PEKE BIS IN VIRGINIA

The Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, was judge Dawn Hansen’s BIS at today’s Skyline Kennel Club show in Fisherville VA. Also seeking judge Hansen’s favor were the English Setter, GCH CH Weymouths En Fuego, the Saluki, GCH CH Takara the Time is Now, the RBIS, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergrove's Enough Said, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH An Garda Deja Vu Looking At You, the French Bulldog, McBeth’s T-Bo Gator, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

General Tso is one of those dogs you don’t see every weekend, but when you do, he is probably going to be among the top winners. So far this year he has three BIS and nine Toy Groups this year.

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect

The San Francisco Bay area’s Woofstock cluster is billed as doggy love fest, but this year edition saw America’s top two dogs, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, fight to a draw this week in Vallejo CA.

The PWD, Matisse, and the OES, Swagger would each take home two BIS and two RBIS. Swagger would come out on top and Matisse would finish second at today’s Contra Costa Kennel Club show. BIS judge Bart Miller also considered the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Cat n Pats Luck of the Irish, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca Daggarwood Delight, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding v Sole Baye, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana's Sh-Boom, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzosa Salvame From Afterglow. We are looking forward to a long, hot summer.

DAY TWO IN NORWALK CT

GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell 

The Longshore-Southport Kennel Club wrapped up the two day stop in Norwalk CT with Beverly Vics’ final. The seven that stayed all day to see her were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Allure Playing with Fire, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Kimro n Spivas Super Trooper, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Ecco Lormi’s True grit of Dove-Cote, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Devinwood A Perfect Stranger.

Best went to the Setter, Teller, Reserve to the MinPin, Trooper. It was the sixth BIS in 20 trips to the final ring for Teller and his third in the last three weeks. Things are starting to heat up this summer.

CALCASIEU KENNEL CLUB DAY ONE

GCH CH Willow Ridge Risky Business 

Judge Fred Bassett had the day one final of the Calcasieu Kennel Club in Lake Charles LA and his pick of the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Basset Hound, GCH CH By U Cal’s Monkey on the Bayou, the Mastiff, GCH CH Willow Ridge Risky Business, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Explicit’s Full Throttle to Alpine, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

He chose the Mastiff, Kruz, as his BIS and the Bichon, Bingo, as his RBIS. Kruz and handler Collete Livingston have claimed seven BIS and 21 Working Groups this year.

MOUNT PLEASANT MI KC DAY ONE

The Mount Pleasant Michigan Kennel Club took over in Midland MI on Saturday and put Col Joe Purkhiser in the final ring. The seven dogs he saw were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Cambria's Vraiment Parfait, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine's Deck The Halls, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Travler Kelsie Overdrive.

The Collie, Driver, walked away with the BIS and the Shih Tzu, Rocket, collected the RBIS. It was the third BIS in nine trips to the final ring this year for Kelsie.

DAY ONE IN NORWALK CT

GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded 

Eastern exhibitors are spending another split venue weekend. The week started in Yorktown Heights NY with the Taconic Hills Kennel Club’s shows on Thursday and Friday and are concluding in Norwalk CT with the Greenwich Kennel Club’s and theLongshore-Southport Kennel Club two shows on Saturday and Sunday.

GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham 

The GKC day one final showcased judge James Reynolds in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Afghan Hour, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good time Charlie, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, CH Sanchi Pleasant Surprise, the Schipperke, GCH CH De LaMer Point Break, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly. 

 His Best was the Afghan, Matrix. His Reserve winner was the Sammie, Bogey. Matrix is the nation’s Number One Afghan Hound and the Number Two Hound with 13 BIS and 32 Hound Groups. We wait until all the numbers are in to see if the win is big enough to return him to the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.

OES BIS AT WOOFSTOCK SATURDAY

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect

We begin this morning’s reports with the results from the San Francisco Bay area. Vallejo CA. The Woofstock Cluster in Vallejo CA is a summertime stop that should be on everyone’s doggy bucket list. Not only does it always draw large entries and the top dogs, it’s hippy era, summer of love, theme is one of the most fun around. Throw in its proximity to California’s legendary wine country and you have the perfect vacation for dog lovers. 

This year’s edition features the dramatic face off between 2014’s top two dogs, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect. The two have dominated the final ring the first three days in Vallejo, with the PWD, Matisse, going BIS and the OES, Swagger, taking RBIS on Thursday & Friday and Swagger taking the top award and Matisse the Reserve on Saturday.

 Joining the two in judge Bill Shelton’s final at Saturday’s Contra Costa Kennel Club show were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Norwegian Elkhound, CH Vin-Melca's Daggarwood Delight, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, and the French Bulldog, GCH CH Fulla Bull Soulja Boy. 

Saturday’s win was worth 2107 points for Swagger, who now has 34 BIS and 62 Herding Groups on the year. Swagger trails Matisse by roughly 12,000 points at the mid-year point. You do remember that we are not yet at the mid-year point, right?

ASHVILLE KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor 

Judge Darle Heck had the final at today’s Ashville Kennel Club show in Fletcher NC. The seven dogs she considered were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc’s Greyborn North Star of Acadia, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Holly Woods Angels N Demons, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Po-Ba-Ri at Arundina, and the Finnish Lapphund, Lumiturpa Tapakka. 

 Best went to the country’s Number Two Terrier, the Welsh Terrier, Jennie. Reserve went to the Doberman. Jennie now has nine BIS and 35 Terrier groups to her credit this season.

SKYLINE KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now 

Our first report from today comes in from Fisherville VA where the Skyline Kennel Club opened the their two day stop. Judge Sahrol Candace Way would consider the Irish Setter, GCH CH Fyrethorn’s Pay It Forward, the Saluki, GCH CH Takara The Time Is Now, Boxer, GCH CH Jaquets Annie El Encanto, the Sealyham Terrier, GCH CH Efbe’s Thunder Rd At Burberry , the Pekingese, CH Pequest General Tso, the Tibetan Spaniel, CH Ambier’s Rokirk Whatever Lola Wants, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber. 

She would choose the Saluki as her BIS and the Tibetan Spaniel as her RBIS. It was the first for the Saluki, Ali. Congratulations to breeder/owner Pam Mohr, owner Jennifer Rimerman, and handler Lesley Potts.

MIDLAND MICHIGAN KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You 

The Midland Michigan Kennel Club were in their hometown with shows on Thursday and Friday. Day one ended with the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Easthill Broxden Woodland Lettuce Entertain You, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Shoreview’s Raise Your Glass, the Akita, GCH CH Mt Joy’s Hells Angel, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J'Cobe Broxden Shark Dressed Man, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Kedios Kell Reina de Corazones, in the final ring with judge Keke Kahn.

 Taking the Best In Show was the Golden, Dylan. Accepting the Reserve was the Shih Tzu, Rocket. It was the first BIS in ten trips to the final ring for Dylan and breeder/owner/handler Amy Booth. Congratulations to Amy, breeders Sharon Shilkoff & Sandra Kim Hoffen, and owners Cindy Collins, L Fernandes, Julie Supple, & Joe Ovalle.

Friday judge Barbara Alderman would see Dylan, Rocket, the returning Smooth Fox & Shar-Pei, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Ansa Mo Caoimhin Modigliani CGC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Kelview’s Ice Breaker V Mueller, the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Travler Kelise Overdrive. She would choose Rocket as her BIS and the Shar, Pei, Tinsel, as her RBIS. It was the third BIS in 17 final appearances this year for Rocket and breeder/owner/handler Luke Ehricht.
