TERRIERS MASS IN SACRAMENTO

CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek

Saturday's Sacramento Kennel Club show benefited from the two preceding shows held by the Northern California Terrier Association on Thursday and Friday. This year’s Terrier entry had 376 Terriers present & competing and it was the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, who won Thursday’s all Terrier event, taking home Saturday’s top prize.

Challenging for the BIS were the English Setter, CH Set'R Ridge's Exclusively Gold, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Soletrader Donald Duck, the Portuguese Water Dog, CH Aviators Luck Be A Lady, the Maltese, CH Richelieu's Sugar Rush, the Keeshond, CH Windrift's Dance To The Music, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber. Adam and handler Eddie Boyes have been steadily marching up the rankings . We suspect this weekend will put him close to a top ten ranking.

  1. Adam is way ahead in breed points and to some fanciers this is the most important race!

  2. Jorge Olivera won with his welsh on Friday, not the Airedale, placements were second Gabriel's wire fox, third Ed's smooth fox, and fourth a breeder-owner-handled aussie.

  3. See http://www.infodog.com/RESULTS/2010359702/2010359702GRP.HTM. Does MBF have it wrong?

  4. I heard from 2 Welsh Terrier breeders attending on Friday that Jorge won the group on Friday (and my class dog beat him on Sat for BOB!). And finished his championship on Sunday (handled by Wood & Jenny Wornall and Andrew Peel) Yippee!

  6. The comment at the top, about Adam and breed points being more important, Mr. Wheeler, is that person on crack? I've been in dogs for 2 years and even I know that person has been near the x-pen too long.

  7. It’s very true that there are a lot of breeders who are justifiably proud of their breed points. My issue with breed points is that it’s possible to win one large specialty and sew up the breed points for an entire year. However, some rare breeds can theoretically rack up enough all breed points to be rated the top winning dog in their breed and never face a member of their breed in the ring. I will say that I would like to see a dog amass both breed points and all breed points, as both of our splendid top two Smooth Fox have done.
