WEEKEND REPORT REGION FOUR

We only had a glimpse of Region Four, the North Central Region, over the weekend. We gave you the BIS winners from the Wheaton (IL) Kennel Club shows, but we didn’t have the other finalists.

CH Topsfield-Sanchu American Express

On Saturday, BIS winner the Cavalier, CH Mondiran VH Lamslag, was joined in Patricia Lapinski’s final by the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, CH Sandbar’s Stock Exxchange, the Basset Hound, CH Topsfield-Sanchu American Express, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Abadie’s Crystal Vision, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Cornerstoen Solioquy, the Lhasa Apso, CH Northwind Nothing But Trouble, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Quiche’s Demitrius.

CH Cedar C & Barnstorm’s Ltd Edition

On Sunday, judge Pamela Peat went over the English Springer Spaniel, CH Tiffany Esspecial Imagery, the Saluki, CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles Of Jatara, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Sno Klassic Play The Game, the Miniature Schnauser, CH Rampage Triple Crown, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Cedar C & Barnstorm’s Ltd Edition, and the Bouvier before choosing the Pug, CH Tupelo ShoBoat Tu China Tu, as her Best In Show.

CH Carrera Strike The Gold

Up in Jordan MN, they were having record low temperatures at the Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club’s shows. On Saturday judge Steve Hurt’s seven were the Golden Retriever, CH Carrera Strike The Gold, the Afghan Hound, CH Kassan’s Windwalker Of Skyview, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Jenda’s Hail The Queen, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Max-Well’s Viper, the Havanese, CH Heartland’s Rumor Has It, the Dalmatian, CH Paisley Nspird By Broadway, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Limerick’s Shakespeare.

Grabbing the heavy silver was the Golden, Albert. Better known as a sire than a current star of the show ring, this is the five year old’s first BIS this year. Congratulations to breeder/owner Jan Draper.

CH Jenda’s Hail The Queen

Sunday, Albert was back with the Bernese, the Norfolk, and the Bouvier. Also vying for judge Anne Fleming’s attention were the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Tji-Wara’s Distant Drums, the Pomeranian, CH Velocity’s Shake Ur Bon Bon, and the Bichon Frise, CH Height’s WWW.COM. What’s more appropriate on a cold day that a Bernese BIS? We haven’t seen much of this three year old girl, but she has two BIS in very limited showing. We tip our hat to breeder/owner/handler Jeni West.

Region Five Results up next.

WEEKEND REPORT REGION THREE

We are ready to move on to the Great Lakes Region, Region Three. Over the weekend we gave you complete results on the Michigan shows and a peek at the Kentucky shows, but we have talked about the McKinley Kennel Club shows in Canton OH.

CH Hillwood Dassin De-Lovely

Saturday, Keke Kahn made the BIS call from these seven, the Golden Retriever, CH Goldentrip Snow Dream, the 15” Beagle, CH Windkist's Stealin Hearts, the Boxer, CH Avalon's Urban Legend, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Talydales Friend Of The Force, the Papillon, CH StarSighn's Trickn St Nick, the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin De-Lovely, and the Puli, CH Catsun Corinth.

Her BIS was the Poodle, Sissy. Admittedly we don’t really know how to refer to this girl. So we will just say it this way. She is the top Standard currently competing every weekend. How’s that. She’s officially the number one Non-Sporting Dog. We look for her to improve her top twenty standing every month.

CH White Eagle's Celestial Sky

Sunday, it was Paula Hartinger in the final ring with the Sissy and the same Golden and Lakeland. Also on hand were the Pharaoh Hound, TiaRa Ne-Ne-Kabu Abu Simbel Ankh, the Samoyed, CH White Eagle's Celestial Sky, the Smooth Chihuahua, CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Fallfires Frist Frost.

Best In Show went to the Samoyed, Celeste. Now, Celeste doesn’t have as many breed points as some Sammies and she doesn’t have as many groups as others, but she has the most all breed BIS of any in her breed. Which would you rather have?

CH TMC Victorious Natasha For Sissy

Now, about those Paducah KY shows. Saturday, it was Elaine Mathis with the English Springer Spaniel, CH Capulets Innovation, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Highgates Andrew Of The Ridge, the Rottweiler, CH TMC Victorious Natasha For Sissy, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune, the Pomeranian, CH Castiles Endless Love, the Standard Poodle, CH Bar-None Dawin Travelin Man, and the Shetland Sheepdog, CH Jesstar Affirmation.

BIS went to one of the most popular red heads since Lucy, the Lakeland, Ranger. She is currently the country’s number three Terrier and number 15 all breed dog.

CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune

We told you that the Smooth Collie, CH Sunnland's Grand Entrance HIC, was Ellen Fetter’s BIS on Sunday, but we didn’t tell you the other finalists were Ranger, the Wolfhound, the English Springer Spaniel, CH Capulets Innovation, the Great Dane, KCWW V Mariners Skookum Chuck, the Pug, CH Brazos River Legal Lion, and the Bulldog, Benchmarks Murphy Brown Of Chenoweth.

Next, we have Region Four.

WEEKEND REPORT REGIONS ONE & TWO

We’ve had the pleasure of being introduced to some new dogs this weekend, but in Region One, the Northeast Region, most of our finalists were familiar faces.

