Roger Hartinger had day two duty in Glendale AZ for the Kachina Kennel Club. Among the final seven were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Oteins Cap'n Jack Sparrow, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Whippet, CH Staline’s Chanel, the Boxer, CH R And G's Mystical Dancer, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Trozian Onyx At Torum, and the Miniature Pinscher, CH Brackley He's My Warrior, the Finnish Spitz, CH Pikkinokka Badgr Sir Barksalot, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Asgard Harley Davidson V Plamark PT. Best went to the Boxer, Danny, his first this year. Congratulations to breeders Gayann Jones & Kimberlie Steele and owners Roberto Bezerra, R Servetnick, Barbara Bachman, C Desmond, Gary Steele, Kimberlie Steele & Gayann Jones.

CH Indigo's Hilltop Istate

Jean Fournier was in Charlotte NC today for the Piedmont Kennel Club. Her lineup included the Vizsla, CH Diamondmines 24 Caret Gold, the Greyhound, CH Grandcru Clos Erasmus, the Siberian Husky, CH Indigo's Hilltop Istate, the Border Terrier, CH Tyrolian Eight Belles At Meadowlake, the Pug, CH WooWoo Serendipity, the Shiba Inu, CH Mo's Grand Thunderstorm, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Masquerade Mikey Likes It. Best went to the Siberian, Stacey. A multiple BIS winner, it’s Stacey’s first BIS of 2010. Congratulations to breeders Jim & Lynn Dagen & C Coomes and owners Dr & Mrs David K Qualls. And our thanks to the Qualls for the opportunity to publish a video. We haven’t done that in a while!

NEW AKC BIS WINNER IS NO NEWBIE

Northgate's As You Like It

Michael Dachel had the BIS book at Salina Kennel Club show in Valley Center KS. Friday Group winners returning for a second look were the Pharaoh Hound, Northgate's As You Like It, the Wire Fox Terrier CH Dalriada's Mystic, & yesterday’s BIS winner, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers. They were joined by the a 8-month-old Golden Retriever from the puppy classes, Goldrush Troubador, the Samoyed, Ch. T-Snow Star's Journey of the Heart, the French Bulldog, CH Robobull Fabelhaft I'm On Fire, and the Australian Sheperd, CH Clemwood's Nobel Laureate.

Best went to the Swedish import, the Pharaoh Hound, Qing, his first AKC BIS, Also from the classes, but hardly a newbie, Qing, was the top dog in Sweden in 2007, BIS at the 2007 World Dog Show, and winner of the Hound Group at Crufts in 2009 & 2010. Congratulations to breeder Hanna Ukura, owners Jennifer Mosing & Jenny Hall, and handler Brian Livingston.

The show also featured a special Junior Handler competition in memory of Walter Bebout, who grew up in Wichita KS. Walter started his career in dogs as a junior handler sand went on to become a professional handler and an AKC judge. He also served as an AKC conformation field representative and AKC Director of Canine Legislation before retiring in 2008. The Sunflower Cluster shows and the Central Region Top Junior Handler Competition are dedicated to Walt's memory. The scholarship winner was Kelli Denton showing her 2-year-old Keeshond. Kelli will receive a prize of at $1,500. The other finalists were Jennifer Nocker with her English Setter, Alyssa Grosnickle with her Golden Retriever, Chandler Coon and his Rottweiler, Ciara Cassell, showing her Basenji, Breanne Kuehler with her Shiba Inu, and Colston Couch and his Australian Cattle Dog.. The finalists came from a 15-state region and had to win at least two Open wins with competition. Congratulations to them all. With kids like these our beloved sport has a bright future. Our thanks to Nickie Flynn for bringing this special competition to our attention.

EARLY CALIFORNIA RESULTS

CH Paray Cirque Du Soliel

Believe it or not, we have results from Merced CA and the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club show today. They asked Sharon Krogh to call the Best In Show and she considered the the Golden Retriever, CH Gaia Of Yoshida Enterprise, the Petit Bassert Griffon Vendeen, CH Soletader‘s Donald Duck, day one BIS winner, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Catanya’s Latin Lover, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Brussels Griffon, CH Cashin's Walk The Line, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Players Just Like Butter, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH PaRay’s Cirque Du Soleil. Collecting their second BIS of the year were the Sheltie, Cirque and breeder/owner/handler Tray Pittman. Well done!

