The Number Two Dog, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse,  is in Hamilton OH for the Warren County Kennel Club Of Ohio & the Cincinnati Kennel Club four shows.  Matisse and handler Michael Scott swept to the top award at yesterday’s WCKCO opener, leaving the Reserve ribbon for the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket To Ride.

Rounding out Norm Patton’s final were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc N’ Camelot’s Heaven Can Wait, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Jakar An Affair Most Wicked, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Bells Will Be Ringing, the Bulldog, GCH CH Wilson-Dixon’s WD 40, and the Puli, CH Cordmaker Topys Turvey.  Matisse matches the Number One in BIS won, 26, but lags behind in points.  Yet there is still lots of weekend and lots of points left.

NUMBER ONE GETS ANOTHER BIS

In addition to the Atlantic Memorial Classic, there are five other sites around the US that are hosting four show clusters.   Our Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, was in Pomona CA for the California Mission Circuit opener, the Los Encinos Kennel Club show.

CH Take Aim's Playing For Gryffindor

Sky padded her already substantial lead with another BIS, impressing judge James Covey more than did his RBIS, the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Take Aim's Playing For Gryffindor, whom he liked better than the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistle Stop’s Wind On The Water, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Diablo’s Dark Knight’s Nemesis, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Cortereal Iron Man, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà Vu, and the Chow Chow, CH Fortune’s Rocky Mountain High.

We have Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel at 26 BIS this year and better than 8,000 points ahead of the rest of the pack.

STATEN ISLAND KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Dawnglo Knight Rider

The Staten Island Kennel Club had the opener for the four day Atlantic Shore Memorial Classic in Freehold NJ.  Judge Marjorie Martorella had the day one final and the task to choose a top two from the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Dawnglo Knight Rider, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Samoyed, GCH CH Mystic Oz’s Lights Camera Action, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Angel’s Whisper, the Toy poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Sakura, the Schipperke, GCH CH De Lamer Sea Ya At The Top, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Celebration.

The two she liked were her BIS, the Cocker, Kitt, and the Airedale, Wispa.  It was the first BIS for Kitt, the first for owner/handler Liz Neff, and the first in nearly 30 years for a black English Cocker.  Congratulations to Liz, breeder/owner Sandra LaFlamme, and co-breeders Beth Hendrick & Celie Florence.

DAYS ONE & TWO IN NEW CASTLE

GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It

The Western Michigan Apple Blossom Cluster is not the only five day cluster this week nor the largest, that distinction goes to the Memorial Weekend Classic in New Castle PA where today’s New Castle Kennel Club entry is 1803.

GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls

They started on Thursday in New Castle with the Laurel Highlands Kennel Association show.  Day one ended with judge Douglas Johnson looking over the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Phelps Insignia, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Rosewood’s Royal Flush, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Jesstar Nirvana.

It was the little guy, the Pug, JJ, grabbing the big rosette, while the Shar-Pei, Tinsel, picked up the Reserve ribbon.  JJ is the Number Two Toy Dog and the Number Nine Dog All Breeds with seven BIS this year.

GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire

Yesterday it was judge Jeffrey Bazell in the final ring for the Trumbull County Kennel Club.  His seven hopefuls were the above named IWS, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Ariel Bella Donna, the same Welsh Terrier, Jennie, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Shar-Pei, Tinsel, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy of Merivern.

The second time around was lovelier for Tinsel, the Shar-Pei, as she collect the Best In Show.  Reserve went to the IWS, Riley.  Tinsel has been enjoying herself this year picking up three BIS and 12 Non-Sporting Groups.  This one will make her the Number One Shar-Pei in the US.
