When we lived in the San Francisco Bay area the Santa Clara Valley Kennel Club shows were regular stops on our calendar.    The Sunday/Monday format is slightly off center, but feels right in the City by the Bay.

Day one saw Merle Taylor in the final ring with the Irish Water Spaniel, Whistlestop’s Wind on the Water, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Kamagh Too Busy Bein Fabulous, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, the Standard Poodle, CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Woodstock's Belle Starr.

Taking the top two spots were the Poodle, Dino, and the Chin, Spencer.  We got our first look at Dino when he went Group One at the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship (AENC).  Most recently he went Best of Opposite Sex at Westminster over the 2011 AENC BIS winner, GCH CH Jaset’s London.  The English import was the Number One Utility Dog in the UK and the Number Three Dog All Breeds in 2011.  This was his first AKC BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Carlos Renau & Lazaro Anelo, owners Sloan Barnett, George Linderman Sr, Michael Gadsby, & Jason Lynn, and handler Amy Rutherford.

Monday BIS judge Betty-Anne Stenmark  saw the above named Irish Water Spaniel & Borzoi, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Catanya’s Latin Lover, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Penaire's Chip Leader at Longvue, the Brussels Griffon, CH Paragons Sharp Dressed Man At Greengates, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Penndragon Owain, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

Her top two represented the ying and yang of the dog world, the Borzoi, Vintage, and the Corgi, Allie.  It’s the first of the year for Vintage.  Our congratulations to breeders/owners Karen Cartabona & Karen Spey.

  1. Just a small correction, the call name on the Borzoi is "Vintage", her dam is a bitch named "Glamour" that did some group winning with Rhanda Glenn last year :-) Thanks for this great blog!
