GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up with a report on the Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse. Matisse and handler Michael Scott were at Purina Farms in Grey Summit MO this weekend sweeping the three day set, winning all three Bests in Show.

Friday’s Missouri Rhineland Kennel Club final featured judge Carl Liepmann, Matisse, the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Agha Djari Eye Candy Of Sura, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants on Fire, the RBIS, the Pug, GCH CH Careva’s Boodelicious, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation.

At the MRKC’s day two final judge Stephanie Hegepath picked Matisse and the aforementioned Border Terrier out of a lineup that included the returning English Setter, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Under the Influence, the same Pug, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowats Gladiator, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CHSundance Ringside Rumor.

GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock N Rolla

 Judge David Jay Hyman would prefer Matisse for Sunday’s MRKC BIS and the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Garcini Rangels Rock N Rolla, for the RBIS. Joining them were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the above named Afghan Hound, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the French Bulldog, Major League Golden Ticket, and the previously seen Corgi. Five months into the year Matisse has 53 BIS and 68 Working Groups.

OLEAN KENNEL CLUB

CH Kuriann of First Avenue 

Judge Carolyn Herbel closed the four day set in Dunkirk NY, calling the BIS at today’s Olean Kennel Club show. The seven dogs she considered were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Stoneypoint’s Time to Reign, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Kuriann of First Avenue, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergroves Enough Said, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Lamz Strike a Pose, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Silho (Sanchez), the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH legacy’s Power Play.

The two she liked were the Wolfhound, Belgium, and the Chihuahua, Sonnito. It’s the first BIS for Belgium, who was the Hound Group fourth place finisher at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club show. Congratulations to breeder Regine Vandamme and owner Judith P Ryan.

BLOODHOUND & GREAT PYRENEES BIS

GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess

A good word to describe the Bloodhound is “relentless” as they are very determined in the pursuit of their quarry. The Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner's International S'Cess, has been relentless in his defense of his status as the country’s Number One Hound. He finished last week with three BIS and one RBIS and has already collected two Hound groups and one BIS this weekend. 

GCH CH Rivergroves Enough Said

The BIS came at Friday’s Conewango Valley Kennel Club show. Challenging Nathan for judge Houston Clark’s favor were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Stoneypoint’s Time To Reign, the RBIS, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergroves Enough Said, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Adiebabes Griffin in Sanherpinc, the Pug, GCH CH Andi Adonis, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Double R’s Rumstringa.  Nathan is looking to return to the Top Ten Dog All Breeds with ten BIS and 32 Hound Groups.

Nathan and the aforementioned Great Pyrenees & Standard Poodle would all be back at the CVKC’ day two final. Joining them in judge Toddie Clark’s ring were the English Setter, Reidwood Just My Style, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Aliyah’s Who Shot Jr? RN. 

She would like the young Great Pyrenees, Brooks, for her Best and the Chihuahua, Sonnito as her Reserve. It’s the second for the Great Pyrenees wunderkind’s weeks old specials career.

BOW WOW LUAU CLUSTER?

GCH CH Del Zarzosa Salvame From Afterglow 

Exhibitors in Northern California are enjoying their second consecutive weekend in the Sierra foothills with the geographically-confusingLY named Bow Wow Luau Cluster. The Butte County Kennel Club kicked off the four days in the former mining town of Gridley CA, asking judge Dana Cline to choose the stop’s first BIS and RBIS.

His seven options were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Samoyed, GCH CH Axtecas Triple Seven, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Penaire Cash Game at Longvue, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzosa Salvame From Afterglow, and the Beauceron, GCH CH De Joie Du Chateau Rocher CA CGC. 

Judge Cline’s BIS was the Poodle, Dino, and his RBIS, was the Papillon, Jackson. Dino is the Number Three Non-Sporting Dog with four BIS and 29 Non-Sporting Groups in 2014.

PUG BEST IN MISSISSIPPI

GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor 

One of the most fun venues this week is Biloxi MS where the Riverside West Kennel Club Of Greater New Orleans opened the four day Pelican Cluster, a long weekend offering dog shows, casino, beaches, and great seafood. 

GCH CH Phillmar Super Man 

The seven dogs that BIS judge Janet Nahikian saw Thursday were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar’s Masterpiece, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Phillmar Super Man, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Wrightwyn’s Power Play, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Bulldog, GCH CH Imperious Hamitup Southern Bell, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Travler Kelise Overdrive. 

