GRAYSLAKE IL

Great Lakes fanciers gathered for three days this past week in Grayslake IL for the Chain O’Lakes Kennel Club’s and the Park Shore Kennel Club’s three shows.  Read about Friday’s CLKC here.

Saturday’s PSKC final featured Anne Katona in the BIS ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Super Nova, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Finnegan's Wake, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Litilann's Photo Finish, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Integrity Above All Else.

Best went to the Springer Peyton and Reserve went to the Chin, Mimi.  Peyton was 2012’s Number Two Dogs All Breeds in one of the closest races in recent history.  The win is the second BIS this year for Peyton and handler Robin Novack.

Sunday four of Saturday’s finalist would make it back to the final ring, the Standard Schnauzer, the Russell Terrier, the Chin, and the Standard Poodle.  Joining them in Dr Elliot More’s BIS ring were the English Setter, GCH CH Aerden's Pretty In Pink JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Kamada's New York Minute, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Spirit Wood’s Gandalph the Blue.

Finishing one/two were the Chin, Mimi, and the Setter, Kiki.  Mimi is the top winning Japanese Chin of all time with 16 career all breed BIS.  That is even more remarkable considering that she broke the record in just ten months.  Congratulations to breeder Patricia Mushrush, and owners James Dalton, Dr John Turjoman,  Marsha Ballard & N Wright, and handler Nancy Wright.

The Greater Gainesville Dog Fanciers Association chose judge Fred Bassett to close the 12 show, 17 day “Florida Marathon”.  The seven dogs making the final final were the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, GCH CH Chesacola Hardwood Baltimore Raven CGC, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Boxer, CH Hi Tech The King of Sherry Shoot Jp, the Border Terrier, CH Brocair Field Of Cherry Blossoms, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Copperridge's Sugar N Spice.

Taking home the last big rosette of the stop was the Whippet, Tawny, while the MinPin, Classie, picked up the Reserve ribbon.  Tawny has been among the Top Ten Hounds for the last four years and finished 2012 as the Number One Whippet and Number Six Hound with 10 BIS and 55 Group Ones.  Congratulations to breeder/owner  Dionne Butt, co-breeder Jesse Martin, owner Jane Cooney-Waterhouse, and handler Amanda Giles.

The reconstituted Florida circuit maintained its influence on the national rankings propelling the MinPin, Classie, and the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, into the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.  Both will be among our picks for the upcominbg Westmisnter Kennel Club show in two weeks.  Look for our series Who To Watch at Wsetminster (WWW).

The Charleston Kennel Clun wrapped their two day visit to Ladson SC with James Fredericksen in the final ring.  The seven dogs there to greet him were the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Conquest's This Is It!, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Jakar’s An Affair Most Wicked, the Mastiff, GCH CH Lazy D's Spartacus At Her Majesty's Request, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH  Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Integra's Masquerade Party, the Shiba Inu, GCH CH MR2 Three Ships To The Wind, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Nightstars Unchained Mel o dee.

Taking home the Reserve ribbon was the Parti-Cocker, Neytiri, while the Best In Show went to the Shiba Inu, Buckeye.  Buckeye’s first BIS is only the second BIS by a Shiba Inu in the last two years.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Sandra L Rolenaitis & Tisha Harris and handler Jeremy John Hohman.

Our Monday Morning Mop Up begins in Erie PA where the hometown Erie Kennel Club was set up for two days.  The seven that made it to Gary Anderson’s final on Saturday were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Dixieland Duchess, an Afghan Hound from the classes, Winterbourne's Mijkelh Amanyara, the Newfoundland, CH Rosewood's Royal Flush, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Darwyn Esmeralda in Sanherpinc, the Pomeranian, CH Babbie’s Capitan Of The Ship Of Mtn Crest, the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin Rock On By, and the GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber. 

The two that he chose were his Reserve, the nine month old Afghan, Qi, and the Best In Show, the Welsh Terrier, Emme.  Emme is just beginning her show career which has included two Bests of Breed at the 2012 Hatboro Kennel Club shows Montgomery County weekend.  This is her first AKC BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Larisa Hotchin & Bruce Schwartz, owners Judith Anspach, Mary Duafala, & Pam Allen, and handler Santiago Pinto.

Sunday only the Briard, Dill, would be back to see BIS judge Victoria Johnson.  Joining them were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwood’s First Reign, the Walker Treeing Coonhound, GCH CH Alexanders Gold Rush Xcetera, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Snowmist's Quicksilver Speigas, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Dogwood Treasure Hunter, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Burbrook Storm Chaser, and the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls.

Up in Ladson SC, Bart Miller was opening the Charleston Kennel Club’s two say stop.  The seven he saw were the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Conquest's This Is It!, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Jakar’s An Affair Most Wicked, a Boxer from the classes, Draco Dubai, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH  Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Pekingese, GCH CH Oakhill's Two Times The Dragon, the Shiba Inu, GCH CH MR2 Three Ships To The Wind, and a Puli from the classes, Cordmaker Topsy Turvy.

The two judge Miller liked were the Welsh Terrier, Jennie, and the Afghan, Wicked.  It’s the first BIS for Jennie.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Keith Bailey & Sharon Abmeyer, owners Tony Lee & Xiangyu Xie, and handler Luiz Abreu.
