We are still feeling the effects of Tropical Storm Isaac all over the South.  Here in Memphis we have welcomed our second day of much needed rain, though we could have done without the power outages that accompanied the rain. Five hours down river is Monroe LA where fanciers have not let Isaac deter them from celebrating summer’s last fling.  Go here to read about the day one festivities.

On Saturday the Bayou Kennel Club chose Doris Cozart to man the final ring.  Her lineup included the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea JH, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Maya's Mockingbird, the Doberman Pinscher, Cambria’s Mint Condition, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot’s Texas Hold’Em, the Papillon, GCH CH Copella’s Rising Attraction, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Padow's Twilight Embrey In A New Moon At Asans, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Margaux's Stacked Deck.  Her Top Two were the Reserve, the Papillon, Peyton, and her BIS, the Chow.  It’s the first BIS for the not yet three year old.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Kurt Williams, owner Anita Sanders, and handler Michael Brantley

Sunday the Chow would be the only of  Saturday’s finalists to return to see Gloria Geringer in the Vicksburg Kennel Club Of Mississippi final.  He was joined by the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eeenie Meenie Moe, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Kerry Blue Terrier, CH Dornik‘s El Capitan, the Havanese, GCH CH Yaya Dancing Through Life, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.

She would go with the Boxer, Macey, as her Reserve, and the nation’s Number Two Dog, the GWP, Oakley, as her Best In Show.  The extended show schedule means we will have to wait a couple of more days to find out how close to the Number One Dog Oakley’s 45th BIS of the year brings him.

Dr Sophia Kaluzniacki wrapped up the weekend for the VKCM with the GWP, Oakley, the Basset, Tiger, the Boxer, Macey, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Texas Hold’Em (Decker), the Toy Poodle, Donnchada Angel Wings At Dulcinea, the Bulldog, Ancrum’s Magic Man, and the previously seen GSD.     The Boxer, Macey, picked up her second RBIS of the set, while the top prize went to the three year old Shepherd.  It’s his first BIS in 13 final appearances.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Pat Walker, co-breeder Mary Ann Imhoff, owner Edward Farrell, and handler Scott Yergin.
