CATCHING UP IN KENTUCKY

GCH CH Starlite’s Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN JC 

We last visited Owensboro KY to tell you that the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonpillar’s Steel Blu, was judge Stephen Hubbell’s BIS at the Southern Indiana Kennel Club on Friday. 

 Judge Randy Garren had the final at Saturday’s Owensboro River City Kennel club show and his pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore Of Me, the Saluki, GCH CH Starlite’s Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN JC, the Akita, GCH CH Wicca’s Rule the Air, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Abbeyrose Black Diamond, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Major Leagues Mighty Joe At Winsome, and the Bouvier, Blue.

Judge Garren named The Saluki, Snapple, as his Best and Blue, the Bouvier, as his Reserve. It was the first BIS for Snapple. Congratulations to breeders/owners Tina Turley-Kocab, Mark Kocab, owner Sandra Middlebrooks, and handler Erin Roberts. 

GCH CH Pequest General Tso 

 Judge Houston Clark took the final at Sunday’s Southern Indiana Kennel Club show. There seeking his favor were the previously seen Springer, the Whippet, GCH CH Bo-Bett Appraxin Angel, the returning Akita, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini & Rangel’s Rock N Rolla, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Schipperke, GCH CH Rivendel’s Barefoot Bandit, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Turn-Key’s Little Big Man RN.

Finishing one/two were the Peke, General Tso, and the Whippet, Angel. It was the fifth BIS of the year for General Tso and Pekingese maven, breeder/owner/handler David Fitzpatrick.

The Evansville Kennel Club closed the five day set in Owensboro KY with judge Dennis McCoy in the final ring. Hoping to take home the BIS were the now familiar Springer, Welsh Terrier, & Bouvier, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Portuguese water, Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Wenrick’s Don’t Stop Believin, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Belle Creek’s All I Care About Is Love.  

It was the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the PWD, Matisse, grabbing the BIS and Bouvier, Blue, adding another RBIS to his impressive week. Matisse ends the week with one BIS, one, RBIS, and five Group Ones, giving him 90 BIS and 123 Working Groups this year.

The Magic Valley Kennel Club closed their weekend in Huntington WV Sunday with judge Johan Becerra Hernandez in the final ring. Joining him were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Shannon’s Celebration At Springrun, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Stonewall Ol South Loretta, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Darling Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Chars Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Barnstorm To-Jo BEn Wicked @ Adominos By Dzine, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Tartanside Savoir-Faire.

Repeating his Saturday BIS performance was the Giant, Knight. Taking the RBIS was the Pom, Huey. It was the fifth BIS of the year for the nation’s Number One Giant Schnauzer.

COLLIE BIS IN MASSACHUSETTS

GCH CH Milas Latin Fever 

New Englanders were treated to five days of doggy fun this past week. We brought you all the results except Sunday’s Elm City Kennel Club. BIS Judge Dr Thomas Davies considered the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Nautilus Keystone, the Pharaoh Hound, DC Hallams Jake Of Arolet SC, the Leonberger, GCH CH A Feiner Eros, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s Russia To With Love, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Sanchi Pleasant Surprise, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Maribob Salishan To The Manor Born, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Milas Latin Fever.

His BIS was the Collie, Cisco, and his RIS was the Scottie, Knopa. It was the second BIS of the season for Cisco and breeder/owner/handler Lotta Hedman.

BEST IN SHOW LEAP FROG

GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid Of Honor 

Arguably the most competitive venue this week was in Topeka KS where several of the nation’s Top Ten Dogs All Breeds were gathered for the four day cluster. We told you the Number Seven Dog, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, was judge Pat Trotter’s BIS on at Thursday’s Manhattan Kansas Kennel Club show, and the Number Three Dog, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, was judge Alberto Berrios Best In Show at Friday’s Topeka Kennel Club show. 

GCH CH LTO Prosperity 

The Welsh, Jennie, and the Poodle, Flame, would continue to play BIS Leap Frog. Jennie would take the top prize at Saturday’s MKKC encore. Joining her in judge Loraine Boutwell’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephistos Speak Of The Devil, the RBIS, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Po-Ba-Ri At Arundina, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Thunderhill’s Apple Bottom Jeans. Saturday’s BIS was Jennie’s 14th of the year.

Flame would claim Sunday’s TKC top prize. Judge Frank Sabella would name Jennie his Reserve winner while the returning Springer & Whippet and the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, & the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables Jolie Victor Ludorum, looked on. Flame starts the new week with 35 BIS this year.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY IN ATLANTA

GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist 

When last we visited Atlanta GA we told you the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh, had taken the top prizes at Thursday’s Griffin Georgia Kennel Club show and Friday’s Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club Of Georgia show.

