GCH CH Derby’s Toast With Gusto

We return to our weekend show reports with the results of the St Charles Missouri Kennel Club’s two shows.  Judge Robert Vandiver had the day one final and his pick of the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH Glacieridge Tabatha’s Granite, the Saluki, GCH CH Starlite’s Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN JC, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast With Gusto, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hell Raiser, the Toy Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Cottage Lakes Our Lady Of Fatima, the Schipperke, GCH CH Rivendel’s Barefoot Bandit, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Belmark Close Encounter.

His Best was the Swissie, Gus, and his Reserve the Sheltie, Keaton.  It’s the second BIS of the year for Gus, who finished last year as the Number Eight Working Dog with nine and 32 Working groups.  Congratulations to breeders Robyn & Ken Toth & Kristin Kleeman, owner Sue Copeland, and handler Scott Sommer.

Gus and the StaffyBull, Ollie, would return to the final ring on Sunday to try their luck with judge Dr Robert Indeglia.  They were joined by the English Springer Spaniel, CH Tiptop N Heritage Electra Glide, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Zens Cirque Du Soleil, the Finnish Sptiz, CH Kunniakas Whizz Bang Wallop, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Graffiti McMatt Shook Me @Lookouttrail.

Finishing one/two were Ollie, the StaffyBull, and Vicki, the Beagle.  It was Ollie’s fist BIS this year.  Ollie was 2014’s Number One Staffordshire Bull Terrier with three BIS and 27 Terrier Groups.  Congratulations to breeder, Martin Fitzgerald, owner Zane Smith, and handler Paul Catterson.

BACK TO GRAYSLAKE IL

When last we visited Grayslake IL we told you that the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn, was judge Ken Murray’s BIS at Friday’s Chain O’Lakes Kennel Club show.  At Saturday’s Park Shore Kennel Club show judge Beth Sweigart would see the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I’ll Have Another V Braeside RN, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlakes Pants on Fire, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Chars Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation.

Taking the BIS was the Standard Poodle, Flame.  Collecting the RBIS was the Border Terrier, Cinder.  It was the first BIS of the year for last year’s Number Three Dog All Breeds.  Flame finished 2014 as the Number One Non-Sporting Dog with 47 BIS and 121 Group Ones.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Linda Campbell and handler Sarah Perchick.

Flame would be the only one of Saturday’s finalists to make it back to the last ring at Sunday’s Chain O’Lakes Kennel Club show.  Judge Edd Bivin would also consider the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin’ for Trouble, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Phillmar Superman, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Taliesin Twice As Nice, the Pug, GCH CH Chelsea’s Fantasy Dressed To Impress, and Friday’s BIS winner, the GSD, Rumor.

Judge Bivin would like the Springer, Randy, for his BIS, and Rumor, the GSD, for his RBIS.  It was the first BIS of the year for 2014’s Number Four Sporting Dog, Randy, who collected 15 BIS and 96 Sporting Groups last season.  Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Robin Novack, breeders/owners Celie Florence, Delores Streng, & Beth Fink, and owners C & D VanVorst.

GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless 

The Greater Gainesville Dog Fanciers Association had the coveted Saturday/Sunday spots at this past week’s four show Gator Classic in Ocala FL. They chose judge Lorrain Bisso to name their top two dogs on Saturday and she chose the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, as her BIS and the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, as her RBIS.

Also on hand in the day one final were the Labrador Retriever, CH Chambray’s Tucker Everlasting CGC, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH White Oaks Invincible Snowplow, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, and the Finnish Lapphund, GCH CH Lumiturpa Tapakka. It was the second BIS of the year for Brazen and breeder/owner/handler Amada Giles.

Sunday the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Sunburst One Cool Dude BN RA CGC, would join six of Saturday’s finalists in judge Kenneth Rayner Jr’s BIS lineup. The two finishing on top were the Pom, Danny, and the Mastiff, Aji. Danny is leading the Toy Group again this year with four big BIS and eight Toy Groups so far this year.

History was also made this weekend when judge Manuel Queijeiro named the Coton de Tulear, GCH CH Mi-Toi’s Icon CM, his Best In Show at Sunday’s Charleston Kennel Club show.  It was the first by a Coton since the breed’s recognition last year.

