GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble 

Before we start with today’s results let’s tell you about Friday’s Lackawanna Kennel Club show. Judge Lowell Davis’ final featured the Irish setter, GCH CH Stoneypoint’s Time To Reign, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Scottish Terrier, CCH CH McVan’s To Russia With Love, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the Finnish Lapphund, GCH CH Lumiturpa Tapakka.

Taking the BIS was the Beagle, Miss P. Grabbing the RBIS was the Scottie, Knopa. It was the eighth BIS in 34 final appearances this year for Miss P.

TOP TWO MEET AGAIN

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect 

The hometown Greenville Kennel Club had the day two spot in that South Carolina city and they put judge Mary Ann Alston in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Goodtime Charlie, the Pug, GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious HamItUp Southern Bell, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. 

GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse 

She would name the country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, OES, Swagger, her Best and the Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portie, Matisse, her Reserve. It has become common for the top dogs to avoid one another through much of the season. We have been lucky this year to see several of our Top Ten Dogs frequently meeting at the same venue. Our Top Two have been particularly entertaining to watch. Swagger’s 2014 record now stands at 48 BIS and 86 Herding Groups.

POODLE BEST IN OHIO

GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire 

The nation’s Number Three Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, was judge Pat Trotter’s BIS at today’s Dan Emmett Kennel Club opener in Marion OH. Challenging Flame for the win were the RBIS, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Foxfire Full Force Gale, the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane "N" Blue Monday's Diamonds Are Decadent, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Sanherpinc Poporopo At Teritails, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation. 


GCH CH Telltale American Ride 

Flame is AKC’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog with 29 BIS in 76 final appearances this year.

GREENVILLE SC DAY ONE

After three weeks in Texas many of the nation’s top dogs have moved our canine traveling circus to Greenville SC for this week’s Carolina Foothills cluster, four shows hosted by the Piedmont Kennel Club and the Greenville Kennel Club.

Judge Frank Washabaugh had the final at today’s PKC opener and his choice of the Golden Retriever, CH Nautilus Keystone, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Emdeavor, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. 

Finishing one/two were the nation’s Number One and Number Two Dogs All Breeds, the PWD, Matisse, and the OES, Swagger. It was the 74th BIS in 98 final appearances this year for Matisse and handler Michael Scott.

Our last report from the past weekend comes in from Centre Hall PA and the Nita Nees Kennel Club who closed the four day stop Sunday with judge Gloria Geringer in the final ring. The seven dogs that stayed all day to see her were the English Setter, GCH CH StargazeR N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Dun Myrica Doctor Gonzo Of Eagle, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Efbe’s Thunder Rd At Burberry, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Aurora’s Welcome To The Jungle, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn. 

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret 

Picking up his second straight BIS was the Setter, Teller. Collecting the RBIS was the Akita, Trader. Competition for the Number One English Setter and the Number One Sporting Dog has been fierce this year. Teller is the Number One English Setter and the Number Three Sporting Dog with 11 BIS and 33 Sporting Groups.

The Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), made the most of the Paper Cities Kennel Club’s two show this weekend in Rothschild WI, taking home both the top prizes. 

On Saturday judge Houston Clark chose Sonnito out of groups that included the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Back By Popular Demand, the Basenji, GCH CH Laurel SSimply Shocking Sabrina, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato’s Caught Red Handed, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Epoch’s New York Minute, his RBIS, the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpets You Could Be Mine, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux’s Va Voom. 

Sunday judge Sheila DiNardo would consider five of Saturday’s finalists, the Whippet, Cottonwood Corsage, and the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Kamterra’s Legato, before naming Sonnito her Best and the Golden, Brodie, her Reserve. Sonnito is the country’s Number Two Toy Dog with 17 BIS and 45 Toy groups.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND KC

GCH CH Unique da Maya Dancing Queen 

It simply does not get more summer than Hilton Head Island SC, the perfect combination of nature and civilization, of sophistication and casual self-indulgence. This weekend found the Hilton Head Island Kennel Club set up for two days of doggy leisure in Ridgeland SC. 

