WEST OAHU KENNEL CLUB 1

In contrast to the nasty weather and huge numbers of the Pacific Northwest show scene, was today’s West Oahu Kennel Club in Ewa HI.  Exhibitors were treated to the usual beautiful weather and a leisurely schedule with just 276 dogs present and competing.

The seven considered by for Best In Show by judge Sandy Wheat were the Labrador Retriever, Misty Mountain A Cut Above, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH El Caporal, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Fantasy Island’s Inspiration, the Kerry Blue Terrier, Waimanalo Blues Barney, the Pomeranian, CH Sofine’s So You Think You Can Dance, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Xerlane’s Kid Rock, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Aumoehoku Dipped In Chocolate.

Best went to the two year old Aussie, his career second  and his first of 2012.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Tina Beatty & Lily Bhalang.  Hopefully one of our island readers can send us a photo?

PORTLAND OR DAY THREE

GCH CH Windemere's Dusting Off White At Pevyne

Michele Billings took the judges book today for the Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon’s second show of the Rose City Classic in Portland OR.  The third day of the set was the largest with over 3000 dogs entered.  The seven dogs hoping to get all those points were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Shadowland's Paws For Applause At Tristar RN, the afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon's Mowgli the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your Heart, the Pekingese, GCH CH Windemere's Dusting Off White At Pevyne, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeriddge Encore, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

She chose as her Best, the Peke, Dusty.  It’s the first this year for Dusty, who finished 2011 as the Number One Pekingese in breed points and had two all breed BIS and 24 Toy Group Firsts.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Cody Koch & Joy Thomas and owners Joe & Carla Sanchez.

SAN FERNANDO KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar

Southern California dog fanciers were in Ventura CA for today’s San Fernando Kennel Club show.  The seven dogs who braved the rain and made it to George Marquis’ final were the English Setter, CH Palisades B52, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Abaca Shacone Native Spirit, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Bayley Hazen Blue, the Airedale, CH Penaire’s Chip Leader at Longvue, the Chinese crested, GCH CH Dejavu I Want ‘A Talk About Me, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Lebull New Hope Wooly Bully, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.  

Best went to the Corgi, Allie.  It’s the first BIS for the 23 month old bitch.  Allie is the daughter of 2008’s Number One Herding Dog, CH Coventry’s Vanity Fair.  We wouldn’t be surprised to find her following in her mother’s foot steps.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Bill Shelton, co-breeders Kerry Kirtley, S Leyerly and B Williams, owner Alex Geremia, and handler Jenny Wornall.

CENTRAL IOWA KC DAY ONE

GCH CH Aurora’s The Song and Dance Man

We hear tonight from Des Moines IA that Charles Trotter’s final seven at today’s Central Iowa Kennel Club were the Labrador Retriever, CH Briarwood’s Eye on the Prize, the Saluki, GCH CH The Aurora’s Song and Dance Man, the Samoyed, Sir Aston Martin of England, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Max-Well’s Diamond Thief, the Shih Tzu, CH Symarun‘s Love T‘Look, the Bulldog, GCH CH Newcomb’s War Paint, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder.

His BIS was the Saluki, Sammy D.  It’s the first BIS for Sammy D.  Congratulations to breeders Jay Stone & Carol Waymire & Barbara Wright and owners Julie Mueller and Eugene Blake. 

CARROLL KENNEL CLUB 2

GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box

Today the Carroll Kennel Club held their second show of the four day weekend in West Friendship MD.  The seven dogs lining up for Beverly Capstick’s examination were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The night, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur’s Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Sakura, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Georgio Armani, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Blackngold Wish Upon A Star D Arcey.

Her Best In Show was the Foxhound, Jewel.  It’s Jewel’s first AKC BIS, but we expect that Lisa Miller’s latest contribution to one of AKC’s rarest breeds will be collecting a few more big rosettes this year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Lisa Miller, co-breeders Harry  Miller & Connie Petrick, and owners Dr James & Jane Fitzpatrick.

