WINDING DOWN THE YEAR

I-5 by Cole Case

Fanciers will be challenged this week with  the same travel hassles as the rest of this holiday week travelers, with fewer show venues and clogged airports and highways.

The big numbers will be in West Springfield MA, where the only Thanksgiving Day show, the Holyoke Kennel Club offering, will kick off a four day stay.  By the time the Windham County Kennel Club,  South Windsor Kennel Club, and Springfield Kennel Club, have finished judges will have seen more than 7,000 dogs.  The Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club will wait till Friday to kick off the four day stand in West Friendship MD with the Chesapeake Kennel Club Of Maryland, Upper Marlboro Kennel Club, & National Capital Kennel Club, rounding out the schedule.

The I-5 crowd will start the weekend on Friday with two days in Turlock CA with the Golden Valley Kennel Club, and then caravan 45 miles north to Stockton CA for two days with the San Joaquin Kennel Club.  The rest of the country will make do with standard two day fare in Tallmadge OH with the Agathon Kennel Club, in Chicago Heights IL with the Lake Shore Kennel Club, or in Alvarado TX with the Cen-Tex Kennel Club.  Remember fewer venues means you are more likely to get a last chance to see out top dogs as this show season winds down.  You do know that we are just starting our ten day countdown to the AKC/Eukanumba National Championship?
