CATCHING UP WITH NUMBER ONE

Our Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, has spent the last two weeks close to her southern California home.  Two weeks ago she was on the border in Chula Vista CA for the Bahia Sur Kennel Club Of Chula Vista’s two shows.

On Saturday Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel joined Robert Black’s final along with the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Dogwdcreek’s La Vita E Belle, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Diablo’s Dark Knight’s Nemesis, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Roseknoll Sunny Benjamin, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà vu, the French Bulldog, GCH CH LeBull’s El Morocco At LeCirque, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

Taking the day one BIS was the Corgi, Allie, followed by Sky with the RBIS.  Allie and handler Jenny Rangel have  five BIS in 25 final appearances this year, good enough to make Allie the Number Three Herding Dog.

GCH CH Honor’s Promise Of The Future

Sunday Sky and the above named GSP, Ridgeback, & Frenchie would be back to see BIS judge Murrel Purkhiser.  They would be joined by the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Honor’s Promise Of The Future, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Barkshire’s Nick Of Time  Sky would add another Best In Show to her impressive resume and the Pyrenees, Michael, would get his first Reserve.   Sky has 31 BIS and a remarkable 66 Terrier Groups this year.

This past weekend Sky and Gabriel were in Long Beach CA for two of the most glamorous events in California, the Beverly Hills Kennel Club’s and the Long Beach Kennel Club’s shows.  The BHKC was first up on Saturday and they put Michael Forte in the final ring with the aforementioned GSP, Belle, the Bloodhound, GCH CH quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Akita, GCH CH Ruthdales Candy from a Baby, the Wire Fox, Sky, the Brussels Griffon, CH Paragons Sharp Dressed Man At Greengates, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Corgi, Allie.

Judge Forte’s top two were the Poodle, Dino, and the GSP, Belle.  Dino burst on the scene at the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, where he was a surprise finalist.  This year Dino and handler Amy Rutherford have collected six BIS and 12 Non-Sporting Groups.

The hometown kennel club’s Sunday final was in the hands of  Larry Mackai who saw five of the previous day’s finalists and the Basenji, GCH CH  Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, and the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Chase What Matters.  Finishing one/two were the Akita, Candy, and the GSP Belle.  It’s the first BIS of the year for Candy and handler Laurie Jordan-Fenner.   Congratulations to Laurie, breeders Matthew Bostock & Janet Armstrong, and owners Richard & Linda Stark.
