MORE HATBORO TERRIERS

CH Fleet St Fenway Fan

OK, OK, for our fellow Terrier noodges, Michelle Billings' Terrier final on day two were 1, 2, 3, & 4, the Airedale, CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke, a Bristish born, Canadian owned, Kerry Blue Terrier from the classes, Cranmoss Finbar of Colinca, the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, and the Norwich Terrier, CH Skyscots Poker Chip. Our thanks to the readers that helped us get the details on the Terriers.

HATBORO DAY TWO

On a day when Rio De Janeiro was named the host city of the 2016 Summer Olympics it seems fitting that the day two show of the Hatboro Dog Club would have a Brazilian BIS judge.

CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke

Mario Renato Leme Duarte was in the final ring with the Golden Retriever, CH Tempo's U'Ve Got What Gets Me, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Rokeena Carte Blanche, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, the Airedale Terrier, CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Schipperke, CH Dante's Fire When Ready, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Field Of Dreams

His BIS was the Airedale, Lucas, the nation's number four Terrier and 23rd dog all breeds. That's number six for Lucas this year. Congratualtions to breeders Shirley R Good & Susan S Rodgers, owners Torie Steele & Frank Pulice, and handler Ernesto Lara.

MORE HATBORO RESULTS

OK, before I’m charged with a bias in favor of Terriers (of which I am truly guilty), a reader did ask me to post the Terrier Group placements from Thursday’s Hatboro Dog Club show.

CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke

They were the Scottish Terrier, obviously, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, the Airedale, CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, and the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, in that order.

We expect more surprises before the week is out.

GREYHOUND NATIONAL SPECIATLY

CH Grand Cru Clos Erasmus

Among the many National Breed Clubs holding specialties this week in Pennsylvania is the Greyhound Club of America who had Michelle Billings judging the regular classes yesterday in Wrightstown PA. BISS was the 21 month old CH Grand Cru Clos Erasmus. “Era” completed her championship from the Bred By Exhibitor class with four Group Ones! To date she has racked up seven Group ones. Era was bred by Melanie Steele, Rindi Gaudet-Krickeberg & Clint Livingston, is owned by Melanie & Rindi, and handled by Rindi. Congratulations to them all.

HATBORO DAY ONE

Our only all breed dog show today is the Hatboro Dog Club’s opening show in Wrightstown PA. BIS judge at the Terrier heavy show was the veteran Michele Billings.

CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot

Her final consisted of the English Springer Spaniel, CH Wil-Orion's Twenty Twenty, the Afghan Hound, CH Genesis Silverado, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Sno Klassic Play The Game, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Bulldog, CH, Showbiz Razzle Dazzle and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek‘s Sangria V Barick.

Her Best In Show was the nation’s number one dog all breeds, the Scottie, Sadie. Sadie came out of a Terirer Group that was the largest seen so far this year with over 800 Terriers entered. It was such a stellar group that top twenty dogs were defeated in the breeds or failed to make the cut in the group judging. This will be a week to watch.

BIS went to the Peke, who is currently the number four Toy Dog, The Pekingese breed is one of the most interesting races this year, with the top two dogs tied for the most BIS, one is ahead on all breed points, while the other is ahead on number of Toy Groups won. We hope you get to see one or both of these dogs this year.

SHOW WATCH

Now for the rest of this week’s shows, the Chaparral & Mesilla Valley Kennel Clubs will team up to bring you four shows in Alamogordo NM. The only other cluster we have this week is in Hilo HI where the Kona Coast Kennel Club & the Orchid Island Dog Fancier Club will give three shows. Both sites will start the weekend on Friday.

Yucca Canyon Alamogordo NM

We only have one show in the Southeast Region this week, on Saturday in North Augusta SC where the Augusta Kennle Club will set up. Region two Region Three will have shows in two sites. The Fort Steuben Kennel Association & the Beaver County Kennel Club will team up for two days in Aliquippa PA while the Fulton County Ohio Kennel Club will go it alone for the weekend in Wauseon OH.

Nebraska Corn Field

The North Central Region has five shows in three locales, Sunday in Morris IL with the Stone City Kennel Club and Saturday and Sunday in Hutchinson MN and Lincoln NE with the Wright County Minnesota Kennel Club and the Cornhusker Kennel Club Of Lincoln, Nebraska, respectively.

Donner Trail

Our remaining shows are in Humble TX near Houston where the Greater Humble Area Kennel Club iwill set up Saturday & Sunday and in the Northern California town of Roseville with the Donner Trail Kennel Club (don’t eat the beef stew) also offering two shows.

After weeks of blazing heat and torrential rains, we expect beautiful weather is most locations. What better way to spend the weekend than at an AKC dog show?

IT'S TERRIER WEEK!

This week’s shows are dominated by the Philadelphia area lead up to Sunday’s all Terrier party, the Montgomery County Kennel Club show. The Hatboro Kennel Club will stage two shows Thursday & Friday in Wrightstown PA, followed by over 2500 dogs at Saturday’s Devon Dog Show Association’s even in Ludwig Corners PA. Sunday’s Montgomery County KC show will be in Blue Bell PA.

CH Efbe's Hidalgo At Goodspice
2008 Montgomery County Kennel Club BIS Winner

While entries are down by a third from two years ago (and shame on you clubs that are not supporting this show), the show is still, with over 1800 dogs entered, the granddaddy of limited breed shows. Not only is it the largest, it is eclipsed in prestige only by the Westminster Kennel Club show. While the total entry is down, there are still some impressive entries within certain breeds. There are 162 American Staffordshire Terriers, 146 Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, 138 Border Terriers, 138 Scottish Terriers, and 126 Norwich Terriers. You can visit the INFODOG site to get details on the other Terrier Breeds.

We expect virtually every top Terrier in the country to be competing Sunday. Here’s our top five Terriers:

CH Roundgtown Mercedes Of Maryscot

CH J'Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice

CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune

CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke

CH Fleet St Fenway Fan

We will be in attendance as well and will be bringing you the ringside experience here. We will visit as many of the rings as we can and hope to meet as many of our readers as possible. Please stop and introduce yourself.

NEW YORK UPDATE

CH Troika Serendipity

Here’s the promised update on Sunday’s Elmira Kennel Club show in Romulus NY. We did tell you that the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, was Dr Alvin Krause’s BIS. The remaining six were the Labrador Retriever, CH Casbars Hart To Hart, Saturday’s Best In Show winner, the Scottish Deerhound, CH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisation, the Pekingese, CH Linn-Lee`s For The Good Times, the Dalmatian, CH Troika Serendipity, and the Bouvier des Flandres, Quiche`s Demetrius.

These four shows had the largest concentration of points in the US this past weekend with over 8,000 entries total. However, it made no difference in the tradition top ten standings (See the left side bar ofr the latest standings) What isn’t apparent is how tight the race is in the top ten. While our top three dogs are likely to stay in their respective positions, we expect a lot of jockeying for position for the rest of the year in spots four through ten.