The day one final was in the hands of judge Denny Mounce who chose his top two from the Weimaraner, GCH CH Docs Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Honey Pot Bee In Love With Me, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Holly Woods Angels N Demons, the Russell Terrier, CH Kajsenborg’s Dirty Diana, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique da Maya Dancing Queen, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Woodsides Megabucks.

Her Best was the Poodle, Marcie, and her Reserve was the Pug, JJ. Like every year we are blessed with several spectacular Standard Poodles this year. Marcie is the Number Three Standard Poodle, and Number 12 Non-Sporting Dog with three BIS and 20 Non-Sporting Groups this year. 

GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight 

Sunday judge Elizabeth Muthard would see the same Weimaraner, Russell, Pug, & GSD, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, and the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Belle. She would choose JJ, the Pug, for her BIS and the Giant, Knight, as her RBIS. It was the third BIS in 19 trips to the final ring this season for JJ and Handler Esteban Farias.

FOUR DAYS IN SOUTH BEND IN

One of the two four day clusters this week was in South Bend IN with the La Porte County Kennel Club, the Michiana Kennel Club, and the Berrien Kennel Club teamed up. At the LPCKC’s Thursday opener judge James White chose his top two from a seven that included the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Ansa Mo Caoimhin Modigliani CGC, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergrove’s Chateau De Castelnau, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Belle Creeks All I Care About Is Love, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, GCH CH Swan Crest The Power Of Love Eternal.

Taking home the set’s first BIS was the Skye, Charlie, while the Bichon, Flynn, grabbed the RBIS.   Charlie regains his position as Number One Terrier with his 16th BIS in 62 trips to the final ring this year.

 At Friday’s MKC show judge Rita Biddle would name the returning Wolfhound, Modigliani, her Best and Charlie, the Skye, her Reserve, while the same Springer, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo Magic Moment, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Déjà Vu I Want’a Talk About Me, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Litilann’s Show Time, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy, looked on.

 It was the first BIS in four final appearances for Modigliani this year. Congratulations to breeders/owners Kimberly Schaffter and Ashley Schaffter.

At Saturday’s MKC redux judge Terry DePietro considered the English Setter, GCH CH Legends What Women Want, the Otterhound, Aberdeen’s Under The Influence, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Coves Seabrook Enough Said, the Skye, Charlie, the Pug, GCH CH Pockets Jato Jetliner, the previously seen Standard Poodle, and the Briard, GCH CH Ne Orageuxs Flash Point.

GCH CH Litilann’s Show Time 

She chose the Briard, Sparkles, for her BIS and the Poodle, Landon, as her RBIS. It was the first BIS for Sparkles and handler Joan Scott. Congratulations to breeders Angela Dale, Dale Linder, & R Weber, owners Merry Jeanne Millner &Tommy Millner.

The Berrien Kennel Club closed he four day set with judge Robert Hutton in the final ring with the Thursday’s Springer, Randy, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles, the returning Newfoundland, Jordan, the Skye, Charlie, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thoughts, the Standard Poodle, Landon, and the Briard, Sparkles.

Going home with the BIS was the Poodle, Landon. Packing up the RBIS was the Springer, Randy. Landon’s father, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction was 2010’s Number Six Dog All Breeds. Landon has only just begun his specials career and already has two BIS and seven Non-Sporting groups this year.

PORTLAND KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Regency’s Play For Keeps 

Our lone west coast offering this week was the Portland Kennel Club’s two shows in that Oregon city. Judge Betty-Anne Stenmark had the Saturday final and her pick of the Brittany, GCH CH Sanbars Ride The Winds, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Foxtails Race For The Chase, the Portuguese Water Dog, CH Patriots Designer Girl CGC, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Regency’s Play For Keeps, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What The Inferno, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Lakeridge Atalanta Summer In Paris, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Wind Spirits Be Amazing Grace CD RE.