NOVI MI DAY THREE

Buckridge‘s No Doubt About It

The Oakland County Kennel Club took over on day three in Novi MI and put Arley Hussin in the final ring with the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Afghan Hound, CH Mijkelh Sikanni Of Procyon, the Akita, Buckridge‘s No Doubt About It, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Quiche’s Grand Finale.

The big win went to the 11 month old Akita, Rocky.  This wunderkind picks up his first BIS in spectacular fashion besting both 2011’s  Number One and Number Five Dogs head to head.  Congratulations to breeders/owners David Osborn & Ellen Vanden Avond. 

FLORIDA THREE-PEAT

The Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, has picked up his third BIS on the Florida Marathon, taking today’s Clearwater Kennel Club show.  London was accompanied in Jerry Watson’s final by the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Harrier, CH Tallyho The Time of My Life, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Rumpus Bumpus.

No other dog has dominated the Florida Classic in Brooksville FL as has the 2011 AKC/National Championship.  Handler Ann Rairigh and London now have that all important momentum going into next month’s Westminster Kennel Club show.

CARROLL KENNEL CLUB

Before we turn in tonight, we want to give you the results from Friday’s Carroll Kennel Club show in West Friendship MD.  Linda Robey’s final seven included, the English Setter, GCH CH Wyndswept Encore, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Spring Valley's Always There , the Boxer, CH Hi-Tech Hi-Drama Of Sherry Shoot Jp, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Sakura, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde’s Take One.

It was the Toy Poodle collecting her first AKC BIS.  This should come as no surprise to you since you all have been reading our new daily column, the Back Story, over on Best In Show Daily and recall that back on January 12th we told you that the 22 month old bitch is the newest collaboration of breeder Yukiko Omura., owners Ron Scott & Debbie Burke, and handler Kaz Hosaka, the same team that brought you CH Smash Jp Win a Victory, the Number One Dog All Breeds in 2007, and GCH CH Smash Jp Moon Walk, the Number Six Dog  All Breeds in 2009.  Our congratulations to them all.   We hope to have a photo for you soon.

PORTLAND POT BOILER

We have another back2back BIS winner to report.  The Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, posted the consecutive win at today’s Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon show in Portland OR Dana Cline chose FiFi as his Best In Show over the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands,  the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your Heart, the Pekingese, GCH CH  Windemere's Dusting Off White At Pevyne, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

FiFi’s 21st career BIS, possibly her largest, catapults her into contention for the Number One Dog All Breeds.  Portland OR  is turning out to be a real pot boiler.

NOVI MI DAY TWO

The Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, collected the back2back BIS today in Novi Mi at the day two show of the Livonia Kennel Club.  Joining Joey and handler Ernesto Lara in Norm Patton’s final were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Afghan Hound, CH Mijkelh Sikanni Of Procyon, an eleven month old Akita from the Puppy classes, Buckridge‘s No Doubt About It, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Puli, GCH CH Moonshadow Rongyos Kis Medve.

Last year’s Number Five Dog All Breeds was already a favorite for next month’s Westminster Kennel Club show.  This can’t hurt.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY EIGHT

We are nearing the end of the ten day Florida Marathon.  Robert Slay’s final at today’s Tampa Bay Kennel Club show, the eighth of the series, saw the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Afghan Hound, CH Criston Enchanted, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Pouch Cove's Lonesome Dove CD, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyline Captain hook, the Toy Fox Terrier, CH Prairie Farm Angel Eyes, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song At Morningstar.

Picking up his third BIS of year was the GWP, Oakley.  It’s beginning to look like we might have three Sporting Dogs in our initial Top Ten Dogs this year.

NOVI MI DAY ONE

Portland OR isn’t the only place fanciers can partake in a four show weekend.  The Livonia Kennel Club kicked off another four  show set in Novi MI on Thursday.  Barbara Dempsey Alderman’s select seven was a mix of last year’s Top Ten and this year’s Top Ten hopefuls, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casblanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Afghan Hound, CH Mijkelh Sikanni Of Procyon, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Beren’s Hope Of Thorn Hill, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Xtc’s What Can Brown Do For You?.

She chose last year’s Number Five Dog All Breeds, the Affenpinscher, Joey, as her Best In Show.  It’s Joey’s second of 2012.