Our first results of the day come from the Greater Orange Park Dog Club in Elkton FL. Ann Hearn’s final consisted of the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Star K’s Mile Hi Valentine, the 15” Beagle, CH Quijote De La Plaza Grunaur, the Rottweiler, CH Camcastle’s My Gigolo, the Skye Terrier, CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Papillion, CH Forevr Errol Flynn, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Endeavour, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Warwick’s Paint The Down Red.

It was Jane Myers & the GWP, Tina’s first all breed Best this year. Tina and Jane collected five BIS and 40 Sporting Group Firsts last year. Congratulations to Jane, breeders/owners Linda & Richard Stark and owner Victor Malzoni Jr.

DAY TWO IN MERCED CA

Bart Miller had BIS duty at the day two show of the Yosemite Kennel Club in Merced CA today. He saw the Golden Retriever, CH Gaia Of Yoshida Enterprise, the Basset Hound, CH Blossomhil's Mamma Mia, day one BIS winner, the Boxer, CH Duba-Dae's Who's Your Daddy, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Silky Terrier, CH Safire Rock It To The Stars, the Bichon Frise, CH Paray's Rime Time, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Avalon Frontier Sleepnlady Webber. His Best was the Smooth Fox, Adam. Handler Eddie Boyes has lead Adam to a top twenty all breed berth and the number two Terrier spot. Today’s win was the third in the last 30 days for a total of four this year.

TWO MORE BIS

CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar

We don’t have all the details, but we do know that the Whippet, CH Starline’s Chanel, ran away with the big rosette in Glendale AZ today at the Kachina Kennel Club event courtesy of Robert Whitney. We also hear that the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, was Gene Blake’s choice for BIS at today’s Birmingham Kennel Club show in Columbiana AL. It’s been some day for the Toy Dogs.

MASSACHUSETTS FRIDAY RESULTS

CH PalaceGarden Malachy

The Trap Falls Kennel Club asked Theresa Hundt to command the final ring today in West Springfield MA. She had her choice of the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Whippet, CH Hi Tor Rippleton Romeo, a 10 month old Doberman Pinscher from the puppy dog classes, D's Remember When, who bested the country’s number three dog all breeds, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, in the Working Group. (We can’t wait to see this one!), the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Pekingese, CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Tibetan Spaniel, CH Tibroke's Kissed By A Star, and the Bearded Collie, CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

Her Best was the nation’s Number One Toy Dog, the Peke, Malachy. We have it as BIS number eight for Malachy and owner/handler David Fitzpatrick. Malachy is currently the number four dog all breeds. Our top five is starting to tighten up.

HUTCHINSON KC RESULTS

CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers

Elliott Weiss had a superlative seven today at the Hutchinson Kennel Club in Valley Center KS. They were the German Short Haired Pointer, CH Fieldfines Pure Gold, the Pharoah Hound Northgate's As You Like It, the Boxer, CH Bravo N Sunset Stealing Time, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Dalriada's Mystic RN, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Bichon Frise, CH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the Belgian Tervuren, CH Tocara's Touchstone Takoda. His Best In Show was the Country’s Number Two Toy Dog, the Shih Tzu, Austin. That’s all breed BIS number seven for Austin. Look for him to rejoin the top ten all breed.

The Yosemite Kennel Club’s opener today was a smallish affair packed full of quality dogs. David Krogh’s final featured the Weimaraner, CH Silhouettes LifeInTheFastlane, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Soletrader Donald Duck, the Boxer, CH Duba Dae’s Who’s You Daddy, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Char Dar's Merry Manhattan, the Italian Greyhound KC’s Shake Your Groove Thing, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Players Just Like Butter, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Covy-Tucker Hill's Tjr's Marc Flex CD RE HSAdsc. His BIS was the country’s Number Eight Dog All Breeds, the Boxer, Bosco. Credit Bosco and handler Wendy Bettis with six Best In Shows this year.