Best went to the Schnauzer, Keeper, Reserve to the Beagle, JJ. It was the first for Keeper in seven final appearances this year. Congratulations to breeder/owner Beverly J Verna, owners Duane R Lewis & Karin M Lewis, and handler Bill McFadden.

Sunday judge Rick Gschwender would see an all new seven, the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Southchase’s Wilbert Roy, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Topaz Bad Action, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo’s Save Hjour Love For Me, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltops GQ Cover Boy, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Kokopelli’s Sobe It.

He would choose the Field Spaniel, Gideon, as his BIS and the Cairn, Lexie, as his RBIS. Gideon is the nation’s Number Two Sporting Dog with eight BIS and 29 Sporting Groups this season.

MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

We didn’t really believe that our Monday Morning Mop Up would be coming to you from our family home in Memphis TN this week. We had expected to be blogging from a nearby hospital room. However, our surgery wildly exceeded our expectations and we are recovering, be it somewhat gingerly, sitting in our favorite chair in the family room. 

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect 

Though we may have been here in Memphis our eyes, like much of the dog world’s, were turned toward Houston TX’ Reliant Park were any of our top contenders were hoping to take home part of the mammoth points available. Four of our Top Ten dogs All Breeds made it to judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman’s final at Saturday’s Beaumont Kennel Club show, The Number One Dog, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Number Two Dog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, the Number Three Dog, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome. 

They were joined by the Saluki, GCH CH Appalachia’s Allamyrra Hajji, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom’s Classified Credentials, and the Maltese, GCH CH Scruffys-Validian Busy Buzzing Around. She would place Number One and Two in that order. The win bring Matisse’s 2014 resume to 72 BIS and 96 Working Groups. 

At Sunday's Galveston County Kennel Club show jJudge Helen Nietsch would see the same seven save two, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Kelwyn’s Gm Freestyle Flyer, and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Forestcreek Louisiana Lagniappe. She also picked Matisse and Swagger as her top two, naming the OES BIS and the Portie RBIS. Swagger heads into the back stretch with 47 BIS and 84 herding Groups this year.

SETTER BEST IN CENTRE HALL PA

When last we visited Centre Hall Pa it was to tell you that the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, had just collected back2back BIS at Thursday’s and Friday’s Chambersburg Kennel Club shows.

Saturday, it was the Nita Nees Kennel Club’s turn to host and judge Stephen Hubbell turn to call the final. His seven options were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazer N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Icecream V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Akita, Trader, the Sealyham Terrier, CH Efbes Thunder Rd At Burberry, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Xoloitzcuintli, GCH CH Bayshore Giorgio Armani, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH HaPenny Mirimar The Fab Fawn.

Taking home the big rosette was the Setter, Teller. Getting the reserve ribbon was the Sealyham, Teller is the nation’s Number Two Sporting Dog with Ten BIS and 32 Sporting Groups.

PUTNAM KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Pebbles Run Play It Again Ham

The Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles Run Play It Again Ham, joined the back2bck BIS club this weekend, posting his second consecutive BIS in Stormville NY. At Friday’s Putnam Kennel Club show Bogey was judge Linda Berberich’s BIS.

GCH CH Pine Cones Green Mountain Boy 

Joining them in the final were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Frost Oak N Quantrel’s Git R Done, the Saluki, GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, the RBIS, the Pug, GCH CH Pine Cones Green Mountain Boy, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s It’s My Turn CGC.

On Sunday judge Douglas Holloway chose Bogey from a seven that included the RBIS, the Brittany, GCH CH Millettes Sweet Memories OA OAJ NAP NJP NF, the Borzoi, GCH CH Raynbo’s Run For The Roses, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier , GCH CH Sheaman’s Son Of A Irishman, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash JP Beauty & Beat, the returning MiniPoodle, and the same Beardie.

The two wins brings Bogey’s 2014 resume to four BIS in 14 trips to the final ring, making Bogey the Number Four Working Dog.
