SECOND BIS FOR SIBERIAN

GCH CH Topaz Bad Action 

Yesterday the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, was in Southern California collecting a BIS at the Conejo Kennel Club show in City of Industry CA. Today he was in the San Francisco Bay Area picking up the BIS at the Chief Solano Kennel Club show in Vallejo CA. 

 Joining Reese and handler Stephanie House in judge Dr Dale Simmons were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade's Pay It Forward, the Basset Hound GCH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town, the Maltese, CH P-Birdie Of Princess MTS, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Fulla Bull Soulja Boy, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Bon Idee's Love American Style RN CA CGC. 

The win brings Topaz’ 2014 record to two BIS and nine Working Groups.

HARRIER BIS IN IDAHO

GCH CH Pacific Happytail's Heartbreaker 

The Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers were far away from the crowds today in Lewiston ID for day two of the Lewiston spring cluster. 

Dr Gareth Morgan-Jones had the judge’s book for Saturday’s final and the company of the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash's Ruggedly Handsome, the Harrier, GCH CH Pacific Happytail's Heartbreaker, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peace River's Gathers No Moss At Sunstra, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Sierra's Ground Zero, the Havanese, GCH CH Peluito's Papi Chulo, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Country Luvz A Rockstar, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky.

The Medina Kennel Club is sharing the weekend in Columbus OH with the Central Ohio Kennel Club. Judge Joan Luna Liebes had the MKC final and her choice of the Golden Retriever, GCH CH My Buddy's Eye Of The Beholder RA NA, the Whippet, GCH CH Artemis Hypnotic Opium SC, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Philmar Superman, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Adiebabes Griffin In Sanherpinc, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Stratford's Rose De France, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Ken's Always Gets The Last Laugh, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear.

A Best In Show at the Old Dominion Kennel Club of Northern Virginia spring show has been for decades one of the most prestigious titles in the dog game. 

The seven hoping to secure the award from BIS judge Dorothy Collier were the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouths En Fuego, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Banbury Bedrock Bright Star Bright, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Tibetan Terrier, CH Aurora's Welcome To The Jungle, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar's Steel Blu.

This year’s title goes to the US’ Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portie, Matisse. The Reserve award went to the Chihuahua, Sonnito Matisse continues on his record pace, now standing at 36 BIS and 48 Working Groups this year.

SPRINGER WINS IN MASSACHUSETTS

CH Legacy Random Titleist 

The Pioneer Valley Kennel Club had the coveted Saturday spot in West Springfield MA and they put judge Peter Frost in the final ring. Joining him were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Tioka’s American Ride, the Akita GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Bluestone Mirror Mirror, the Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and a German Shepherd Dog from the classes, Keylis Spotlite Just Do It. Taking the BIS was the Springer, Titleist. Collecting the RBIS was the 18 month old GSD. 

 It’s the first BIS in seven final attempts for Titleist. Congratulations to breeder/owner Kellie, FitzGerald, co-breeders David Rand & Jason Douglas, and owners Robert & Sandra Mochoviak.

Our first results today come in from Zolfo Springs FL where the Heartland Dog Club of Florida is set up for the weekend. Today’s final was judge Col Joe Purkhiser’s call. The seven seeking his favor were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Edgewood Casino Celebrity, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Phelps Insignia, the Black Russian Terrier, GCH CH Malahovskiy Graf Rossiyskiy CD CGC RAE CA, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Ciarrai’s Beltane Embers, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kaylen’s Kahlua, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Targa Talk About Kaylens, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Captain Orange CGC.

The Bloomington Indiana Kennel Club had the Friday spot in Terre Haute IN and they asked judge Theresa Hundt to take the final ring. The seven dogs she went over were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo Magic Moment CGC, the Dandie Dinmont, GCH CH King’s Mtn. Angelina Ballerina, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Randalets Wok N In Sunshine, the Schipperke, CH Mardeck’s The Sorcerer’s Son, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Woodside's Megabucks.

Finishing one/two were the Beagle, Miss P, and the Setter, Teller. Miss P is now the Number One Hound in the US with four BIS and 15 Hound Groups after collecting three BIS and five Hound Groups this month.

