GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor
The Charleston Kennel Club is not the Mid Atlantic Kennel Club that is refusing to share its on line catalog with all of us. Therefore we can tell you that their day one BIS was the Pug, GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor. Rufus and handler Linda Rowell were joined in Houston Clark’s final by the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Clos Erasmus, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Davik’s Snowmist Ice Fox, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Kambara’s Zebulon, the Bulldog, GCH CH Hertherbull Topline O-O, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Dalarno Nite Song At Morningstar. Rufus finished 2010 with one all breed BIS and two top Toy Group prizes. Congratulations to Linda, and breeders/owners Phil Fisher & Carole Fisher
Re. Catalogs: Pardon my ignorance here, but I've never seen this happen before so I'm curious, what's the reasoning for this? Given news travels at the speed of light, or cell signal, is it so people can't find out who is showing where in advance??
ReplyDeleteNaïve in Va. :-)
Thanks!
Allegedly, the last time they were withheld, and it was Virginia clubs then, it was because they were laboring under the misbegotten belief that somehow by not publishing the catalog entries they would somehow be able to sell more catalogs. This ignores the fact that most people who want to know who a particular dog is or who is entered will simply go ringside to the judge desk and check the catalog that's with the steward or ask someone who has one. People with breeds with large entries in the individual classes are generally going to buy one anyway whilst the rarer breeds with fewer than 15 entries generally don't since you usually know who everyone is anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt also ignores the fact that many people over the course of a 3 day entry will check the first couple of days to see if dogs showed up and the major held before driving long distances or risking poor road conditions.
As for people checking to see who is there. What they don't think folks that are playing the ratings games aren't calling friends and contacts in this day and age of cell phones and finding out who is there?
The last VA show corrected their idiot mind set quickly. What i don't understand is the Hound and Terrier catalogs were up yesterday morning but when I looked to see who won they had a notice posted.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what these people are thinking but that makes me not want to buy a catalog even more.
Somehow we need to come up with better ways to publish this information than the catalogs.
yes, now that you mention it they did because I remember checking my breed to see who was there even though I don't have a dog entered in any shows this weekend.
ReplyDeleteTruly odd
As for reform one of the things that needs to be done is to cease publishing the addresses or city/states of exhibitors AR Extremists and overzealous ACO's with an ax to grind against breeders use that info to go after people. It was done in South Florida in the months following the passage of Palm BEach County's mandatory spay neuter law