Day one went to the Pug, Rufus, with the RBIS going to the Doberman, Steel. Pugs are always competitive and this year is no exception. Yesterday’s win was Rufus’ third BIS in 18 trips to the final ring this year and will put him on the heels of the Number One Pug.

Judge Sonny Ambrosio opened the Southern Tier Area Cluster yesterday in Dunkirk NY, calling the final at the Olean Kennel Club. The seven dogs joining him were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Stoneypoint’s Time to Reign, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Bayaway Jersey's Due Process of Law, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay’s Big Sur, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Ardmore Ned, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Silho (Sanchez), the Standard Poodle, Dawin Wildrose Raisin’ The Stakes, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Aliyah’s Who Shot Jr? RN. 

GCH CH Bayaway Jersey's Due Process of Law 

Taking the stop’s first BIS was the Chihuahua, Sonnito. Collecting the RBIS was the Coonhound, Moses. Sonnito has been a regular in the final rings since his debut at Westminster this year. Thursday’s win was his 13th BIS in 24 final appearances this year.

HOLIDAY WRAP UP

GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome 

We wrap the holiday week’s results with results from three western sites. First from Laramie WY where exhibitors spent Memorial Day with the hometown kennel club. BIS Judge Charles Trotter would consider the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Harrier, GCH CH Pacific Happytails Heartbreaker, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peace River’s Gathers No Moss at Sunstra, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cambria's Kid N Play, the Pomeranian, CH Northmoor Victoria Tycoon, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Shadowood Midnight Skye at Marter, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky.

 He would name the Brittany, Beckett, his Best and the 23 month old Pom his Reserve. Beckett headed home from Wyoming with two BIS and two RBIS. That brings the nation’s Number One Sporting Dog’s 2014 resume to nine BIS and 31 Sporting Groups.

GCH CH PaRay Preferential 

Out in the Pacific Northwest the holiday weekend started in Spokane WA with the Spokane Kennel Club’s two shows. The Coeur D'Alene Dog Fanciers took over on Monday when the action moved to that Idaho city. It was the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH PaRay Preferential, making the most of the stop, taking both of the big rosettes.

GCH CH Snoline n Snowater’s On a Roll 

On Monday Satoshi would impress judge Karen McFarlane more than did her RBIS, the Samoyed, GCH CH Snoline n Snowater’s On a Roll, who impressed her more than did the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill’s Murder Mystery, the Saluki, CH Tamazar Braemoor Autumn Breeze, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Benayr Nick of Time, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Pinnacole Winters Feel The Fire, or the French Bulldog, GCH CH Major Leagues Mighty Joe at Winsome.

On Tuesday Judge Christine Salyers Anderson would see the Golden Retriever, CH Pulai’s For of A Kind at Parkwood, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Bakari’s Lor Vitra Caymus, the same Sammie, Australian Terrier, & MinPin, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Newnine Crowne of Queen, before naming Satoshi, her BIS and the MinPin, Phoenix, her RBIS. The two wins brings Satoshi’s 2014 record to two BIS and eight Herding Groups.

GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect 

Our final report for the Memorial Day weekend comes in from Pomona CA where the San Fernando Kennel Club closed the four day Mission Circuit. The final final seven were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Simpatico Equal Justice, the 15 “ Beagle, CH Scentini No Double, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Honor’s Promise Of The Future, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Carmel Still Kidding V Sole Baye, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Trios Big Shot, the Xoloitzcuintli, Mistli, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

GCH CH Honor’s Promise Of The Future 

Judge Peter Green’s BIS was the nation’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the OES, Swagger. His RBIS was the country’s Number Two Great Pyrenees, Michael. Swagger leaves Pomona with three big rosettes and one Reserve Best In Show ribbon. Swagger’s 31 BIS and 57 Herding Groups have pushed him over the 52,000 dogs defeated mark, some 8,000 points behind the Number One Dog.

THREE DAYS IN PLACERVILLE CA

 Northern California fanciers spent the holiday weekend in Placerville CA, in the foothills of the Sierras, with the Hangtown Kennel Club Of Placerville, CA & the Kennel Club Of The California Sierra. 