PORTLAND OR DAY ONE

The Tualatin Kennel Club opened the big four days of all breed shows in Portland OR yesterday.   Carl Gene Liepman got the first look at the inside of the BIS ring.  His first day hopefuls were the German Shorthaired Pointer GCH CH Robin Crest Great Expectations, the Afghan Hound GCH CH Thaon’s Mowgli, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your heart, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Full Of Malarkey Miles Of Aisles, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Wigglesworth Thriller.

It was the Doberman, FiFi, picking up the big points.  FiFi and breeder/owner/handler Jocelyn Mullins continue their winning ways--FiFi was the Number 19 Dog All Breeds last year with 15 BIS and 44 Working Groups.  Congratulations to Joycelyn, co-breeder Kevin Mullins, and owners Suzy & Dick Lundy.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY SEVEN

The Florida Marathon continued today in Brooksville FL with the second time around for the Inverness Florida Kennel Club.  Victoria Jordan’s final seven featured the Weimaraner, GCH CH Northwoods send Money honey, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Mahali Arriva Meadowlark, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Hollywoods Sex and the City, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dacun Kaylen's He's A Heartbreaker, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Wolf Creek Galaxy of Merivern.

It was the Standard Poodle, Thomas, picking up his first BIS of the new year.  Thomas and owner/handler Kay Peiser fought their way out of a large breed entry, which included the winner of two of the last two shows of the set.  Kay & Thomas collected ten Bests in Show & 44 Non-sporting Groups in 2011.  Congratulations to Kay, breeders William Cunningham & Philip Dailey, and owner Virginia Dorris.

ANNAPOLIS KENNEL CLUB DAY ONE

The Annapolis Kennel Club opened the four day visit to West Friendship MD today.  Catherine DiGiacomo’s final included the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Edelmarke Investigator, the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Rottweiler,  CH Ecko Ridge’s Cookin’ with Gas, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Kimro’s Dora The Explorer, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar baby, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger.

Best went to the Collie, Finn.  It’s the first BIS for the four year old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Jacqueline A Caruso & Ronald Caruso  and handler Pete Denbow.

PORTLAND LIMITED BREEDS

Before we get to today’s all breed action, let’s talk about yesterday’s big limited breed shows in Portland OR.  The Mt Ranier Working Dog Club’s event drew more than 500 dogs.  Bill Shelton’s Best In Show was the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Catanya’s Latin Lover.  The Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Boxer R and G’s Mystical Dancer, and Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Shang-Hai's Shadow Of The Cascade rounded out the placements.

The Malamute, Ricky, has been among the top ten Working Dogs for the last three years, finishing 2011 with seven all breed Bests & 25 Working Groups.  Congratulations to breeders Congratulations to breeder/owner P J Kendrick, owners Armando Martinez & Alisa Syar, and handler Mike Stone.

While yesterday’s Terrier Association Of Oregon show was not as large as the working group, it was one of the largest Terrier Groups seen in the last year with over 300 entries.  It was the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your Heart, grabbing the first place.  Marjorie Underwood’s remaining placements were the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks a Peek, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH Ch Perrisblu Kennislain’s Chelsey, and the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful.

The Wire, Eira, finished 2011 as AKC’s Number One Terrier with a come from behind December, compiling 17 BIS & 51 Terrier Group Firsts.   Congratulations to breeders/owners Tori Steele & Mary Ann Roma, and handler Gabriel Rangel.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY SIX

The Florida Marathon resumed today in Brooksville FL with the second iteration of the Manatee Kennel Club.  Everyone had a day to catch their breath and the well rested seven who made it to Joseph F Joly III’s final were the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Aviance Solo’s He’s The One SL, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J-Cobe Broxden Danae, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Bo-Bett’s Open Button, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Beauceron, GCH CH Beowulf Rime des Monts du Lac.

Picking up the day six BIS was the Standard Poodle, London.  It’s the second of the set and new year for London, the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba Champion.   We predict that this will be one of the most exciting Westminsters on record.

