BIG NAMES & NUMBERS IN HARRISBURG

GCH CH J’cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice

The big names were in Harrisburg PA for three days of big numbers.  You have Friday’s & Saturday’s results.  The Harrisburg Kennel Club closed it out Sunday with Carl Liepmann in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline‘s Chanel, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, Friday’s BIS winner, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH J’cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Pug, CH Riversong’s Broadway Joe, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Spitfire, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins. Best In Show was the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Smooth Fox, Dodger.  Dodger and owner/handler Amy Booth HAVE once again put some distance between them and the rest of the field in this year’s very close rankings race.

  6. Congratulations to Mrs. Booth & Dodger! I have not had the opportunity to see Dodger in person but I can't wait to see him at Montgomery County! Terrier expert Mr. Peter Green is judging. How exciting for Fox Terrier fanciers to see such a knowledgeable man judge their breed on such an important weekend! It's only a few weeks away!

  7. I agree with Betty. Montgomery will be extra exciting this year. I can't wait to see who Mr. Green puts up!!!! My fingers are crossed for Amy and Dodger!!

  8. Montgomery is a terrier weekend and I don't expect to see the peke, boxer, Irish and smooth there. Westminster is what I can't wait for!

  9. Montgomery County is a very special dog show. While it isn’t as big as it once was, it is still an experience to be savored. However, don’t apply your usual measures to it. While the last couple of years may have been predictable, there have been plenty examples of the three or four top Terriers being passed over for another at MCKC. Exhausting breed rings, unreliable weather, and exaggerated expectations have a way of reeking havoc with conventional wisdom. If you got to MCKC, just enjoy the company and all the lovely dogs, root for your favorite, but “don’t bet the lunch money.”

  10. Montgomery County Kennel Club is attached to three days of all breed competition that pulls large entries. The Peke, Boxer, Irish and Smooth may all very well be there. Especially the Smooth seeing as he is a Terrier and Montgomery is THE Terrier show (that pulls larger entries than a lot of all breed shows)! Montgomery brings out beautiful dogs that do not contend often and veterans that once ruled their ring, "conventional wisdom" should be about finding the best example of the breed, not neccessarily the one that wins the most. Best of luck to Amy and Dodger at MCKC this year!!!!

  11. I'm confident that Amy will do as she has done for years, and compete her charge where she thinks is best for him and his career. She's proven to be very clever in her decisions and it sure shows with her successes. I personally find it interesting (and a little humorous) that Montgomery County and the judge were brought up in this manner and in this forum.

  12. Why is it interesting or humorous that dog show people would be talking about a major specialty on a dog show discussion forum? Mr. Green will hopefully judge the winningest Smooth of all time. Knowing that Mr. Green has seen and shown some pretty nice smooths in his day I don't think it is a far streech that people might ponder the results of such a judging. As for Amy and Dodgers successes steming from clever decisions as to were to exhibit. I guess that has to be the only reason for how well they have done. It could not possibly be that they have deserved every win far and square. I bet the 70 something best in show judges who put them on top thought the same thing. I think we should respect a judges decision weither we agree or not. After all is that not why we all pay the entries, travel the distance, and pour our hearts and souls into this sport.

  13. IF Amy decides to attend MCKC with Dodger, is up to her professional opinion. The Bluerose team has done a great job deciding where to show Dodger to the highest level of success. Just because this is MCKC, Dodger does not have to be shown, not everyone showed up at Great Western either.

  14. Not sure why anyone thinks Dodger has to prove himself at this year's Montgomery. He won both Breeds and Groups at Great Western All Terrier shows, the Breed and a Group 2 at the Garden, the Breed at Montgomery, and Best of Winners the prior year. Are those wins not good enough? Are Mr. Geir Flyct-Pederson, Mrs. Lydia Hutchinson, Col. Joe Purkhiser, to name a few, not well enough respected Terrier judges? I think it's very insulting to them that this year's judge's opinion is so much more important. Not to mention, it's very insulting to the judges that have awarded him 73 Best in Shows to say he is not a good example of the Breed and he just wins a lot. How about the reality. He wins a lot because he is a good example of his breed.

  15. As a owner handler of a smooth I would just like to say that I am very proud of Dodger. It is nice to have a smooth in the spot light. He is a great example of the breed and I wish him and Amy the best of luck. My respect goes out to all the judges who have placed him.
