We are back on line after two days without power due to Thursday’s storms and we have lots to tell you. The San Francisco Bay area’s Woofstock, an annual summer celebration of love of the dog, is underway on the north shore of San Francisco Bay in the town of Vallejo. The four day cluster hosted by the Lake County Kennel Club Of Northern California and the Contra Costa County Kennel Club has drawn some of the largest entries of the year and, as we all know, big numbers mean big names.  The first two days have provided west coast fanciers with an opportunity see the top two dogs of 2014 go head to head, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek's Impression De Matisse, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Thursday’s LCKCNC opener saw both the Portie, Matisse, and the OES, Swagger, in the final ring with judge Dr Robert Indeglia. Also in the hunt were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Simpatico Equal Justice, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Roundtown Everyday Magic of Maryscot, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Cashin’s Sizzling Bacon Bit, and the French Bulldog, GCH CH Fulla Bull Soulja Boy. Dr Indeglia would name Matisse his Best In Show and Swagger his Reserve.

At Friday’s LCKCNC encore, BIS judge Robert Stein would see it the same way after considering the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak Vallee’s Maximum Dream, and the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure. The two wins leaves Matisse with 57 BIS and 73 Working Groups this year and a win streak of ten BIS in a row.