The HKCPC had Saturday & Sunday spots opting for BIS judge Judith Newton for the day one final. The seven she saw were the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Beechcliff Eye of the Storm, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Akita, GCH CH Redwitch Adreneline Junkie, the Parson Russell Terrier. GCH CH Sream Hi’s Lil’ Surer Dude, the Affenpinscher, GCH Vily’s Apolo Ohno, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline's Unit Of Measure, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Wedgewood's Abracadabra. 

Best went to the Border Collie, Reserve to the Flat Coat. It was the first BIS in five trips to the final ring for the Border Collie, Abby. Congratulations to breeder/owner Debra DeGidio, co-breeders Ken & Ardell Parkin, owner Marty Wall, and handler Tyler Crady. 

GCH CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town 

Sunday judge Walter Pinkster would see the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade's Pay It Forward, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&M's Fear The Beard, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Patriots Designer Girl CGC, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk Of The Town, the Pug, GCH CH Storybooks Perfectly Sirius, the returning Keeshond, Cubit, and Abby the Border Collie. 

GCH CH Promenade's Pay It Forward 

 He would choose the Smooth Fox, Taylor, as his BIS and the Field Spaniel, Gideon, as his RBIS. Taylor is the nation’s Number One Smooth Fox Terrier and Number Four Terrier with three BIS and 13 Terrier Groups. 

GCH CH Skyline's Unit Of Measure 

Judge Garry Newton would close the set with the previously seen Field Spaniel, PBGV, Akita, Smooth Fox, Keeshond, Border Collie, and the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Ultra Quest Look At Me Now. The two he liked were his BIS, the Keeshond, Cubit, and his RBIS, the PBGV, Wilson. Cubit is AKC’s Number Three Non-Sporting Dog with two BIS and 13 Herding Groups.

The Corn Belt Kennel Club and the Illinois Valley Kennel Club Of Peoria shared the four day set in Bloomington IL last week. You can read about Friday’s opener here.

The CBKC had the prized Saturday spot and asked judge Phil Marsman to name his top two. He considered the Brittany, GCH CH Star Flight Jumpin Jack Flash RN OA OAJ, the Whippet, GCH CH Bohem Swan Song, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, the Russel Terrier, GCH CH Appassionato Jp Mon Amour, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Déjàvu I Want’A Talk About Me, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Shilo-Gracele Tennessee Tu Step, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey. 

Finishing one/two were the Chinese Crested, Toby, and the Brittany, Jack. We‘ve had several top winning Chinese crested over the last three years. Toby is the current Number Two Chinese Crested with two BIS and ten Toy Groups this year.

At Sunday’s IVKCP show, BIS judge Thomas Alexander would get a whole new seven, the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Forever’s Secret Ingredient, the Irish Wolfhound, Wildisle Brie Andromeda, the Boxer, GCH CH Nantess Caleno Numero Uno, the White Bull Terrier, CH Glentom Seeking Fame And Fortune, the Pomeranian, CH Char’s Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Alegria Ashton Martin, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Wise Choice Hercule Poirot. 

Wildisle Brie Andromeda 

His BIS was Boxer, and his RBIS was the Wolfhound. It was the first BIS of the year for Uno the Boxer. Congratulations to breeder/owner Tessie Savage, breeder/owner Nancy Savage, and owners Guido & Sue Tafur. 

GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey 

The Corn Belt Kennel Club had the Monday closer and judge Pat Mowbray-Morgan had the final final. The seven dogs who stayed to the end to see her were the Brittany, GCH CH Sovereign’s Chasing Legends, the Greyhound, CH Lorricbrook Royal Picture, the Boxer, Uno, the returning Russell Terrier and Pom, the Dalmatian, CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey. 

GCH CH Appassionato Jp Mon Amour 

The two taking home the last awards were the Puli, Charlotte, and the Russell, Tribute. It was the sixth BIS in 18 final attempts this year for the nation/s Number Two Herding Dog.

MONDAY IN KALAMAZOO

GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse 

The Greater Muskegon Kennel Club closed the five day set in Kalamazoo MI on Monday with the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, collecting his third BIS of the stop. 

GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie 

 Challenging Matisse for judge Randy Garren’s attention were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtins Lookin For Trouble, the RBIS, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowats The Gladiator , and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Traveler Kelise Overdrive. 

 Matisse is the most dominant show dog in three decades with 50 BIS in 65 trips to the final ring this year.
