DAY TWO IN CHICKASHA OK

The country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, added another BIS yesterday to his game leading total, taking the top prize at the day two show of the Canadian Valley Kennel Club in Chickasha OK.

Joining Matisse and handler Michael Scott in Lawrence Sinclair’s final were the Reserve winner, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash's Ruggedly Handsome, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the CH Glentom's Dirty Harry, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Jade East Do You Know the Way to San Jose, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It.

It was the 81st BIS in 118 final appearances this year.  That’s  a 0.686 batting average, not bad.

Mid-Atlantic fanciers started their weekend on Friday at the Salisbury North Carolina Kennel Club show in Concord NC.  Judge Mary Jane Carberry had the day one final and her pick of the Golden Retriever, CH Trailsend Twill Be or Not Twill Be, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the German Pinscher, CH Legacy’s Time to Shine, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab Bayleigh Maid to Honor, the Chinese Crested, CH Shadowfox Blu Taboo Of Diva, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Karizma’s Ike of Edale.

GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded

Finishing on top was the Welsh Terrier, Jennie.  Close behind was the Afghan, Matrix.   Jennie is the nation’s Number Three Terrier with 16 BIS and 61 Terrier Groups.

SURPRISES APLENTY AT DAYTON KC

The big point totals in Columbus OH drew the largest contingent of the Top 100 Dogs All Breeds to today’s Dayton Kennel Club show.  The seven that Anne Katona saw were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Down Datrail Hunting Thrills CD, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King’s Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Toy Poodle, CH Baliwick Behold and Believe, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear.

The dog collecting all those points was the Toy Poodle.  Getting the Reserve ribbon and the photo op was the Dandie.  It was the first BIS and First Toy Group for the 23 month old dog, who fulfills the promise he showed when he went Best of Winners at this year’s Poodle Club of America National Specialty.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Ianthe Bloomquist, owner Mark Waldrop, and handler Chelsay Paul-Grubb.

Today’s Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association final was in the hands of judge Geri Kelly.  Her seven hopefuls were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Dun Myrica Doctor Gonzo of Eagle, the Leonberger, GCH CH A Feiner Eros, the Colored Bull Terrier,GCH CH Banbury Bedrock Bright Star Bright, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, CH Silver Bluff Mahogany Sonador, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Puli, CH Wallbanger Fringe.

The two she liked were the IWS, Riley, and the Puli, Fringe.  Riley has been coming on strong this last few months.  Today’s win will make Riley America’s  Number One Sporting Dog and the Number Six Dog All Breeds with 20 BIS and 68 Sporting Groups.

Our first report on today’s shows comes in from Ocala FL where the Seminole Dog Fanciers Association asked judge Judy Harrington to choose her top two dogs.  Her options were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouette's All Revved Up, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regimes Thriller of Elmo, a Portuguese Water Dog, Chasinwaves Head Over Keels, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, CH Kaylen’s Just My Style, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

Repeating her Thursday BIS was the MinPin, Classie.  Picking up the RBIS was the Puli, Charlotte.  Classie is the winningest MinPin in AKC history with112 career BIS, including 57 BIS and 110 Toy Groups in 2013.