Challenging Icon for the win were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Gold Icon’s Dolce & Gabbana, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Jakar An Affair Most Wicked, the Black Russian Terrier, CH Blackberry Uragan CD CGC, the RBIS, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Hampton Court Broxden What In Carnation, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Palmetto’s Flying Dutchman, and the Border Collie, Aspen Keep Distant Thunder.  Our congratulations to breeders/owners Luis and Carmen Ortiz on win that will go into every history of the Coton de Tulear.

Icon and Luis started the weekend with an RBIS under judge Rita Biddle, who chose the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Autumn’s Stone Ridge Mojo.  Rounding out the day one final were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Celtic Lores Moonlight And Magic CGC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Double D Best of Luck, and the aforementioned Smooth Fox & Crested.

It was the first for Jo and handler Lenny Brown.  Congratulations to Lenny, breeders/owners  Curtis Shaver & Janie Shaver, and co-breeders Ronald Webb & Lisa & J M Webb.

The temperatures were warmer and the competition hot this weekend in Richmond VA where the Middle Peninsula Kennel Club of Virginia hosted two shows.  Judge Betty-Anne Stenmark chose her top dogs from the English Springer Spaniel,  GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Foxcliffe Chelsea Piers, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow’s Hi-Tech Ben There Done That, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and the Belgian Sheepdog, CH Amethyst Sugarfoot.

She would name the Welsh Terrier, Jennie, her Best and the PWD, Matisse, her Reserve.  It was the third BIS of the new season for Jennie and handler Luiz Abreu.

GCH CH BayAway Jersey’s Due Process of Law

Judge Michael Faulkner would see a mostly new seven on Sunday, the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Windy Hill Dance To The Music JH, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH BayAway Jersey’s Due Process of Law, the returning PWD, Matisse, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, the Japanese Chin, CH Touche’s Snapdragon, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Planetts Star Reporter, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Ha'Penny Mirimar The Fab Fawn.

Going to the head of the pack was the Coonhound, followed by Matisse, the PWD.  It was the first BIS for Moses and only the second BIS by a Black & Tan Coonhound in the last year.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Debra & George Rezendes & Jinnie-Ann Stora and handler Zach Helmer.

GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear

We start our Monday Morning Mop up happy that there are no shows scheduled today and that all our fellow fanciers will be home safe when today’s historic snow storm hits the north eastern United States later today.  Fanciers did encounter icy conditions leaving Erie PA after attending the hometown Erie Kennel Club’s two shows, where spectators were treated to the first ever Best In Show by a Pyrenean Shepherd when judge David Anthony named GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear his top dog on Saturday.

Judge Anthony picked Sunny out of a seven that included the RBIS, the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouth’s En Fuego, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Spring Valley’s Jojo, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Davik’s Snowstorm Gussit, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Signature, the Pug, GCH CH Belaires Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and the Dalmatian,  Siren N Dakotas Heir To The Throne.

Sunny has been the Number One Pyrenean Shepherd for the last three years, topping the Herding Group 13 times in 2014.  Our congratulations on the historic BIS to breeder/owner Patricia Princehouse, owner Kathryn Lanam and handler Elizabeth Salewsky, standing in for regular handler Nina Fetter.

Sunny, the English Setter, Blaze, and the Ridgeback, Jojo, would all return to the final ring on Sunday to plead their cases with judge Deborah Anthony.  They were joined by the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Alisaton Saboteur V Raklyn Ciden, the Norwich Terrier, CH Bronwyn He’s A Heartbreaker, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Chismicks Boop Oop A Doop, and the French Bulldog, Beans Relentdstar Mythibul Milton.

Finishing one/two were Blaze, the English Setter, and Jojo, the Ridgeback.  It was the second BIS of the year for Blaze who finished last year with ten BIS and 46 Sporting groups.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Penny DiSiena, owners Glenn & Sue Godley, and handler Katie Shephard.

Judge Robert Hall was in Alexandria LA on Friday to call the Best In Show for the Baton Rouge Kennel Club. His seven hopefuls were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Basset Hound, GCH CH By U Cals Monkey On The Bayou, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah CA CGC, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Springhill Street Smart, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowat’s the Gladiator, and Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just a Little Crush.

His BIS was the Doberman, Glory, and his RBIS, the Brittany, Beckett. It was the first of the year for Glory who wrapped last year with three BIS and 27 Working Groups. Congratulations to breeder/handler Linda George, co-breeders Hillary Zimmerman & Rick George , and owners Jacqueline & Alan Wendt.