The Shreveport Kennel Club opened The Casino Royale Cluster in Bossier City LA on Friday. Judge Dr Carol White-Moser had the final and a superb seven to consider. 

They were the Curly-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Clarion’s Blackberry Bramble, the 15” Beagle, Torquay Midnight Victory, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby's Taste with Gusto, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Thunderwood’s First Robin Of Spring, the Maltese, CH Scruffy’s-Validian Busy Buzzing Around, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Kimik’s Who Dunnit, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush.

Her BIS was the seven month old Beagle, Victoria, and her RBIS was the Corgi, Etta. It’s the first weekend out for Victoria and breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas. Victoria may very well be the  youngest Hound to ever win an AKC BIS.  All we can say is, Wow!

Thursday’s final was in the hands of judge Sheila DiNardo who considered the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper’s Let Freedom Ring, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek's Limited Edition, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pekingese, GCH CH Dunkirk Imagine That, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH Mickywins Mainio Skandia CGC, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Fly Me To The Moon. 

 Her Best was the Siberian, Reese, her Reserve, the Golden, Freedom. It’s the first BIS in eight final appearances this year for Reese. Congratulations to breeder/owner Cheryl French and handler Stephanie House.

The Golden, Freedom, would be the only of Thursday’s finalists to make it back to judge Robert Widden’s BIS ring. She was joined by the Basenji, GCH CH Jasiri-Sukari Win Tin Tin, the Boxer, GCH CH Hi Jinx This Is How I Roll, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Karmel’s Banana In Pajamas, and the Australian Cattle Dog, CH Kokopelli’s SoBe It.

Freedom, the Golden, took the BIS, the second time around, and the Pom, Danny, scampered away with the RBIS. The Golden Retriever breed is always competitive and this year is no exception with three Goldens currently in the Top Twenty Sporting Dogs. Freedom is the country’s Number One Golden Retriever with two BIS and ten Sporting Groups to her name this year.

New Englanders opened their show weekend with a stop in West Springfield MA for the Springfield Kennel Club’s day one shoe. Judge Pat Mowbray-Morgan considered the English Springer Spaniel, CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey's Deck Plate Leader, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay's Big Sur, the Colored Bull Terrier, Winsor-Bur Oak Empress Zoey Of Norden, the Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, the American Eskimo Dog, CH Sierra's Summer Celebration, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bagatelle Rolling Moon Stone.

Carrying away the big rosette was the Peke, followed by the Springer. Pekingese maven David Fitzpatrick’s latest is not yet 14 months old and has only been out in the rings a few weeks, but already has one RBIS, five Toy Groups, and now a BIS. We begin our Monday Morning Mop Up in Harrisburg PA where the Mason and Dixon Kennel Club closed the big four day weekend in Harrisburg PA. Dr Robert Indeglia had the final final and his pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Irish Terrier, CH Red Devil’s Irish, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH By Request Bon Mot, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool as a Cucumber.

BACK2BACK OES BIS IN SACRAMENTO

The Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo's Picture Perfect, kept up his pursuit of the Number One Dog, with his second consecutive BIS today. His latest win came at the Sacramento Kennel Club under judge Ken Murray.

Challenging for the win were the Brittany, CH Sanbar's Ride The Winds, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, judge Murray’s RBIS, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Ogee Saltus Ze Zahrabske, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo's Save Hjour Love For Me, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Forestcreek Louisiana Laginappe, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow. 

Swagger ends the weekend with 21 BIS and 42 Herding Groups year to date, a little less than 7000 points behind the Number One Dog.

ENCORE FOR IRISH SETTER IN WA

On Saturday the Irish Setter, CH Chamberlaynes Mutiny O' Captiva, picked up his first career BIS and followed it with another at today’s Ephrata-Moses Lake Kennel Club in Moses Lake WA.

