Brooksville FL
OK, we know that many of you are still dating your checks 2010, but wake up and pay attention because our dog show year is underway with a vengeance. First, let’s talk about Florida. On Thursday fanciers will gather in that out of the way doggy Mecca, Brooksville FL, which is 50 miles north of Tampa and 65 miles west of Orlando, perfect for disposing of the bodies of unsportsmanlike exhibitors. The Manatee, Clearwater, Inverness Florida, Tampa Bay, & Pasco Florida Kennel Clubs will team up for a total of nine all breed shows in ten days, taking only Tuesday to catch one’s breath. More than one dog has emerged from this circuit in the past to dominate the rankings for the rest of the year.
However, the opening salvo will be on Wednesday when the Northern Neck Kennel Club Of Virginia opens a five day stay in Fredericksburg VA. They will be joined by the Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club and the Chesapeake Kennel Club Of Maryland to complete the stay. New Englanders will have to wait until Friday for their four day weekend in Fitchburg MA with the Greater Lowell & Merrimack Valley Kennel Clubs, while New Yorkers head upstate on Friday for to Hamburg for three days with the Kennel Club Of Buffalo and the Ashtabula Kennel Club.
The rest of our offerings are spread across the US, consisting of weekends in Oshkosh WI with the Winnegamie Dog Club and Oshkosh Kennel Club, in Starkville MS with the Golden Triangle Kennel Club Of Mississippi, in Sinton TX with the Corpus Christi Kennel, or three days in Puyallup WA wit the Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers, the Tacoma Kennel Club, & the Sammamish Kennel Club, starting Saturday.
We have lots of exciting new faces out there and several of your familiar favorites. So make a New Year’s resolution you can live with. Visit more AKC dog shows!

HOW TO SLAY AN INVISIBLE DANGER.

Contact voltage is a chronic hidden hazard that can readily victimize an unsuspecting dog, walker, or both. No dog lover could possibly observe a more horrifying scene than witnessing his beloved pet instantaneously maimed or tragically electrocuted. When you exercise your pooch, please exercise greater prudence. Common outdoor electrical and metal fixtures may shock or even kill your vulnerable dog. And depending upon the current, the walker will be bitten and like poor Aric Roman, suffer permanently. But you can, indeed, self-protect.
Just start to adopt this simple strategy — EYEBALL THE BLOCK, AND AVOID A SHOCK. Take a few seconds and make your trajectory toward generally safer, free standing, non-conductive surfaces, ie., plastic, wood, cardboard. Intuit your dog’s cues and if it’s resistant, change directions. Work site perimeters may be live so try to elude them. If necessary, switch sides of the street or your hands when leading to skirt hazards. If you traverse the same route, you may memorize locations of potential dangers. Carry your pooch when in doubt. Consider indoor restroom products like PottyPark when external conditions are chancy or RopeNGo’s hardware-free leash and harness. And don’t rely on dog booties as a palliative as they will actually put your pet at even greater risk since the dog can’t tell you they’re leaking! To learn to more, please see StreetZaps. A safer walk is yours year round if you are willing to open to your eyes and mind to it.
What are the results for day 4 of the dog show at Ormond Beach in Florida?

ReplyDeleteI like that resolution! That's actually something I should count as my resolution as this year I've decided to start going to AKC shows to become more familiar as there will be some nearby ones to me in April, and plenty of Atlanta shows that I'd like to go to. :D I used to show in 4-H for some time, but the first and only AKC show I've been to was the Eukanuba show for the 2 years it was in Tampa while I lived there. Amazing experience and I don't know how I went years without going to shows when there were quite a few going on not to far from me!
