BLOODHOUND BEST IN VIRGINIA

GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess 

The country’s Number One Hound, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, was in Harrisonburg’s VA to claim the top prize at today’s Shenandoah Valley Kennel Club show.

Joining Nathan in judge David Kirkland’s final were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Bib 'N' Tux Diamonds Are Forever, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Winter Park's Look Sharp Live Smart, the RBIS, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious HamItUp Southern Bell, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Brimar's Spirit Of A Storm. Nathan is also the country’s Number Eight Dog All Breeds with six BIS and 17 Hound Groups this year.

Our last Friday report comes in from Hanford CA where the Sequoia Kennel Club hosted their day two show. Vying for BIS judge Keke Kahn’s attention were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Vjk-Myst Garbonita’s California Journey, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s Daggarwood Delight, the Boxer, GCH CH Hijinx This Is How I Roll, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Round Town Queen Of Hearts Of Maryscot, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Champagne Celebration Midnightdancer Donnchada Nld, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Brocade Lil Deuce Coupe Barjen. 

GCH CH Hijinx This Is How I Roll 

Go to the head of the line was the GSP, CJ, followed by the Boxer, Semi. It was the second BIS in eight final appearances this year and his first after taking medical leave in January. Welcome back CJ!

SHIH TZU BIS IN SAN ANTONIO

 Judge Houston Clark had the final ring at the Kennel Club of Greater Victoria’s encore Friday in San Antonio TX. The seven dogs he considered were the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Iceage v Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the RBIS, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom's Classified Credentials, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky.

GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto 

Packing up the big rosette was the Shih Tzu from Michigan, Rocket. Taking home the reserve ribbon was the Swiss from Texas, Gus. Rocket is the Number Three Toy Dog this year with two BIS and 23 Toy Groups, including last month’s Westminster Kennel Club Toy Group.

BOXER BEST IN TENNESSEE

The Tullahoma Kennel Club of Tennessee show in Franklin TN, just south of Nashville, is a traditional stop for dogs on their way to the big Kentuckiana weekend in Louisville. Judge Johan Becerra-Hernandez chose his BIS and RBIS from the Weimaraner, GCH CH Docs Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydach’s Ride My Ducati SW, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto’s Speak of the Devil, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval sweet Time, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Ananas Champagne Wishes, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

He chose the Boxer, Devlin, for his Best and the Dachshund, Ducati, for his Reserve. It was the fourth BIS in seven trips to the final ring this year for the country’s Number Two Working Dog.

GCH CH Skara Braes I Was Worth The Wait 

Traveling to and from shows this week continues to be a dangerous proposition. Milton NY, 75 miles up the Hudson River from New York, is our lone northern venue this weekend, hosting the Monticello New York Kennel Club’s two shows.

The seven dogs that braved the weather and stayed all day to see BIS judge James Covey were the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Skara Braes I Was Worth The Wait, the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Tarabon Tuxedo Junction, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Mistel’s Can Can, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Foxhaus Skyfall At Foxhollow, the GCH CH Belaire's Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Gala Brighton Lakeridge Reflections Of Me, and the Old English sheepdog, GCH CH Bagatelle Rolling Moon Stone. 

Best went to the Gordon, Cedric, and Reserve to the Dachshund, Buster. It was the first BIS of the year for the six year old dog. Congratulations to breeder/owner Sherrie Grober, co-breeder Joanne Van Aller, and handler Deidre Dunbar.

POM BEST IN CALIFORNIA

While we are happy to be back in our home state of Tennessee, we do miss the California weather. While exhibitors here were freezing, those at Thursday’s Sequoia Kennel Club show in Hanford CA were enjoying perfect weather. The seven who stayed all day to see BIS judge Norman Patton were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper's Let Freedom Ring, the Ibizan Hound, GCH CH Paradise Bette Davis Eyes, the Boxer, GCH CH Hijinx This Is How I Roll, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Candar’s This Girl Is On Fire, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Rosewoods Midas Touch Of Kansten.

Taking the BIS was the Pom, Danny. Collecting the RBIS was the Boston Terrier, Blaze. Danny is the nation’s Number One Toy Dog and Number Two Dog All Breeds with nine BIS and 18 Toy groups this year.

One dog dressed for the wintery weather Thursday was the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe, judge Dr Steven Keating’s Best In Show at the Kennel Club of Greater Victoria show in san Antonio TX.

Challenging Pilot for the win were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Iceage v Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Samoyed, GCH CH Polar Mist N Bark Barks Built Tough, the RBIS, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Dancy’s Rough Rider, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky. It was the first BIS of 2015 for our Dog2Watch, Pilot, who had two BIS and eight Group Ones last year. Congratulations to breeder/owner Matthew Fan, owner Kiki Pratna, and handler Michael Brantley.

DACHSHUND BEST IN TENNESSEE

Exhibitors everywhere this side of the Rockies braved ice and snow to get to their shows this week. Judge Thomas Nesbitt did make it to the final ring at Thursday’s Nashville Kennel Club show in Franklin TN.. Joining him were the English springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy’s Random Titleist, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydachs Ride My Ducati SW, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto’s Speak of the Devil, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Abbeyrose Black Diamond, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char’s Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Schipperke, GCH CH Rivendel’s Barefoot Bandit, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copperridge’s Unforgettable.

