Our next stop is in Bucyrus OH for the Crawford County Kennel Club show. The seven dogs that stayed all day to see BIS judge Joe Gregory were the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Trinity's Tucked Under His Wing, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Samoyed, GCH CH White Eagle's The Sky's The Limit For Alpine Glo, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Trio’s Big Shot, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Floresta's LuckDragon CGC, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Chain Of Fools.

Judge Donna Buxton had the final at today’s Oconee River Kennel Club show in Watkinsville GA. Lining up for her inspection were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey's Deck Plate Leader, the Alaskan Malamute, CH Tugar's Taking On Tyson, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Crynwyd Caprice, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Starfire's Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Jade East Mission Into Space, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

FIRST TIME BIS WINNER IN UTAH

Friday was day two in South Jordan UT’s Beehive Cluster and judge Terry Stacy had the final for the Utah Valley Kennel Club. The seven dogs he considered were the GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Ogee Saltus Ze Zahrabske, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH First Class Willow Wind The Phoenix, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzosa Salvame From Afterglow, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

The two who impressed judge Stacy were his BIS, the Schnauzer, Ogee, and his RBIS, the Poodle, Dino. It was the first AKC BIS for the Westminster breed winner, the Croatian born Ogee. Congratulations to breeders Damir Skok & Monika Skok, owners Carol Davis-Earle, E Yamada, Brad Yamada & C Cheng, and handler Oscar Quiros.

The Purina Farms show grounds outside of St Louis MO was the site of Friday’s Rolla Missouri Kennel Club show. 

 The seven dogs that stayed all day to see BIS judge Francine Schwartz were the Weimaraner, CH Graysong N Silhouette’s Hey Jude, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria’s Vraiment Parfait, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Revenge, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char’s Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts On Fire, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy. 

The two taking top honors were the Doberman and the Smooth Fox. It was the first BIS in eight final appearances for the country’s Number One Doberman Pinscher, Zsa Zsa. Congratulations to breeders/owners Cambria Kennels (Jim & Ann Smith), and owners Karen Thompson, Glen Lajeski & Ann Wulbrecht.

The country’s Number One All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, started his weekend at the Badger Kennel Club show in Jefferson WI doing what he does best, winning.

GCH CH Lockenhaus' Rumor Has It V Kenlyn

Matisse was judge Dr Gerard Penta’s Best In Show and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus' Rumor Has It V Kenlyn, was his Reserve winner.  Rounding out his seven were the Parti-Colored Cocker Spaniel, CH Monthaven’s The Birdcage, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH  CH Elvbend’s Soldier’s March, the Bedlington Terrier, First Class Willow Wind Time & Again, the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH LTO Prosperity, and the Chow Chow,  CH Flamingstar The Lion King.

The win was Matisse’s 41st BIS in 54 final appearances this year, giving Matisse A 76 winning average, the best of any dog in the last 15 years, maybe more.

OES GETS FIRST BIS OF THE WEEK

The Utah Valley Kennel Club kicked off the four day Beehive Cluster in South Jordan UT on Thursday. Day one ended with judge Lee Whittier considering the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Del Prado's Bar Code W, the Akita, GCH CH Stardust's See You At The Show RN, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town, the Pug, GCH CH Winsome-Nirvana-Blaque Triple Play, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Major League’s Might Joe Winsome, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

It was the country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the OES, Swagger, taking the first BIS of the week. The Smooth Fox, Taylor, added the RBIS to her impressive 2014 resume. Swagger has 23 BIS, 13 RBIS, and 44 Herding Groups and is the only dog with a chance to catch the Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek, Impression de Matisse. Matisse begins the week with nearly 50,000 points. Thursday’s BIS puts Swagger within 8500 of the leader and a big 27,000 points ahead of the Number Three Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire. It is a year for the record books.

FIRST BUHUND BIS EVER!

