS for the Seward County Kennel Club.  Her seven were the Brittany, CH Willowick Talltean, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Dehra Amazona Bulgari, the Samoyed, CH T-Snow Star’s Journe Of The Heart, the Border Terrier, CH Whistler At Amberly, Saturday’s BIS winner, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, CH Royalist Ready To Reign, the Schipperke, CH Dante’s Fire When Ready HOF, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Veritas The Truth B Told.  It was the Brittany, Tally, taking home the first Brittany BIS of the year.  You may recall that Brittany and handler Kellie Miller were this year’s Sporting Group winner at Westminster.  Congratulationss to Kellie and breeder/owner Catherine Fitzgerald.

SUNDAY IN MICHIGAN

CH Dawin Spitfire

The Progressive Dog Club of Way County held a double header in Birch Run MI this weekend and drew over 1000 dogs each day.  We gave you Saturday’s results earlier.  Here’s Sunday’s.  Douglas Johnson sevren hopefuls were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Wil-Orion's Twenty Twenty, the Afghan Hound, CH Majic Whatever I Want, the Bullmastiff, CH Brude Murbe Samson, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J’Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Yorkshire Terrier, CH Lane's Mini Cooper, the Standard Poodle, CH Dawin Spitfire, and the Norwegian Buhund, Trollheimen Who's Watchn The Badge.  Best went to the US’ number five dog, the Standard Poodle, Jetta.  Jetta is currently the Number Five Dog All Breeds.

CH Mountain Crest U Don't Own Me

The Fort St Clair Kennel Club gave us two shows in Eaton OH this weekend.  On Saturday Richard Byrd had his choice of the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter's Mt.View Lookout, the Whippet, CH Snowcap's Patent Leather, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Skansen's Sir August Brigs, the Scottish Terrier, Danzin Twin H Power, the Pomeranian, CH Mountain Crest U Don't Own Me, the Boston Terrier, CH Keynote's Knockout Kid, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Legacy's Bold Venture.  He chose the Pom, Buster Boy.  It’s the second BIS this year for the country’s Number One Pomeranian.

Sunday, Buster Boy & the Giant were back to see judge Jon Cole along with the Gordon Setter, CH Firethorn & Sandpiper Easy On The Eyes, the Basset Hound, CH Topsfield Sanchu- American Express, the Smooth Fox Terrier, Suncatcher Crossfire, the Dalmatian, CH Koira Guardian Of The Longbow, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Bugaboo's Big Shot.  The Giant became the second of his breed to win a BIS this year.  Congratulations to breeder Sylvia Hammarstrom and owner Mary E Williams.

SUNDAY IN WEST VIRGINIA

CH  PalaceGarden Malachy

The Beckley West Virginia Kennel Club held their second show of the week Sunday with Virginia Lyne doing the Best In Show honors.  Her seven were the Brittany, CH Magic Read My Lips, Afghan Hound, CH Genesis Silverado, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Alpenspirit's Lion King, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Talydales Friend Of The Force, the Pekingese, CH  PalaceGarden Malachy, the Chow Chow, CH Liontamer's Dial 1-800-Hotstuff, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Oakhurst Crusin' In Chrome.    The Peke, Malachy, picked up his second BIS of the four day set, his twelfth of the year.   Malachy & handler David Fitzpatrick now occupy the Number Four Dog All Breeds spot.