Finishing one/two were the Dachshund, Ducati, and the Springer, Titleist. It was the first BIS of the year for Ducati, who was 2014’s Number One Dachshund (all varieties) with one BIS and 17 Hound Groups.

KEESHOND BIS IN SCOTTSDALE

Judge Michael Faulkner closed the big four day weekend in Scottsdale AZ by naming the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, his Best In Show at Monday’s Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association show.

Judge Faulkner also liked the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, whom he named his Reserve. Rounding out his seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Sweetgrass White Diamonds, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Darbydales The Journey Continues, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Yanga’s All the Time, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copper Hills No Reservation. 

 The win makes Cubit the Number One Non-Sporting Dog with three BIS and 14 Non-Sporting Groups. We will have to wait for the rest of this week’s numbers to determine if Cubit made it into the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.

POM BIS IN SCOTTSDALE

The nation’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitime What the Inferno, kept up the pressure on Number One with a Best In Show at Sunday’s big Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association show in that Arizona city.

Challenging Danny for judge Vicki Abbot’s favor were the 2015 Westminster Sporting Group winner, the RBIS, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Sweetgrass White Diamonds, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Limited Edition, the Doberman Pincher, GCH CH Excelsias This Side Of Paradise, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsand’s Billie Jean CA, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copper Hill’s No Reservations. Danny now has eight BIS and 16 Toy Groups this year.

The Belle-City Kennel Club shows at Purina Farms in Gray Summit MO are always well attended with yesterday’s event drawing 1250 dogs. The seven that stayed to the end to see judge Brian Meyer were the English Setter, GCH CH SetR Ridge’s National Pride N Glory, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Dikerdachs Blake, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Phillmar Superman, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Abbeyrose Black Diamond, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny for Your Thought, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Sabe’s Simply Invincible, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

The two that picked up the top prizes were the Welsh Terrier, GiGi, and the Boston Terrier, Vinny. It was the first BIS of the year for GiGi, who finished 2014 with one BIS and 12 Terrier Groups. We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Pensacola FL where judge Christopher Neale’s Best In Show was the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Passport What Did You Say SS, at Sunday’s Pensacola Dog Fanciers Association show.

Joining Jana and breeder/owner/handler Arvind DeBraganca in the final ring were the RBIS, the Irish Setter, GCH CH Evergreen’s Good Intentions, the Great Dane, GCH CH Journey’s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Reignon Lutra Fastest Girl In Town. The Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Marchwind Barbara Ann, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Hamilton’s Secret Agent of Bayshore.

BACK2BACK BIS FOR PEKE

GCH CH Pequest General Tso 

 It is the height of the season in Palm Beach FL and the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, is making the most of it. Not only is he enjoying the Florida weather, he is returning to his wintery Pennsylvania home with two more BIS. General Tso and breeder/owner/handler David Fitzpatrick captured both of the big rosettes offered by the Palm Beach County Dog Fanciers Association this weekend.

Challenging them for BIS judge Richard Paquette’s favor were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Leoralee's Barstool Boogie MS, the Boxer, CH Vixayo’s Golden Hammer, the Norwich Terrier, Wynward’s Boy O’ Boy, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Serekunda Only on Sunday, and the RBIS, the Border collie, GCH CH Majestic Elite Clever Endeavor PT. The General is now the country’s Number Five Toy Dog with four BIS and 17 Toy Groups this year.

The big numbers this week are in Scottsdale AZ where more than 2100 dogs entered Saturday’s Superstition Kennel Club show. The seven dogs asking BIS judge Frederick Dewsbury for all those points were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper’s Let Freedom Ring, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah CA, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Surefyre’s Once In A Blue Moon, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copper Hill’s No Reservations.

The country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn, braved the wintery forecast for the Midwest to take the top prize at Saturday’s Belle-City Kennel Club show at Purina Farms in Gray Summit MO, outside of St Louis.

Joining Rumor and breeder/owner/handler Kent Boyles in judge Richard Edwin Lake’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the RBIS, Whippet, GCH CH Copperridge’s I love Lucy, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Phillmar Superman, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Abbeyrose Black Diamond, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A penny for Your Thought, and the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Sabe’s Simply Invincible. There are but four venues hosting all breed shows in the lower 48 states this week and two are in Florida. We already told you that the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, was judge Gayle Bontecou’s Best In Show at the Palm Beach Dog Fanciers Association show in West Palm Beach Saturday.

Meanwhile, judge Gloria Geringer was in Pensacola Saturday to name a BIS and RBIS for the Pensacola Dog Fanciers Association. Her seven options were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Evergreen Good Intentions, the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Passport What Did You Say SS, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Paragon's Absolutely Entertaining O'Kristari, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Reignon Lutra Fastest Girl In Town, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Marchwind Barbara Ann, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Iacta Alea Est De La Bete, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Hamilton’s Secret Agent Of Bayshore. 

Finishing one/two were the Setter,Vicenzo,  and the Dachshund, Jana. It was the first BIS of the year for Vicenzo and breeder/owner/handler Mary Merlo. Congratulations to Mary and co-breeders Deidre Dunbar & Marion Dunbar.
