SHOWS IN ALL FOUR TIME ZONES

Salt Lake City

It took us so much time to gather up last week’s results that we find we are already into this week’s shows.  In the Northeast the action begins Friday in West Windsor Township with two limited breed offerings, the Delaware Valley Toy Dog Fanciers Association & the Garden State All Terrier Club. The all breed action debuts on Saturday with Bucks County Kennel Club in Erwinna PA 40 miles northwest.  Sunday it’s back to West Windsor for two days with the Trenton Kennel Club.  Do you think the two clubs might get together on a mutually convenient site?

Our Great Lakes offerings this week are  the Crawford County Kennel Club’s two shows in Bucyrus OH, 100 miles southwest of Cleveland, or the three shows hosted by the Badger Kennel Club & Janesville-Beloit Kennel Club in Jefferson WI 50 miles due west of Milwaukee.  Down here in the South exhibitors will choose between a weekend in Watkinsville GA, near the University of Georgia, with the Oconee River Kennel Club or two in beautiful Panama City FL with the Greater Panama City Dog Fanciers Association.

In the Heartland, fanciers will once again be at the Purina Farms complex in Gray Summit MO.  The fun starts tomorrow for four days of fun with the Gateway Toy Dog Fanciers, the Spirit Of The Heartland Kennel Club, the Jefferson County Kennel Club Of Missouri, & the St Louis Dog Breeders Association.  Once again Texans have two choices of venues, the Caddo Kennel Club Of Texas in Marshall, 40 miles east of Shreveport LA, or keep heading 450 miles west on US 20 to Big Spring TX for a weekend with the Big Spring Kennel Club.

We do have a Mountain Time Zone site this week, South Jordan UT, just south of Salt Lake City, will be the place to be for four days with the Intermountain Kennel Club & the Utah Valley Kennel Club commencing tomorrow.  Our west coast shows won’t interfere with one another.  The Olympia Dog Fanciers Association’s two shows in Elma WA  are 1100 miles north of the Rio Hondo Kennel Club’s shows in Pomona CA.

The weather promises to be better this week in most venues (How could it be worse?)  So pack up the car, seek out your local show and spend some time with some of the nicest folks around and their beautiful AKC registered dogs.

RANKINGS RACE HEATS UP

In  preparing this week’s Traditional Top Ten Dogs. We were struck how close the race is among all but the Number One Dog.  We thought you might enjoy seeing this presented graphically.  We haven’t published the exact numbers as we don’t want to get into a debate on our methods of tabulating the as yet unverified numbers from the last two weekends.  We will just say that our mathematical model has been accurate to within 0.5 percent these last three years.

One of the two sites on which we have not yet reported is Marshalltown IA where the Heart of Iowa Kennel Club set up for the weekend.  It was a Bully weekend as the Bulldog, GCH CH Evergreen’s Miss Congeniality, was everybody’s favorite girl, taking home both big rosettes.

On Saturday, the 18 month old was challenged by the English Springer Spaniel, CH Tagalong Boy Oh Boy, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Fort Merrill Topsfield Yahoo, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Urban Pride Sharply Dressed, the Bedlington Terrier, CH Glaurieus Top Super Mod Elle, the Shih Tzu, CH Mei Sun’s 4 the Love of the Game, and the Briard, GCH CH La Vie Rose Dior August Mood CD.

MAURY COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

We don’t know if it’s the nasty weather or the lack of AKC representatives out there, but we are still getting results coming in from this past weekend.  Here in Tennessee the action was in the tony Nashville suburb of Franklin where the Maury County Kennel Club held two shows.

The weekend was all about the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, who captured both of the BIS this weekend.  On Saturday Teresa Marie Gallo might have chosen the Labrador Retriever, CH Mar-Moye Over and Under, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH CWSG CCH Sidearm Jungle Mufasa, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Winmors High Speed Chase, the Pug, GCH CH Kenshei’s and That’s the Way It Is, the Shiba Inu, GCH CH Royal’s Fame and Fortune, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Taliesin Fashion Forward, but she didn’t.

On Sunday, David Bolus preferred Scarlett over the Coonhound, AmStaff, Pug, & Collie from Saturday’s final, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Brookwood Diamond in the Rough, and the Xoloitzcuintli, CH Serranisimo Caliente.

The wins keep Scarlett securely in the Number Three Dog All Breeds spot.  This has been one exciting year so far.

(Photo by Tom Weigand, The Winning Image)

It may not have been a big weekend, but it was very likely the most beautiful venue in the dog world this week, the Valley Isle Kennel Club of Maui‘s two shows in Wailuku HI.  Roger & Paula Hartinger took turns picking a BIS and they would agree upon the same Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Fantasy Island's Inspiration.

On Saturday Roger, would choose the Doberman,  Isabella, over the Vizsla, CH Relwood's MGM Grand, the Basenji, CH Teazer Signet Bad Romance, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Slievecroob Micolene, the Papillon, GCH CH Okekai The Mighty Quinn, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Nalani Regency Time Brings Hope, and the  Shetland Sheepdog, CH Mindalyn-Winterset Sunrunner.

On Sunday Paula would have the same choices, save one, the Shih Tzu, CH Xeralane's Just Face It.  The wins brings Isabella’s 2011BIS  total to five this year.
