Remember the Number One Dog, the formidable Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, is on hiatus.

GCH CH Rivendel’s Barefoot Bandit

It may be hard to think of a Skye Terrier in terms of momentum, but Charlie and handler Larry Cornelius have been on a remarkable run since capturing 2014’s largest prize, the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in December. They blitzed through the January’s ten show Florida Marathon, taking six BIS, one RBIS, & nine Group Ones, the most dominant performance on the circuit in the last decade. The followed with the RBIS at February’s Westminster Kennel Club show and one BIS, two RBIS, & four Group Ones at last week’s giant Kentuckiana Cluster in Louisville. Yesterday’s win brings Charlie’s 2015 record to ten BIS, six RBIS, and 24 Terrier Groups. The question is, are the wins big enough to move him up in the rankings? We will be the first to tell you.

One of the most educational dog related experiences we have had was being part of a joint AKC/CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) task force fighting the San Mateo County Pet Overpopulation Ordinance of 1990, the first in the US to implement anti-breeder regulations targeting hobbyists. It is little wonder that the San Mateo Kennel Club (SMKC) holds their show in the more pet friendly city of Vallejo in Solano County at the top of San Francisco Bay.