CH Riverside Wicked Wonderful

On Sunday in Yorktown Heights NY judge Carl Gomes had BIS duty for the Longshore-Southport Kennel Club. His finalists were the Vizsla, CH Cinnabar's Sasco Finale, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Dun Myrica Speaker Of Eagle, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Foxlorr Double Dare, the Papillon, CH Arkeno's Ears To You, the French Bulldog, CH Shore Lookin' Good, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Riverside Wicked Wonderful.

BIS went to the number two dog in the US, the Dobernan, CJ. She has begun to open a substantial lead on the field trailing her, although she trails the number one dog, by 20,000 points.

Meanwhile in Region Two, the Southeast region, we have one more show to report out. We did tell you late lat night that the Whippet, CH Sporting Field's Bahama Sands was Dana Cline’s BIS at the Ashville Kennel Club’s Sunday show.

CH Phillmar Sobe Monster

The remaining finalists were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter's Mt. View Lookout, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Phillmar Sobe Monster, the Welsh Terrier, CH Bayleigh Shaireab's Super Hero, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Hickoryridge Tartan Pride, the Bichon Frise, CH Bodacious In Enemy Territory, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Woodside's Pacino.

We’ll be back with Region Three results.

We have another BIS winner to report. A fellow Whippet fan tells us that the Whippet, CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, accepted the Ashville Kennel Club’s top award from Dana Cline today.

BOUVIER BEST AGAIN

We admit that we expected one dog to dominate the shows in Vallejo CA, just not this one.

CH Avalons Frontier Sleepnlady Webber

Today, on day two of the Contra Costa Kennel Club’s shows, judge Patti Widick Neale, had a group varied in type and experience, including the Chesapeak Bay Retriever, CH Quail Ridge's Top Dee O Gee Maxamilian, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Soletrader Donald Duck, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Elexia Von Alpentraum, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of MaryScot, the Silky Terrier, CH Safire Rock It To The Stars, the Standard Poodle, Blue Skies Look At Me, and the Bouvier des Flandfres, CH Avalons Frontier Sleepnlady Webber.

We are sure happy we decided to designate the Bouvier, Webber, a DOG2WATCH, if somewhat belatedly. That’s five BIS in the last 30 days. Wow, we’re tired just watching.

LITTLE GUYS IN WHEATON

The Wheaton (IL) Kennel Club posted two shows this weekend and we have the names of both of the BIS winners. Saturday, judge Clay Coady recognized the little guy, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Mondrian VH Lamslag. Sunday, Pamela Peat went with the country’s number one Toy Dog, the Pug, CH Tupelo ShoBoat Tu China Tu.

ANOTHER NEW BIS WINNER

This just in from today’s Paducah (KY) Kennel Club show. We have another first timer all breed BIS winner, the Smooth Collie, CH Sunnland’s Grand Entrance HIC. Congratulations to breeders/ owners Blair & Marie Mullin, co-owner Tina Diede, and handler Diane Steele.

SAME DOGS, DIFFERENT DAY

Six of the seven finalists from Saturday’s Mount Pleasant Michigan Kennel Club show showed up in Dr Robert D Smith’s BIS ring at that club’s day two show.

CH Nanuke’s Still The One

Only the Toy Group anted up a new representative, the Pomeranian, CH Mountain Crest U Don’t Own Me. For those who don’t didn’t read yesterday’s report, the other finalists were the BIS winner, the Gordon Setter, CH Sastya Raggededge Peer Review, the Afghan Hound, CH Shenandoah Smoke And Mirrors, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Nanuke’s Still The One, the Border Terrier, CH Sirius’s I Could Be At CB’s, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Chaoyang’s Take It To The Limit, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Lambluv’s Daydream Believer.

Today the big rosette belonged to the Working Group candidate, the Malamute. Kimmy is the country’s number one Malamute and number ten Working Dog,

IT'S ANOTHER BIS FOR SCARLETT

We have an I-Reporter on site in Harrisonburg VA who has filed the following report on today’s Shenadoah Valley Kennel Club’s show.

CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream

Dr Sophia Kaluzniacki’s BIS lineup consisted of the Labrador Retriever, CH Salty Dog Of Tampa Bay, the 13” Beagle, Torquay Over The Top, Saturday’s BIS winner, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Sealyham Terrier, CH Efbe’s Merci Pour Le Poivre, the Italian Greyhound, CH Honore’s Lily-Belle, the Bulldog, CH Hetherbull Topline O-O, and the Belgian Sheepdog, CH La Neige’s A Kodak Moment.

Tomorrow may be another day, but for the Boxer, Scarlett, it was another Best In Show. The weekend isn’t over, but we predict that Scarlett will move up a couple of places in the top ten rankings.

CARLY IN FLAGSTAFF

CH Coventry Vanity Fair

We have a late report from the Flagstaff (AZ) Kennel Club show. Judge Denise Dean’s BIS winner Saturday was the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Coventry Vanity Fair. Last year’s number one Herding Dog and number ten all breeds has been quietly keeping her hand in this season. This year she has consistently been in the top 25 all breed and has six all breed BIS to her credit.