The first of our Sunday show reports comes in from Warwick RI where the Rhode Island Kennel Club show wrapped a two day stop. The seven who stayed to the end to see judge William deVillanueve were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Pebwin Hocus Pocus, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Soonipi Friends In Low Places MLH, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Raindance Led Zeppelin Of Marquis, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Caledonian Tea Time Of Wolfpit, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Tres Beau Going My Way, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical's My Turn.

One of the season’s most prestigious titles is the Harrisburg Kennel Club Best In Show. The seven dogs hoping to capture the award on Saturday were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham, the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Efbe’s Thunder Rd at Burberry, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Bellefleet’s Living In The Fast Lane, and the Puli, GCH CH Wallbanger Fringe.

Adding the big rosette to his trophy wall was the Sammie, Bogey. Taking home the Reserve award was the MinPin, Classie. Bogey has had a very good month, picking up all three of his BIS and all four of his Working Group Firsts during the last 20 days.

The seven dogs topping the 2200 dog entry were the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Ashdown's Time To Thrill, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Looking For Trouble, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom’s Classified Credentials, the Pomeranian, CH Starfire’s Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH Marblehill’s Gleaming Icecaps, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has it V Kenlyn.

Judge Elliot Weiss, like 34 others this year, named the Portie, Matisse, his BIS. The GSD, Rumor went home with his second RBIS of the stop. Matisse goes home with all three of the big rosettes from this year's Peach Blossom Cluster, continuing a record setting pace with better than 45,000 points less than a third through the year.

A DANDIE FINISH IN INDIANA

 Crown Point IN, the site of this weekend’s Steel City Kennel Club shows, is only an hour from Chicago and drew some of the country’s top dogs to its Saturday show.

The seven who stayed all day to see BIS judge Judith Grown were the English Cocker Spaniel, CH Maple Lawn Rise To The Top, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeens Under The Influence, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I'll Have Another V Braeside, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Baliwick Honey Boo Boo, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Litilann’s Photo Finish, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Sierrarose Blue Saga. 

Going to the front of the line was the Dandie, Angie, followed by the Rottweiler, Indy. We don’t get to see a Dandie Dinmont win many BIS, but Angie already has two in just three times in the final ring over the last three weeks.

Saturday was day three in Grove OK and the Northeast Oklahoma Kennel Club’s turn to host. They asked judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman to choose her top two from a seven that included the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Whippet, GCH CH Bretica’s Gotcha By The Jewel, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Philmar Superman, the Colored Bull Terrier, CH Glentom’s Dirty Harry, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thought, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hears on Fire, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH McMatt's Autumn Breeze. 

CH Philmar Superman 

She chose the Griff, Penny, as her Best and the Doberman, Clark, as her Reserve. It is the first this year for Penny, who was the RBIS in Grove on Friday. Congratulations to breeders Rodney & Linda Vance, owner Diane Burvee, and handler Paul D Catterson.

SALUKI BIS IN TEXAS

GCH CH Appalachia’s Allamyrra Hajji 

Texas fanciers are in the state capital for the hometown Austin Kennel Club’s two shows this weekend. Judge Dana Cline was presented with the Weimaraner, GCH CH Kristen’s On The Record with Ashmore, the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachia’s Allamyrra Hajji, the Siberian Husky, CH Suphan’s Mr. Goodness, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Birchbay’s Wild Side at Belfyre, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Ducat’s Smokin’ Hot, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

 Finishing one/two were the Saluki, Hajji, and the Pomeranian, Danny. It’s the second BIS in six final appearances this year for Hajii.

The Terry-All Kennel Club is hosting two rare Mountain Time Zone shows this weekend. Their day one show ended with judge Lee Brown in the final ring with the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Smooth Dachshund, CH Bensara Sunkissed Sky, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Prairiefire’s Winter Hawk Of Snowy Pines, the Skye Terrier, CH Royalist Son Knight I Kulbreeze, the Havanese, GCH CH Joyfulnoise Come Fly With Me CDX, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Major Leagues Mighty Joe At Winsome, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky. 

His BIS was the Brittany and his RBIS was the Havanese. It was the fourth BIS in 18 final appearances for Beckett, the nation’s Number One Sporting Dog.
