Judge Rafael de Santiago wrapped the four day set in Lakeland FL, sending home today’s Lakeland Winter HaveN Kennel Club finalists home in time for cocktails.  His lucky seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Sentinel, the Greyhound, GCH CH GradCru Phelps Insignia, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CCH Tiburon Ariel Bella Dona, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

Best was the Skye, Charlie, and Reserve was the Doberman, Bella.  Charlie’s third BIS and 14 Group Ones this year will make him the early favorite in the Terrier Group this year.

GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome

The biggest numbers this weekend are in Denver where they have completed three of the four Rocky Mountain Cluster shows.  Sunday’s Colorado Kennel Club show ended with judge Brian Meyer in the final ring with the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Whippet, Bo-Bett Tivio Man Of Steel, the Akita, GCH CH Stardust’s See You at the Show, the CH First Class Willow Wind The Phoenix, the Pug, GCH CH Pocket’s Jato Jetliner, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Rendezvous Le Road King Of Calee, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Finishing one/two were the Brittany, Beckett, and the OES, Swagger.  It’s the first BIS of the year for the Westminster breed winner, who finished 2013 with two BIS and 22 Sporting Groups.  This year the 2012 American Brittany Club national specialty winner has one BIS, three RBIS, and eight Sporting groups.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Kathy D Hogan, breeder Elud Archuleta Cressler, and owners Jim & Alisa Andras, Carolee Douglas, & Amanda Cone, and handler Clint Livingston.

The Rocky Mountain Cluster concludes today with the Colorado Kennel Club’s day two show.

GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye 

The Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye, had so much fun winning Saturday’s South Arkansas Kennel Club show that he did it all over again on Sunday. Challenging Justin for the win were judge Stephen Hubbell’s RBIS, the Pointer, GCH CH Chesterhope State of T Art, the Saluki, GCH CH Aurora’s The Song And Dance Man, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the Pug, GCH CH Careva’s Boodelicious, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Ducat’s Smokin’ Hot, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables Jolie Victor Ludorum CC.

 Justin has made a great start in 2013 with two BIS, one RBIS, and the breed win at Westminster. We hope you get to see Justin, who is the winningest Miniature Schnauzer is AKC history with 32 career BIS.

FIRST TIME BIS IN IOWA

We begin our Monday Morning Mop Up in Des Moines IA where the Cyclone Country Kennel Club Of Ames hosted two shows this weekend.  Judge Andre Schoen had the day one final and her pick of the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue, the 15” Beagle, CH Mar-Lee Larkin American Dreams, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Ziembora’s Strutt Your Stuff, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, GCH CH Shandalee Fireworks, the King Charles  English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Boston Terrier, CH Deja-Vu I’m The Prince, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation.

Her BIS and RBIS were the Wheaten and the Boston.  It was the first for the Wheaten, who had seven Group Ones in 2013, the most of any of her breed.  Congratulations to breeders Sue & Harvey Goldberg, owners Dawn Sealy & Nancee Bailey, and handler Laura L King. 

The Springer, Toy Spaniel, & OES would all return on Sunday to try their luck in judge Pat Mowbray-Morgan’s final.  They were joined by the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Twinkle’s Corbin At Carowynd, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hellraiser, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH   Cher Ami’s Toast With Remi Martin.

Once again it would be handler Laura King with the BIS winner, the Dachshund.  Reserve went to the OES.  Once again it was the first BIS for the 18 month old dog.  Congratulations to Laura and breeder/owner Carolyn E O'Neil.  We hope to have photos for you soon.

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret

The Westminster Group Three winner, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, has the distinction of being the only Working Dog this year to win a Group over the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse this year.  Trader did it again today at the Maryland Kennel Club in West Friendship MD, going on to be judge Lisa Warren’s BIS.

Also hoping to impress judge Warren were her RBIS, the Brittany, GCH CH Brookewood’s Just Too Hot CDX MX MXB MXJ MJB, the 15” Beagle, CH Tashtins Looking for Trouble, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s to Russia with Love, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash JP Beauty Beat, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Rosevalley’s Special Edition.  Trader has four BIS in nine final appearances this year.  It’s going to be another exciting year.

After two days of all Toy limited breed shows in San Jose, the Santa Clara Valley Kennel Club got the all-breed competition rolling today.  Judge Paula Nykiel’s final included the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Saluki, GCH CH Srinagar Glory Halelujah Of Ladyhawk, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Baron Dye Of Ridgetop, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, GCH CH Lochlinear Gleanngay Cha Ching, the Havanese, CH Oeste's Stealing The Starlight, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Mindalyn Wishful Thinking.

BIS was the Bullmastiff, Baron.  RBIS was the Havanese, Lucia.  It’s the first BIS for Baron and handler Janice Hayes.  Congratulations to Janice, breeders Olga Whittal & Lisa Fennell , and owner Rochelle Wynes.

The Lakeland Winter Haven Kennel Club had the coveted Saturday spot in Lakeland FL today.  His seven hopefuls were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Afghan Hound, CH Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Akita, CH Dynamic Force Sharp Dressed Man With Ruthdales, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious HamItUp Southern Bell, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

The two standing in the middle of the ring with judge Dr Steve Keating at the end of the day were the two Floridians, the MinPin, Classie, and the Skye, Charlie.  It was the fourth BIS in 15 final appearances for the Westminster Toy Group winner.  It was also Classie’s 122nd career BIS.