GOLDEN TRIANGLE KC OF MS

We now have results from this past weekend’s Golden Triangle Kennel Club of Mississippi two shows.  We are not sure why it takes so long to get results from the Magnolia State.  With 315 dogs present & competing on Saturday, it couldn’t have been that difficult to compile the results.  Nonetheless, as we have often said here, these “Boutique Shows” often draw major talent.

James Ham’s final seven on Saturday were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Cajun’s A Change Is Gonna Come, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Boxer, GCH CH Breho Fortuity Shared Treasure, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, CH Empire n Divine’s Change in my Pocket, the Maltese, CH Chrisman’s Shiny Toy Gun, the Standard Poodle, CH Fantastico Da Maya, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Dawn Heir’s He’s The Boss.

Day one belonged to the Saluki, Bubbles.   Bubbles had one BIS and six Hound Groups in limited showing in 2011.  We look for Bubbles and handler Erin Roberts to improve on that in 2012.  Congratulations to Erin, breeder Kathleen Morton, and owners Sandra Middlebrook, Jackie Harrington & Sara Winsted.

On Sunday, Nancy Simmons saw the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Brookwood Diamond in the Ruff, the Whippet, CH Wildrbriar Whimsical of Longlesson, the aforementioned Boxer & Staffy Bull,  the Pekingese, GCH CH Benaire’s N’Elphasun’s Razzmatazz, the above named Standard Poodle, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Eden Crown’s Designer Label.

Her Best In Show was the Brazilian Import, the Standard Poodle, Fantastico.   Fantastico was Brazil’s Number One Dog All Breeds in 2010 with 41 all breed BIS.  Our congratulations on his first AKC show to breeder/owner Zuleika Torrealba and handler Christian Manelopoulos.  We told you that there was major talent at these boutique shows.

MEET A FUTURE WINNER

Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center

The new show year is now in full swing with today being one of the few off days to be found in January.  The Florida Marathon in Brooksville FL is enjoying the intermission between its two-five-show acts and will resume tomorrow with the Manatee Kennel Club’s second show of the stay.  The Inverness Florida Kennel Club, the Tampa Bay Kennel Club, the Clearwater Kennel Club, & the Pasco Florida Kennel Club will all host an additional show before its all over.

The big prize this week is in Portland OR with more than 10,000 points up for grabs when the Tualatin Kennel Club launches its four-show collaboration with the Dog Fanciers Association Of Oregon on Thursday.  Throw in two limited breed shows courtesy of the Terrier Association Of Oregon & the Mount Rainier Working Dog Club and a bucket full of specialties and you have one of the four biggest weekends of the year.

East Coast & Great Lakes Fanciers will also have four-show weekends beginning Thursday, the Annapolis Kennel Club & the Carroll Kennel Club in West Friendship MD and the Livonia Kennel Club & the Oakland County Kennel Club in Novi MI.  Traditional two day weekends are available in Des Moines IA with the Central Iowa Kennel Club, in Rosenberg TX in with the Fort Bend Kennel Club., in Ventura CA with the San Fernando Kennel Club & the Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association, and in Ewa HI with the West Oahu Kennel Club.

If you are lucky enough to be in Portland OR this week stop in at the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center and take in one of the most impressive dog shows held in the US.  You may even get introduced to a future National Champion or Westminster BIS winner.

TACOMA KENNEL CLUB

The Tacoma Kennel Club wrapped up the show weekend in Puyallup WAS yesterday with Bernadette Cox in the final ring.  The seven asking her for consideration were the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Harrier, GCH CH Hi-Tech Innovator, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dreamcatcher Major Victory Of Loki, the Wirehaired Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele You Heart, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Full Of Malarkey Miles Of Aisles, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Carben Copy’s If The Shoe Fits.

Picking up her second big B IS of the new season was the English Setter, Dazzle.  Dazzle and handler Bruce Schultz now take the lead in the early rankings race.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY FIVE

The Pasco Florida Kennel Club hosted their first round of the stay in Brooksville FL on day five of the Florida Marathon. Dr Carmen Battaglia greeted another surviving seven, the Weimaraner, GCH CH Northwood’s Send Money Honey, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Devil Wears Prada, the Welsh Terrier, CH Geri’s Gales Baron Rojo, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Austin Ally Van Aachen.