Our final report from this weekend comes in from the Pacific Northwest where history was made at Sunday’s Walla Walla (WA) Kennel when Dana Cline named the Norwegian Buhund, GCH CH Jotunn Bella Binna, his Best In Show. It was the first BIS for the breed since its introduction in 2009./

On Saturday the Buhund, Binna, was judge RBIS behind the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltop’s GQ Cover Boy, who was the RBIS on Sunday. Also making Norm Patton’s final on Saturday were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Diamond MK The Eagle Has Landed, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Windbourne HD Ranch King Of The Road, the Akita, GCH CH Sondaisa Fyre When Ready CD CGC, the Miniature Bull terrier, GCH CH Cambria’s Kid N’ Play, and the Dalmatian, GCH CH Tramac Just Watchme Shine.

 It was the first of the year for the Griff, Giorgio. Congratulations to breeders Carole Ross & Sharon Tadlock, owner Pat Brown, and handler Sherri Lee.

Out on the West Coast in the SOCAL bedroom community of Chino, the Lake Matthews Kennel Club gathered the best of the southland for its two shows.  On Saturday BIS judge Faye Strauss saw the Weimaraner, GCH CH Simpatico Equal Justice, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Major League Mighty Joe At Winsome, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure At Wyndstar.

The two she liked were the Corgi, Allie, and the Borzoi, Glamour.  Allie was 2013’s Number Three Herding Dog with 11 BIS and 50 Herding Groups, but has not been out this year until recently.  Allie had to get by this year’s Number One Herding Dog, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, to take her first BIS and first Herding Group of 2014.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Bill Shelton, co-breeders Kerry Kirtley, Steve Leyerly and Beckie Williams, owner Alex Geremia, and handler Jenny Rangel.

However, the OES, Swagger, would be the Herding Group’s representative in judge Robert Schreve’s final on Sunday.  Judge Schreve would also see the same Weimaraner, Cairn, Pom, & Frenchie, and the Pharaoh Hound, GCH DC Mia Bakhu’s Sleeping With The Enemy Of Halllam MC.

Judge Schreve would go with Swagger as his BIS and the Pom, Danny, as his RBIS.  Swagger is the nation’s Number Two Dog All Breeds with 22 BIS and 43 Herding Groups.

Texans were in Crosby TX for this weekend’s Baytown Kennel Club shows. Judge Alane Gomez had the Saturday final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hill-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore of Me, the Borzoi, GCH CH Promises Crown Jewel Natalia, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Taste with Gusto, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Thunderwood’s First Robin of Spring, the Silky Terrier, GCH CH Tesoro Calla Lily Contessa, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copperridge What’s Your Dream.

 Her top two were the Aussie, Vivian, and the Bichon, Bingo. It was Vivian’s first in seven final appearances this year. Last weekend the King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, was in Nebraska collecting back2back BIS in Grand Island. He started this weekend with a BIS at the Seward County Kennel Club show in that Nebraska town. 

Joining Prosperity in Dr Robert Smith’s final were the Vizsla, CH Nyircsaszari Szilva Palinka, the Longhaired Dachshund, CH Bonnfel’s Spirit Dream Catcher, the RBIS, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Jenda’s Hanky Panky, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hell Raiser, the Miniature Poodle, CH Dalcristas On A Carousel, and the Australian Cattle Dog, CH Taylryders Dynomite.

HEART OF IOWA KENNEL CLUB

Midwestern fanciers were in Marshalltown IA this weekend for the Heart Of Iowa Kennel Club’s two shows. Saturday’s final featured judge Steve Hayden and the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato’s Caught Red Handed, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Delzar Sweet Sin-Sation, the Shih Tzu, CH Symarun’s Endless Love, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Folklore Celtic Crossfire Trail, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy. 

Day one’s BIS was the Saluki, Bubbles. The RBIS went to the Dal, Rafe. It was the third BIS in 14 final appearances this year for Bubbles and handler Erin Roberts.

On Sunday judge Carl Liepmann would see the same seven and choose the Sheltie, Brother, for his Best and the Dane, CH Lobato’s Caught Red Handed, for his Reserve. Brother is AKC’s Number One Sheltie with two BIS and 14 Herding Groups.

