We have this in from West Springfield MA where they wrapped up a four day stand with the Great Barrington Kennel Club show.

Eileen Ketcham had Best In Show duty today and among her finalists were the Labrador Retriever, CH Casbar’s Har To Hart, the Samoyed, CH Pebbles Run Hammy Davis Jr, the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Shiba Inu, CH Banshou Go Ryuukyuu Uruma, and the Bearded Collie, CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

After a weekend filled with top ten dogs winning back to back BIS, we have a brand new BIS winner, the Sammie, Hammy. We are told that this win puts Hammy in the number one Samoyed spot. Congratulations to breeder/owner Amy Kiell Green and handler Rachel Kulp, who was standing in for regular handler Andrew Green. Gotta love the walking on air photo courtesy of Jeffrey Hanlin.

  1. Carrissa & CJ go best again in Kansas City, Linda CLark with the viszla, Brenda Combs with Pokie , Linda Pitts with Conrad are the only other winners that I know, we were done and left.

  2. Conrad the puli went BIS in KC Saturday. CJ the dobe went BIS today.

  3. I don't know what system you are using when you commented that Hammy the Sammie now moved into #1, but as of July 31, he was #3, 3,165 point behind #1. His best in show had no more that 1,100 points possible available, according to MBF tonight.

  4. I have not verified the current number one Sammie. That claim was made by a Hammy fan. As of 31 July Hammy was behind on both all breed points and breed points. However, there's been a lot of shows in the books since then.

I,like you, doubt that he has collected enough points to take over number one on all breed points. However, it's entirely possible that he has gathered enough breed points during the last 23 days to catch number one.

Last month the Bulldog, CH Kepley's Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, moved up twenty all breed spots. 23 days is a long time.

The one thing the debate points out is that we need more up to date point counting. I can vouch for the top 25 dogs all breed, but beyond that, I leave it to you breed specialists.

  5. I love Jeffrey's pictures...for such a young person he has such a great talent!

  6. This Samoyed accrued MANY more all-breed points in the last few weeks than just the BIS yesterday.. I would THINK the owners/handler would keep better track of where the dog stands than a person who goes just by stats that are nearly a month old.

Gotta love it when people try to rain on one VERY deserving dog's parade..

  7. I agree. And this Sammie placed several days at the Canfield OH shows in early August and those were 600 and 700 dog groups alone, so there's a very good chance he's already caught up to the #1 spot if he hasn't already passed it. And if he's not #1 it won't be a long time until he is with movement like that!

  8. This samoyed has been racking up breed and all-breed points all summer so it is very possible that Hammy the Sammy is number one. As he so very much deserves! It makes me laugh how concerned people are with points when there not even up to date! Im sure the owner is on top of it and obviously this dog deserves it! One of a kind movement! Congrats to breeder, owner and handlers of this outstanding young dog.
