FURNITURE CITY KENNEL CLUB

We are determined that every dog shall have his day and will finish up with last week’s winners before turning to this week’s.

The Furniture City Kennel Club held their two shows in Winston-Salem NC and asked Norm Patton to take the day one final.  His seven hopefuls were the Pointer, GCH CH Springpoint New Moon Rising, the Afghan Hound, Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Newfoundland, CH Avalon Bey's Southern Bell, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Gleanntan Gaelforce, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, Bichon Frise, GCH CH Overtops and the Winner Is, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery. 

Tells Matrix Reloaded

His one/two were the MinPin, Classie, and the Afghan, Matrix.  It was the 27th BIS of the year for Classie and owner/handler Armando Angelbello.

Sunday Classie & Matrix would be back to BIS judge Lydia Coleman Hutchinson along with the above named Bichon and Corgi.  Rounding out the seven were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Wingold’s Eagle Scout JH RN, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay JL Snazzy Story At Avalon Bey, and the Russell Terrier, CH Goldsands Billie Jean.  She would name the Golden, her RBIS and the Corgi, Libby, her BIS. DOG2WATCH Libby is the nation’s Number One Cardigan Welsh Corgi with five BIS and 53 Herding Groups.

DOUBLE BACK2BACK BIS IN AL

We were happy to see two of our extreme breeds (we know we will hear about that characterization) dominate the action here in the South last week.  The Pekingese, GCH CH Oakhill's Two Times The Dragon, and the Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, each collected two BIS this past week.  The Peke, Deuce, took both of the top prizes at the Decatur Alabama Kennel Club’s two shows  and the Bulldog, Brix, grabbed the BACK2BACK BIS at the Huntsville Kennel Club’s two shows in Priceville AL.

On Thursday Janice Pardue chose Deuce and Brix out of a seven that included the Irish Setter, GCH CH Herihundas Table for One, the Wirehaired Dachshund, Raydachs Ride My Ducati Sw, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore's Diamond Lil, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Gordon's Bite Of The Apple, and the Finnish Lapphund, Sugarok Macce Too.

CH Insights No Bias No Bull

Friday’s DAKC final fell to Peggy Dillard Carr who gave the BIS to Deuce and the RBIS to the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Insights No Bias No Bull, while the Welsh Springer Spaniel, CH Rolyart's Tale-Gator, the Samoyed, GCH CH Polar Mist Cruz'n T'Party At Zamosky, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding V Sole Baye, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH  CH Karizma's Ike Of Edale, watched.

These are the first two BIS of the year for Deuce and owner/handler Joseph Franklin.  Congratulations to Joe, breeder Kaesi L Cook, and owner Brenda Royer.

GCH CH Harbor's It Had To Be Me

On Saturday the whole crowd moved camp from Huntsville to Decatur for the HKC’s day one show.  Thomas Parotti chose Brix as his Best and gave the Reserve award to the Havanese, GCH CH Harbor's It Had To Be Me.  Also on hand were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Ocoee Dsqd With A Vengeance, the Longhaired Dachshund, Solo's Playboy SL, the above named Great Dane, the White Bull Terrier, CH Hawthorn Summer Shandy, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Jesstar Nirvana.

Sunday James Hupp closed the set by handing Jay Serion, Brix’ handler, the big rosette, and the Reserve ribbon to Robert Chaffin, handler of the above named Samoyed, Cruz.  There to the end were the previously seen English Springer, LH Dachshund, Solo's Playboy SL, Schnauzer, & Sheltie.  Making the final final their first of the set was the Havanese, GCH CH Wyhaven's How D'ya Like Me Now.

Brix and Jay make their home in state, but have been all over the US this season, collecting three BIS and 18 Non-Sporting Groups to make Brix the country’s Number One Bulldog.

Fanciers were in Salisbury MD for five days last week.  Check our archives for stories on the Talbot Kennel Club’s two shows.

On Friday Dr Albert Bianchi was in the final ring for the hometown Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club.  His super seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wica Trader’s Secret, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch. 

Grabbing the top prize over that imposing competition was the Akita, Trader.  The Doctor’s Reserve was the Springer, Peyton.  It was Trader’s sixth BIS in 57 times in the final ring.

Saturday saw some of the top dogs head for other venues, but most stayed put hoping to see BIS judge Dr John Reeve-Newson.  The seven he saw were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Northwoods Send Money Honey, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Snoopi Friends In Low Places MLH, the Saint Bernard, GCH CH Jamelle’s Aristocrat V Elba, the above named  Scottie, Affenpinscher, & Dalmatian,  and the German Shepherd Dog, CH CH Adelgards Guilty As Charged V Tsali.

The Doctor’s RBIS was the Weimaraner, Schatze, and his BIS was the Affenpinscher, Joey.  Joey is the country’s Number One Toy Dog and the Number Five Dog All Breeds.  He and handler Ernesto Lara have collected 35 BIS this year.

Joan Scott had the closer and her pick of previously mentioned Foxhound, Scottie, Dalmatian, & the GSD, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain crunch, the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwinds First Reign, and the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Remember When.

Packing up the stop’s last awards were the RBIS, the Dal, Ian, and the Irish Setter, Reign.   It’s a year when it’s tough to be a Sporting Dog.  Reign now has two BIS in  23 final attempts.  Yes, it is rough out there.

FOUR DAYS IN TUCSON AZ

We will depart from our usual east to west departing pattern and visit Tucson AZ to tell you about the four shows hosted by the Madera Canyon Kennel Club & the Canada Del Oro Kennel Club.  The shows Friday through Monday format made for so interesting match ups.

GCH CH Winamere N Gold Camp Simply D Best

The MCKC took the first two days putting Gloria Geringer in the first final with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Winamere N Gold Camp Simply D Best, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Déjà vu I Want’a Talk About Me, the Chow Chow, CH Tamarin Velvet Fogg, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Sandcastle Raggedy Ann.

Taking the first day’s awards were the Springer, Patron, with the Reserve, and the Wire, Sky, with the BIS. 

GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell

Saturday’s MCKC final was in the hands of Linda More who had her choice of the same Springer, Boxer, Wire Fox, & Sheltie, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak McDreamy, and the Dalmatian, GCH CH Kastle’s Go Speed Racer.

This time the Wire, Sky, would claim the RBIS, while the Bloodhound, Kissie, would sniff out the BIS.   Kissie is the nation’s Number One Bloodhound with seven BIS in 32 final appearances.

GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration

Kissie, Sky, & the above named Havanese would all be back for the CDOKC’s first final on Sunday.  Rounding out Lowell Davis’ final were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Great Dane, GCH CH De Joie's Tomfoolery V Lost Creek, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Starlight's Lady In Waiting, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lakota's Hitman of Cantar.

Picking up her second BIS of the set was the Wire, Sky, with the RBIS going to the Clumber, Seymour.   Sky is AKC’s Number Four Dog all Breeds with 32 BIS and 82 Terrier Groups.

Arlene Davis would close the set in the company of the now familiar Bloodhound, Great Dane, Wire Fox, & Dalmatian.  Joining them were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Oakrose High N' Mighty, and the Canaan Dog, GCH CH Pleasant Hill Magnum Of Samara.  Once again Sky would take the Reserve award.  The Best In Show would go to the country’s Number Two dog All Breeds, the Springer, Peyton.  Peyton and handler Robin Novack are in hot pursuit of the Number One Dog.  Their 54th BIS of the season will put them about 2300 points behind.
