WWW: THE TERRIER GROUP

GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky

Whom will be Watching at Westminster (WWW) in the Terrier Group?  Last year was a great year for Terriers with two in the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds, including the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky.  Sky has won just about every major title out there, including the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, but she has had mixed success at Westminster.  She suffered a rare defeat in the Terrier Group at Westminster last year, finishing Group Two behind the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneak’s a Peek.

However, Sky would go on to win 149 Terrier Groups and 85 BIS, defeating 107,102 dogs.  She has only been show sporadically this year, but has three BIS and five Terrier Groups to her credit. Sky was bred by A J Pertuit Jr, & Betty Seton, is owned by Victor Malzoni,  Torie Steele, Mary & Scott Olund ,& Diane Ryan, and handled by Gabriel Rangel.

GCH CH Goldsands Columbus

One of the few Terriers to best Sky in group competition is the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus.  Bosse was 2013’s Number Two Terrier and Number Seven Dog All Breeds with 27 BIS and 103 Terrier Groups.  Bosse’s 2013 resume includes three BIS and eight Terrier Groups so far.  Bosse was bred by Madeleine Sandell-Bark, owned by Mark Ulrich & Christina Areskough, and handled by Allison B Sunderman.

GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor

Also getting a great start this year was 2013’s Number Three Terrier, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor.  Jennie finished 2013 with 15 BIS and 70 Terrier Groups.  She has one BIS, two RBIS, and six Terrier Groups against some of the toughest competition we have seen this year.  was bred by Keith Bailey & Sharon Abmeyer, who co-own Jennie with Tony Lee, Xiangyu Xie, and handled by Luis Abreu.

GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie

The Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, is coming off a very successful weekend in Atlanta, where he won all three Terrier Groups, one RBIS, & one BIS, bringing his year-to-date take to Two BIS, three RBIS, and nine Terrier Groups.  Charlie was last year’s Number Six Terrier with 11 BIS and 35 Terrier Groups.  Charlie was bred by Eugene Z Zaphiris & Matthew H Stander, is owned by Victor Malzoni Jr & Cragsmoor Kennels Reg, and handled by Larry Cornelius.

Next up, the Toy Group.

  1. Some beautiful terriers to be represented for sure! I think we also have a possibility for a bit of a surprise. The Welsh Terrier bitch "Lexi", shown by Gabriel, if she gets through the breed competition to the group could have a good chance - at the National last fall on Montgomery day, WKC Terrier Group judge (who judged the breed's National) put up Lexi to BOB over Jennie. This happened earlier in the year last year also when the 2 girls went head-to-head, and last weekend in AZ, Lexi swept the terrier group each day and got a RBIS. I saw her a few weeks ago at the Portland shows and she was looking magnificent ... but, it all depends on if she gets out of the breed next Tuesday.... she has a chance ... done it before. Either way, both are beautiful examples of the Welsh Terrier breed.
