TWO IN RENO NV

CH Dv9k9's Red Hot Star

We love Reno NV.  When we lived in Northern California  we made regular runs to Reno to gamble, see the shows, and enjoy the wild mountain landscape.  This weekend fanciers got a chance to visit Reno for the hometown kennel club’s two shows.

On Saturday Dr Albert Bianchi chose his top two from a seven that included the English Setter,  GCH CH Sagebrush's Simply Irresistible,  a Whippet from the classes, Starline’s Walk of Fame, the Great Pyrenees, CH Framboise Something Ventured Something Gained, Border Terrier, GCH CH McHill's HRH Prince Gizmo House Of Gremlin,  Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Chase What Matters, the Finnish Spitz, CH Dv9k9's Red Hot Star, and the Puli, CH Prydain Oscar's Wilde Child.

Taking home the top prize was the Spitz, Rocket.  Collecting the Reserve award was the Border Terrier, Gizmo.  It’s the first BIS this year by a Finnish Spitz  and the first Non-Sporting Group For Rocket.  Congratulations to breeders Michelle & Stephanie Leathers and owners April Bruce & Erika David.

Sunday’s final featured the English Springer Spaniel, CH Segre's Brown Derby RA BN OA OAJ, the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Verdon Devil Made Me Do It MW, the Boxer, CH Daybreaks Bad Influence, the West Highland White Terrier, CH Shamrock White Diamonds, the aforementioned Pom, the Spitz, Rocket, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Spindrift Bend It Like Beckham.

Judge Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine’s BIS was the Pom, Chase, and her RBIS, Rocket, the Spitz.  We haven’t seen a lot of Chase this year, but he still has managed to collect two BIS and 21 Toy Groups in 2013.

GCH CH Summerwind’s Rumour Has It

On Sunday judge Darryl Vice chose Sky out of a seven that included the Weimaraner, GCH CH Simpatico Equal Justice, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Winbourne’s HD Ranch King Of The Road, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dreamcatcher Major Victory Of Loki, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà vu, his RBIS, the Keeshond, GCH CH Summerwind’s Rumour Has It, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential.

Over the last three weeks Sky has seen half of her lead lost to the Number Two Dog.  These wins will regain most of that, bringing her 2013 BIS total to 44.