It was the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba National Champion, the Standard Poodle, London, roaring to the front of the pack.  London and handler Ann Rairigh came from behind to finish an impressive sixth in the 2011 All Breeds race with 34 BIS and 91 Non-Sporting Groups.  Our congratulations to Ann, breeders Sandra Tompkins & Chris Bailey, and owners Beth Harris, Michele Molnar, & Jamie Danburg.

Dog fanciers took advantage of the long holiday weekend to get in one more day of shows in this critical first month of the year.  In Fitchburg MA, the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club closed the four day stop with Judith Daniels’ final.  Her final final seven were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Numoon Yukon Anticipation, the 15’ Beagle, GCH CH Langrigg Star of the Stage, the Bullmastiff, CH Windover Hey There Handsome, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Pomeranian, CH CR Chase What Matters, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Firetown’s out of the Blue, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Windfall Slam Dunk.

Closing the set with his second BIS of the weekend was Noble Inglett’s newest offering, the Pom, Chase.  Two BIS in one weekend, a Noble Inglett Pomeranian, DOG2WATCH!

PUYALLUP VALLEY DOG FANCIERS

The Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers had the second day spot in their Washington State hometown.  Read about Saturday’s Sammamish Kennel Club show here.  Norm Patton’s final seven on Sunday were the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Greyhound, GCH CH Helios Foxglove At Heart, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Sendache's X-Mas X-Change V Astia, the Wirehaired Fox Terrier, GCH CH Steele Your Heart, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Full Of Malarkey Miles Of Aisles, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Smooth Collie, CH Cyndella's Yes, I'm Charmed.

Best was 2011’s Number Four Dog All Breeds, the Standard Poodle, Ally.  Ally finished up the year with 47 all breed Bests and 109 Non-Sporting Groups.  Handler Taffee McFadden, who piloted Ally to Sunday’s win, picked up nine of the 2011 BIS after stepping in for regular handler Tim Brazier, who is recovering from bypass surgery.  Our congratulations to Taffee & Tim, breeders L'Dyne Wicker Brennan & Debra Ferguson Jones, and owners Toni Sosnoff & Martin Sosnoff.

The Corpus Christie Kennel Club’s two shows were the place to be for Texas fanciers this weekend.  Dr Ronald Spritzer got the first look on Saturday with a final line up of the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Kan-Point's Leading The Chase, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH. Raydachs Playing With Fire V Gleishorbach SW, the Akita, GCH GCH CH Sherob Stardus It Had To Be You, the Scottish Terrier, CH Kelwyn's History In The Making, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey's Tails Of Mystery.
Day one went to one of Texas’ favorite sons, the Bichon, Drummer.  Drummer and handler Scott Sommer finished 2011 as the Number Ten Dog All Breeds with 25 BIS & 92 Non-Sporting Groups.  Congratulations to Scott, breeders Sandra & Keith Hanson & Shirley & Richard Hamilton, and owners Barbara Weidner, Laurie Darman, Kim Griffin, & Cecelia Ruggles.

Drummer and the aforementioned Dachshund & Akita were back on Sunday to see BIS judge Bev Capstick along with the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Red Dragon, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Texas Hold'Em, the Papillon, GCH CH Copella's Rising Attraction, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux's Kelly At Limerick.

She chose the Dachshund, Cinders, as her Best In Show.  Cinders was 2011’s Number One Wirehaired Dachshund with One BIS & Five Hound Groups.  She is well on her way to best that record this year.  Congratulations to breeders/owners James & Maria Sakoda, co-breeders  Jessica Smith & Shirley Ray, and handler Cheri J Koppenhaver.

TWO DAYS IN OSHKOSH

Our first stop on our Monday Morning Mop Up is Oshkosh WI.  Saturday’s Winnegamie Dog Club show ended with Garry Bassett’s  final with the German Shorthaired Pointer, Bleugras Going Platinum, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queen's Armada SL, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Sail Away Root Beer Float, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the Shih Tzu, CH Symarun's Love T'Look, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Barnstorm's Grissom TTCSI, and the Puli, CH Prydian Joshua.

