SKOKIE VALLEY KC DAY ONE

Great Lakes fanciers moved their camp today from  Wheaton IL 30 miles southwest to Rosemont IL for today’s Skokie Valley Kennel Club show, the first of two at that site.  Keke Kahn had the first final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol Veni Vidi Vici, Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’Cobe Broxden Danea, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Joiei Bells Will Be Ringing, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy.

Judge Kahn went with the country’s Number Two Dog all Breeds, the Springer, Peyton, as her Reserve, and the nation’s Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Doberman, FiFi as her Best In Show.  FiFi shows no sign of letting up as we approach the end of the year, collecting her 45 big rosette of the year.  Gotta love that Christmas spirit!

GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire

It was the Forsyth Kennel Club’s turn to host today in Winston-Salem NC and they put Judy Harrington in charge of the final ring.  The seven seeking her approval were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Scottish Terrier Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Lowchen, GCH CH Windsor Bihar Chasing Rainbows, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Karizma’s Ike of Edale.

It’s a year in which the rare breeds in AKC are doing very well.  Today’s BIS was the IWS, Riley, and the RBIS was the Foxhound, Jewel.  Riley is the country’s Number One Irish Water Spaniel with 11 BIS in 41 finals.

Our first set of results today comes in from Miami FL where the Greater Miami Dog Club opened a two day set.  Today’s final was in the hands of Helen Lee James who chose her top two from the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Reece Afterhours JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Sportingfields Bahama Sands, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH  Dreamcatcher Major Victory Of Loki, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Gordon’s Bite of the Apple, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts On Fire, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nitesong at Morningstar.

Best went to the Standard Poodle, Flame, and Reserve went to the Corgi, Spencer.  Flame and handler Sarah Riedl have four BIS in 21 final appearances this year.

West coast fanciers were in Costa Mesa CA for yesterday’s Shoreline Dog Fanciers Association Of Orange County show.  The seven dogs that BIS judge Marcie Dobkin saw were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouette’s LifeInTheFastLane, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla’s Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Rufkin’s Squeezin Into A Speedo Kh, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

Taking home the Reserve win was the Number Ten Dog All Breeds, the Boxer, Danny.  Collecting yet another Best In Show was the Number Four Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox, Sky.  As we noted in our Friday Back Story on Best In Show Daily.  Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel have won an astonishing 92 percent of the finals they have entered, collecting 35 BIS along the way.

They do things big in Texas and yesterday’s Texas Kennel Club show in Dallas was no exception, drawing near 1700 dogs.  The seven that made it to Jacqueline M Rayner’s final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Boxer, GCH CH Wynfall I Dream of Style, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Texas Hold’Em, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy spaniel, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

Starting the week with a BIS was the Boxer, Macey, while the scrappy Norwich, Decker, grabbed the RBIS.  Macey takes an impressive 22 BIS and 48 Working Groups to Orlando next week.  Look for me at the Boxer ring at 8:00 AM on Sunday.