Coco would return to the final ring at Saturday’s Lawrenceville Kennel Club show. Joining her in Dr Steve Keating’s ring were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar’s Masterpiece, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Teagan’s Purple Rain, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Starfire’s Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, and the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe. 

Dr Keating would name the Springer, Titleist, his Best and Coco his Reserve. It was the second BIS of the year for the four year old dog and breeder/owner/handler Kellie Fitzgerald. 

GCH CH Starfire’s Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy 

At Sunday’s Conyers Kennel Club of Georgia show BIS judge Nancy Smith-Hafner would see Titleist, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Phelps Insignia, the returning PWD, Matisse, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Connacht A Ha Penny Will Do, the same Pom, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and Coco.

Best went to the Pom, Spanky, and Reserve went to the Nation’s Number One Dog, Matisse. Spanky is a late arrival this season, but has already picked up three BIS this year, all within the last 60 days.

OES SWEEPS SANTA BARBARA

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect 

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in glamorous Santa Barbara CA where the Santa Barbara Kennel Club held a two day tutorial in how to hold a marquee event. Dominating the weekend was the Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, who added the SBKC’s two big rosettes to Friday’s Simi Valley Kennel Club BIS.

Saturday judge Mark Cocozza considered the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, GCH CH Javahill Surf2 An 8 Second Ride BN, the Whippet, GCH CH Winway Ramona Quimby, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Heartsease King Of The Jungle, his the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, and the Dalmatian, GCH CH On The Spots Chase Me Charlie, before naming Swagger BIS and the Cairn, Lexie, RBIS.

Judge Sam Houston McDonald would bring it home on Sunday, naming Swagger, BIS, and the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour, his RBIS. On hand for the occasion were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Vjk-Myst Garbonitas California Journey, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Meyer Of Comiskey Park, the Cairn, Lexie, the above named Pug, and the Lhasa Apso, CH Xerlane’s Born to Rock. 

The three BIS bring Swagger’s 2014 record to 61 BIS and put him substantially closer to the Number One Spot.

GIANT BIS IN WEST VIRGINIA

Judge Thomas Alexander was in Huntington WV on Saturday to name a Best In Show and Reserve for the Magic Valley Kennel Club. His options were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Erinfyr Night Game RN, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Stonewall Ol South Loretta, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, the Airedale Terrier, CH Darling Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char’s Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Litilann’s Photo Finish, and the Rough Colle, GCH CH Tartanside Savoir-Faire. 

Finishing one/two were the Giant and the Airedale. Knight is the nation’s Number One Giant Schnauzer with four BIS this year.

XOLO BEST IN PENNSYLVANIA

GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani 

The theme of the week seems to be rare breed BIS. The Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, was judge Richard Reynolds’ top dog at Saturday’s Mid Susquehanna Valley Kennel Club show in Middleburg PA. 

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret 

Also looking for judge Reynolds’ favor were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Stelor’s Royalty Remembered, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Bridgehill’s Mr Mason’s Misbehavin, the RBIS, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Lamz Strike A Pose RN CAA CGC, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Carasel’s Valentino CGC, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha'Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn. 

While the Xolo is a rare breed, ranking 139th in AKC’s registry, BIS are not rare for Armani. The Number Six Non-Sporting Dog has six BIS this year.

BRIARD BEST IN MASSACHUSETTS

Another breed we do not see often with the big rosette is the Briard. Today the Briard, GCH CH Déjà vu Mia Cool as a Cucumber, took home the top prize at the Newton Kennel Club show in West Springfield MA.

Also vying for judge Roberta Davies’ favor were her RBIS, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Mario N Beechwood's Midnight Express, the Saluki, GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now, the Doberman Pinscher, Raklyns Dreaming Tree Alisaton, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash JP Beauty & Beat, and the Coton de Tulear, CH Hopecrest's Monkey Business. 

It was the first this year for Dill and handler Regina Keiter. Congratulations to Regina, breeders/owners Terry Miller & Amie Melton, and owners Dominique Dube & Lynn Bernard.

OTTERHOUND BIS IN OHIO

We have been a cheerleader for AKC’s rare breeds since our very first post here on Dog Show Poop. So we are delighted to tell you that the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under The Influence, was judge Jay Richardson’s Best In Show at today’s Sugarbush Kennel Club show in Chagrin Falls OH.

Joining Dewey and breeder/owner/handler Jack McIlwaine in the final ring were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Siberian Husky, Davik’s Snowstorm Gussit, the RBIS, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Blenheim English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Thornwood Little Jacob, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Trelynn's Something About Amy. 

It was the second BIS this year for Dewey, the only Otterhound to win a BIS in the last two years.