BIS was the Border, Maya, her first of the year.  Maya & breeder/owner/handler Karen Fitzpatrick collected six BIS & 41 Terrier Groups in 2011.  Congratulations to Karen, co-breeder Tracy Van Niel, and fellow owners David Fitzpatrick DVM, Joyce Wilkinson, & Kiki Courtelis.

Eric Ringle had Sunday’s final for the Oshkosh Kennel Club and his pick of the Flat-Coated Retriever, Alidar Fast Break RN JH CD, the above named Dachshund, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Francesca's House Of Blues, the Border, Maya, the Pug, CH Patriot's Running Bull, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Ri Lee's Stellar Performance, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Frontier's License To Carry At Margaux.

His Best was the Dachshund, Cheese.   Cheese was the Number One Longhaired Dachshund lass year with six all breed Bests and 19 Hound Group Firsts.  Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Carlos Puig & co-breeder Wayne Heikes.

FITCHBURG MA DAY THREE

CH Hikay’s Witch With Attitude

We now have results from Fitchburg MA where the Merrimack Kennel Club had day three of the four day set.  Kathleen Steen pondered over the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Red Hot n’Blue, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Shabani’s Johnnie Walker Blue, the Akita, CH Hikay’s Witch With Attitude, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Larspur Arcadia Save Me a Spot, the Pomeranian, CH CR Chase What Matters, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood ale Kai Anthony, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.

She chose the Akita, Brusha, as her BIS.  An English import, we expect to see more of this girl.  Congratulations to breeder Irene Rushfirth, owner Keith Venezia, and handler Paul Levesque.

HAMBURG NY DAY THREE

The Ashtabula Kennel Club finished up the three day weekend in Hamburg NY with Gregory Anderson’s final.  His seven hopefuls were the Curly-coated Retriever, GCH CH Down Datrail Hunting Thrills CD, the Whippet, GCH CH Counterpoint Painted by Bohem SC, the Siberian Husky, CH Snoebear’s Silver Seduction, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Burrencroft Special Lad, the Miniature Pinscher, Wannabee Casanova, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Chaoyang Take It to the Limit, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Howlyn Short Circuit.

His BIS was the Curly Coat, Thriller.  It’s the first all breed Best for 2010’s Number One Curly-Coat.  Congratulations to breeder/owner, co-breeder Unson Akins, and owner Suzanne Macre & Dennis Akins.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY FOUR

The Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, added another BIS to her 2012 resume, grabbing today’s BIS on the Florida Marathon.  Charles Trotter’s other option’s at today’s Tampa Bay Kennel Club were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Harrier, CH Tallyho The Time of My Live, the Rottweiler, CH Hemlock’s Jack of Hearts RA, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain hook, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Beauceron, GCH CH Beowulf Rime des Monts du Lac.

Classie finished 2012 as the Number Three Toy Dog, but she takes the early lead in the Group this year.

FREDERICKSBURG VA DAY FIVE

Michael Faulkner closed out the five day set in Fredericksburg VA today with his final for the Chesapeake Kennel Club Of Maryland.  The final seven were the Vizsla, GCH CH Artisan Grouse Point Pink Panther JH, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Yarrow Venerie Vindictive, the Pug, GCH CH Kenshei’s And That’s The Way It Is, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker’s Rumpus Bumpus.

Picking up her second BIS of the stop was the Poodle, Sugar Baby.  Once again handler Kaz Hosaka has another great Poodle on his hands.  We are delighted to make this one a DOG2WATCH.

While we wait on today’s results, let’s give you some more results from yesterday.  Up in Fitchburg MA, Dana Cline had the final for the Greater Lowell Kennel Club.  His seven options were the Black Cocker, Spaniel, GCH CH Mario n Beechwood’s Midnight Express, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Langrigg Star of the Stage, the Akita, CH Hikay’s Witch With attitude, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Kell’s Touch of Fleet St, the Pomeranian, CH CR Chase What Matters, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Propwash Reckon.

His BIS was the two year old Pom, Chase, the latest protégé of Pomeranian maven, Noble Inglett.  Congratulations to Noble, breeders Robert & Celeste Solano, and owner Margo Koga.
