GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction

While some of our top dogs are in England to participate in the British Kennel club’s premier event, Crufts, others stayed here in the US where this week’s breed action began today.  In Franklin TN the Nashville Kennel Club opened the four day set and Rita Biddle had the day one final with the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Timberknoll's Embrace The Journey, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake’s Simply Sinful, the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Barbary Rough 'N Ready, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim's Captain Crunch.

Ms Biddle’s BIS was the Standard Poodle, London.  London and handler Ann Rairigh have put together an impressive string of 12 all breed Bests this year…and it’s just Thursday.  Check our partner site, Best In Show Daily, for reports on Crufts and be sure to read our report on how the British Kennel Club is discriminating against some of our oldest breeds.

  1. Requiring that certain breeds with exagerated features that can lead to ill health pass basic vet-checks is "discrimination?!?" I call it common sense. We are stewards over our dogs. It is our responsibility to breed as healthy a dog as we possibly can. If you think Bulldogs are a generally healthy breed, you are living in La-La Land. You probably won't post this comment.

    1. Read my post & you will have a better idea of where I am coming from. I don't dispute that Bulldogs & Pekes are challenged by their breed characteristics. I still don't want to see the breeds eradicated and replaced with something that has breed characteristics designed by PETA.

    2. Today it was the Clumber Spaniel that was sent home. Tomorrow, who will it be? This is a set up. Who's kidding who? If I were the owners of the dogs, I'd sue. It was pre planned and way too obvious.

  3. Oh, I have read all your posts, and I know exactly where you're coming from. I repeat, if you think that Pekes and Bulldogs are healthy breeds, you are living in La-La land. You say, "challenged by their breed characteristics"????? This makes me want to vomit. Their challenging breed characteristics are totally man-made, arbitrary, and incompatible with normal, healthy living. Do we WANT to make it easy for PETA to argue that it's cruel to have purebred dogs?

  4. The Clumber was sent home because it can't breath normally? How is this a "set-up?" I call it appropriate.

    1. The Clumber was DQ's because the vet felt the eyes showed irritation, despite having a clear eye certification. See the You Tube interview with the Clumber's owner at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ubTCBN_l1E

    2. The eyes showing irritation has nothing to do with an eye certificate. The vet diagnosed conjuntivitus and as we all know that is a contagious condition and therefore rightly sent it home.

  5. How can anyone support breed club that have standards that have been interpreted in such an exaggerated way that the animals are struggling to breathe and are unable to take normal exercise. these are living breathing beings they deserve better. I applaud the Kennel club in england for taking a stand on the dogs behalf. It may be only a small step but it IS a step in the right direction. what could possibly be wrong in wanting a healthier dog. The bulldog breeders do not have a leg to stand on, their breed is unable to whelp on its own surely that alone should set alarm bells ringing. I am sure there are breeders out there concerned for their breeds but it is the unscrupulous ones who breed from unfit/genetically damaged dogs that are the problem. I love dogs, ALL DOGS purebred
and crossbreeds they all deserve the best we can give them.