The Penn Treaty Kennel Club closed the three day set in Bear DE, putting judge Beth Sweigart in the final ring with the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Steadmor’s Take A Gander, the Scottish Deerhound, CH Foxcliffe Chelsea Piers, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Banbury Bedrock Bright Star Bright, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Dreamvale Tri Your Luck at Parkbury, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

Taking home the BIS was the Poodle, Flame. Getting the RBIS was the Deerhound, Chelsea. Flame started the week by taking one of the most prestigious awards in dogdom, the BOB at the 2014 Poodle Club of America National Specialty. Flame is the nation’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog and Number Three Dog All Breeds with thirteen BIS and 34 Non-Sporting Groups.

Judge John Ronald was in Florence SC for Saturday’s Myrtle Beach Kennel Club final. The dogs that he considered were the Irish Setter, CH Militza’s My Cherie Amour, the 13” Beagle, Torquay Midnight Victory, the Anatolian Shepherd Dog, CH Full Circle’s Treasure Island, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Bulldog, CH Imperious HamItUp Southern Bell, and the Border Collie, CH Triad Mr. Taylor.

Best went to the Pug, JJ, Reserve to the Bulldog, Annabelle. JJ is the nation’s Number One Pug and Number Eight Toy Dog with two BIS and nine Toy Groups this year.

These past two days have been devastating for the areas around our hometown of Memphis, with 25 dead in nearby communities in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. We feel blessed to have experienced nothing more severe than torrential rain, flash floods, and the loss of our TV and internet services for 24 hours.

We are now back on line and will renew our weekend wrap up by telling you that the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdowns Time to Thrill, picked up back2back BIS at the Fort St Clair Kennel Club shows in Eaton OH. On Saturday Alan was Dr Gareth Morgan-Jones’ BIS and the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Ultra Quest Go For The Gold, was her RBIS. Rounding out her final were the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Leorallee’s Bay Watch MW, the Boxer, CH Rummer Runs Black Magic, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Desire of Love Dell Antica Caledonia, the Boston Terrier, CH Sunwood Because I am Bob That’s Why, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar Steel Blu. FOUR DAYS IN ILLINOIS

GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell 

Our next stop is in Decatur IL where the Champaign Illinois Kennel Club, the Mattoon Kennel Club, and the Sandemac Kennel Club teamed up for four shows this past week. 

The CIKC had the Thursday & Friday spots, putting judge Marjorie Underwood in the final ring on day one. Joining her were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Vondura’s Xcelerator Belle Amie, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants on Fire, the Papillon, CH Wingssong Singular Sensation, the Dalmatian, CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Puli, CH Moonshadow A League of her Own BN RA. 

 Taking the top prizes were the Setter and the Puli. The Setter, Teller, is the country’s Number Sporting Dog with two BIS and 14 Sporting Groups. 

GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock N Rolla 

At Friday’s day two show BIS judge Carolyn Taylor would see Teller, the same Bloodhound, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Nightline Viking At Tanglewood, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock N Rolla, the above named Papillon & Bichon, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH McMatt's Autumn Breeze. 

Finishing one/two were the Wire Fox and the Papillon. It was the third BIS in eight final appearances this year for Rocky and handler Leo Garcini

 The Matoon Kennel Club had the coveted Saturday spot and judge Jay Richardson had the final say. The seven hoping to gain his favor were the English Setter, Teller, the Plott, GCH CH C-Cruz Mob Boss Vito’s Gotcha, the Bull Mastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo In 7he Making, the previously seen Border Terrier, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Déjàvu I Want’a Talk About Me, the aforementioned Dalmatian, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical Let’s Be Frank. 

 Grabbing all those points was the Border Terrier. Getting the day’s photo op was the Plott. Cinder is the nation’s Number One Border Terrier with three BIS and five Terrier Groups this year.

Returning on Sunday to judge Ralph Lemcke’s final were the Bloodhound, Nathan, the Border Terrier, Cinder, the Chinese Crested, Toby, and the Bichon, Remi. Rounding out the Sandemac Kennel Club final were the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue, the Mastiff, GCH CH Millenium Moonshine, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockhenhaus’ Rumor Has It V Kenlyn. 

