ORLANDO SATURDAY MORNING

GCH CH Triumphant's As Good As It Gets JH

It’s day one of the biggest dog show in the United States, the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, at the million square feet Orange County Convention Center in Orlando FL.  Today we have the Sporting, Hound, Toy, and Non-sporting Groups in action.

GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward

At lunch time we have some selected results.  Only the Westminster Kennel Club show rivals the AENC for the toughest competition of the year and we have already seen some upsets today.  The nation’s Number One Sporting Dog and Number Four Dog All Breeds, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, was handed a rare defeat in the breed by GCH CH Triumphant's As Good As It Gets JH, who ironically has the same call name, Beckett.   The Number Two and Four Sporting Dogs, the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, and the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, both decided to opt out of competing in Orlando.   However, Group judge Edd Bivin will see the Number Three Sporting Dog, the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward.

GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble

The Number Two and Three Hound, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, and the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, will move forward to judge Michael Dougherty’s Hound Group tonight.

GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor

The Number Two, Three, Five, Six, & Seven Toy Dogs were not entered today, but we can tell you that the Number Eight Dog, the Pug in his farewell appearance,  GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana's Sh-Boom, and the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow's Hi-Tech Ben There Done That, will all be on hand tonight in judge Peggy Lloyd’s final.

GCH CH Dowat’s The Gladiator

While most of the Non-Sporting Group’s Top Ten Dogs are in Orlando, we only have results on the Bulldogs.  We can tell you that AKC’s Number Seven Non-Sporting Dog, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowat’s The Gladiator, did win the breed and will move on to judge Toddie Clark’s Group tonight.

Check in with us later for results from the Afghan Hound, Bloodhound, Papillon, Pomeranian,  Bichon Frise, and Standard Poodle rings.

CENTRAL FLORIDA KC SURPRISES

GCH CH Starfire’s Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy

In years gone by several of our top dogs would abandon Orlando FL for Cleveland OH in an attempt pick up the last of the season’s points in a less competitive venue. Cleveland also offers two chances at a big rosette vice the one, however coveted, two day event in Orlando. This year weather and the likelihood that the year’s final standings have already been determined, have conspired to keep most of the top twenty dogs in Orlando.
