TWO SPLIT-VENUE WEEKENDS IN NY

GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse

We return to the Northeast for our first report today and the results from the Chester Valley Kennel Club & Lancaster Kennel Club shows held May 10-12.  The CVKC kicked off the weekend in Ludwigs Corner PA on Friday.  Showing up for Paul Wilhauck’s final on Friday were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Dixieland Duchess, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket to Ride, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Bellefleets Living In The Fast Lane, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Solange Significant.

Walking away with the BIS & RBIS were the Country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Portie, Matisse, and the Number Nine Dog, the Pug, JJ.    Matisse has some ground to make up on the Number One Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, who had a 9,000 point lead going into May.

Day two’s final found the same Foxhound, Pug, Mini Poodle, & Sheltie in the ring with judge Charlotte McGowan.  Joining them were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Akita, GCH CH CR Wicca’s Trade Secret, and the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Banbury Bedrock Bright Star Bright.

Her top two were the Bull Terrier, YumYum, and the Pug, JJ.  It’s the first of for YumYum, who was the BOV at both the 2012 Montgomery County Kennel Club show and the 2013 Westminster Kennel Club Show.  Congratulations to breeders/owners R G Lamkins & Karin Lamkins & W E Mackay-Smith and owner Mary Remer.

In the grand tradition frequently found in the region, the split venue, exhibitors packed up and caravanned  60 miles further away to Lebanon PA for Sunday’s Lancaster Kennel Club show.  There they found judge Ann Hearn in the final ring with the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, GCH CH Chesastar Hudson Bay RN, the previously seen Foxhound, Jewel, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Alisaton Blackbird v Allure Beaulane, the Airedale, GCH CH Joval’s Angel’s whisper, the Pug, JJ, the aforementioned Mini Poodle, Laney, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

Redeeming his frequent traveler miles was the Pug, JJ, taking home the big rosette.   The Foxhound, Jewel, would take the Reserve ribbon back home.  JJ is the nation’s Number One Pug, Number Two Toy Dog, and, as we stated earlier, the Number Nine Dog All Breeds with six BIS this year.

When our home base was Brooklyn NY we looked forward to our weekends out on the Island (that’s Long Island, for those not from the area).  This past weekend the spilt venue belonged to the Ladies Kennel Association of America and the Long Island Kennel Club.  The LKCA opted for the show grounds in Oyster Bay NY.  Friday they asked judge Gary Andersen to take the opening day final.  The seven dogs asking for his consideration were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Starfield's Army Strong V Bulkley JH, the Bloodhound, GCH CH The Magpie's Sophisticated Lady, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic Mojo’s, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Joker Land's Glacyka FCI, the Papillon, GCH CH Wildfire on the Edge, the Bulldog, GCH CH Cherokee Legend Cowboy, and the above named Briard, Dill.

Taking home the day one BIS was the Briard, Dill.  RBIS went to the Sammie, Mojo.  We have seen a number of beautiful Briards this Year.  Dill is the Number One Briard with three BIS and 17 Herding groups this year.

CH Shyan's Let Freedom Ring

The following day it was Dill, the same Schnauzer, and Papillon, the Golden Retriever,  CH Shyan's Let Freedom Ring, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Aries Ciel Noir, the Boxer, CH Jacquet's Anne El Encanto, and the Standard Poodle, CH L'Paige Islands In The Stream.    The two judge Shorn Lyons preferred were the Afghan, Ryder, and the Golden, Lincoln.

Ryder would do it all over again the next day in Bethpage NY with the LIKC and judge Joan Scott.  Judge Scott would also like the previously seen Bulldog,  Cowboy, as her RBIS.  Rounding out her seven were the now familiar Golden, Boxer, Papillon, & Mini Poodle,  and the rough Collie, CH Milas Latin Fever

The wins were the first two this year for Ryder who also has eight Hound Groups to his credit in 2013.  Congratulations  to breeders/owners Perry Rooks & Christine Anderson-Smith, owner/handler & Phil Schafmayer, and owner Sharon Ferraro.