Taking home the last of the prizes were Nathan the Bloodhound, with the BIS and Toby, the Chinese Crested, with the RBIS. Nathan retains his position as AKC’s Number One Hound with five BIS and 25 Hound Groups.

 Next we go to Birch Run MI where the country’s Number One Dog, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, added two more BIS to his record setting resume.

On Saturday Matisse impressed judge Anne Savory Bolus more than did her RBIS , the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Foxfire Full Force Gale, who impressed her more than did the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Crosswinds Absolut Ten Of Acadia, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Roundtown Everyday Magic of Maryscot, the Silky Terrier, GCH CH Stelin The Amazing Grace, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Bon Idee’s I’m Special Lord Miles. 

On Sunday, judge David Miller would send Matisse, to the front of the line followed by his RBIS, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Tsarshadow Kentucky Windage At Foxheart, the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Nonnies No Doubt, the same Coonhound, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin’s Strictly Confidential At Enginuity, and the above named Shar-Pei & Bouvier. 

Matisse has defeated nearly 50,000 dogs four months into the season, collecting 40 BIS and 53 Working Groups.

SUNDAY IN WEST VIRGINIA

GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop 

Fanciers were out in force this weekend and we begin our Monday Morning Mop Up in Morgantown VA where Sunday the Mountaineer Kennel Club wrapped a four day stop in Morgantown WV.

BIS judge William Usherwood had his pick of the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Saranac Toblerone, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Ice Cream V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Boston Terrier, Chaseland’s Bernice Bullard, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly. 

Best went to the Papillon, Jackson, Reserve to the Newfoundland, Sur. Jackson is the Number Four Toy Dog with four BIS and 21 Toy Groups.

TREASURE COAST KC OF FL

The German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks, spent the weekend in Vero Beach FL, soaking up the rays and picking up back2back BIS at the Treasure Coast Kennel Club of Florida’s two shows. 

GCH CH Seenworstaff Lucky Me 

On Saturday judge Walter Sommerfelt preferred Megabucks to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Seenworstaff Lucky Me, whom he preferred to the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Toy Box Double Dutch, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar Masterpiece, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Alpa’s Magic Man CGC, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Donavin's Caramel Macchiato, and the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Major League Homerun At TX Star. 

GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor 

Today Dr Carol White-Moser chose Megabucks as her BIS and the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, as her RBIS. Rounding out the final were the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Destiny As Good As It Gets CDX JH, the same Whippet, Juliet, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen's Jose Cuervo v Eastwood, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, and the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Stonehaven Espiritu Isabella de Ivoss. 

The two wins brings Megabucks 2014 tally to five BIS and 13 Herding Groups, good enough to make him AKC’s Number One German Shepherd Dog and the Number Eight Herding Dog.

GCH CH Classical’s My Turn 

Our New England offering this week were the South County Kennel Club shows in Richmond RI. Saturday ended with judge Janet Allen in the final ring with the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Quinsea’s War Admiral, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Soonipi Friends In Low Places, the Newfoundland, CH Bowater’s Pitching Aces, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Br’er Fox Philippa Of Hunterston, the Pug, GCH CH Foursquare The Student Prince, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Beauciel L’Autre Soeur, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. 

Best went to the Beardie and Reserve to the Wire Fox. It was the third BIS in 19 final appearances this year for Turner and handler Cliff Steele. 

GCH CH Fuzzy Farm It's Good to be the King

Both the Beardie and the Wire Fox would be back today to try their luck with judge Roland Pelland along with the Bloodhound, Garth. Joining them were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH SandsCape Pardon Me Boys , the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet’s Annie En Encanto, the Havanese, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm It's Good to be the King, and the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Nuuktok’s Kaneo Tikanni. 

 Finishing one/two were the Havanese and the Eskie. It’s the first for the latest from the folks at Fuzzy Farm. Congratulations to breeders/owners Steve Lawrence & Alice Lawrence.
