We continue our weekend coverage with the news that the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, has picked up her second BIS of the weekend.  The win came at the   in Suffern NY at Sunday’s Rockland County Kennel Club closer.   

Challenging Jewel for Dr Carol White-Moser’s attention were the Golden Retriever, CH Pennylane Jansun Justin Credible, the RBIS, the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet's Annie El Encanto, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Carasel's Valentino, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Rinchen's Blazing Black Icon, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Celebration.

The win is Jewel’s tenth BIS in 15 final appearances this year.  That’s the best record of any dog in America right now.  Nonetheless, she still trails the Number One Dog by almost 4,000 points.

While the prestige and famous faces were gathered in Chicago this week, the numbers were actually larger on the West Coast.  The Silver Bay Kennel Club Of San Diego packed in nearly as many points in their two days as Chicago did in four.  On Saturday  the seven dogs hoping to take home the points from a 1700 dog entry were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Trance Mission JP Cunard Adventure, the Borzoi, GCH CH Majenkir Bookstor Vintage Glamour, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor Flirt's High Flyin' Gladiator, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Chase What Matters, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH PaRay Power & Privilege, and the Canaan Dog, GCH CH Pleasant Hill Magnum Of Samara.

Best went to the Rottweiler, Pilot, and Reserve went to the Bichon, Dominick.  Pilot and handler Perry Payson have been among the Top Ten Working Dogs for the last three years and picked up a Group Four at the Westminster Kennel Club show earlier this month.  This is the second BIS of the year for Pilot.

Pilot and Dominick were back on Sunday to plead their cases with BIS judge David Bolus.  Joining them were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss and Tell, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding V Sole Baye, the Pekingese, GCH CH Dunkirk’s Imagine That, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Briarbrooks All Rights Reserved.

He went with the Bloodhound, Kissy, as his Best and the Clumber, Seymour, as his Reserve.  Kissy now has two BIS this year in five final appearances.

MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Chicago where the prestigious International Kennel Club of Chicago closed the four day set in the Windy City.  Though entries were down a bit this year, the competition was as fierce as ever as no one dog dominated the stop.  You can read about  Thursday’s  Park Shore Kennel Club here.

On Friday the Blackhawk Kennel Club had the hall and they asked  Norm Patton to choose his two best from the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery It's In The Bag, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH GrandgableS The Frat Boy.

Finishing one/two were the Russell, Bosse, and the PWD, Matisse.  Bosse, the only Russell to win a BIS in the US, had to get past the country’s Number One Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky,  in the Terrier Group, to take his third BIS of the year.

The IKCC put Douglass Holloway in the final ring on Saturday with the Cheasapeake Bay Retriever, GCH CH Chesatgar Hudson Bay RN, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queens Amada SL, the PWD, Matisse, the Russell, Bosse, the above named Chin, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Nuuktok's Atka Inukshuk,, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

He would like the same two as his predecessor, but would give the Portie, Matisse, the big rosette, and the Russell, Bosse, the Reserve ribbon.  It’s the fourth this year for Matisse and his first since his final appearance at the Westminster Kennel Club show.

Lorraine Boutwell would bring it home on Sunday for the IKCC gathering up the aforementioned Ridgeback, Wire Fox, Chin, & Corgi, the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH   Country Creeks Smooth Moves, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Finnegan’s Wake, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction,.

Picking up the BIS was the Wire Fox, Sky, while the Schnauzer, Finn, collected the RBIS.  Sky started the year like a house on fire with 18 straight Terrier Groups before finishing Group Two at Westminster.  She still leads the field by better than 5,000 points with seven BIS and 24 Terrier Groups.

Down in Tallahassee FL the Greater Panama City Dog Fanciers Association and the Ochlockonee River Kennel Club Of Florida are hosting four shows.  You can read about Thursday’s PCDFA show here.

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici

Friday’s GPCDFA final was called by Beverly Capstick.  She chose her two winners from the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Fieldstone Carousel Hell's Kitchen, the Whippet, CH Bo-Bett s Quick Pick, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Nanhalls Koichi H-Kel Terrydale, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Jade East Do You Know The Way To San Jose, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.

Her two were two of 2012’s Top Ten Dogs All Breeds, the Number Three Dog, the Doberman, FiFi, and the Number Six Dog, the MinPin, Classie.  It was the eighth big rosette of 2013 for Classie and owner/handler Armando  Angelbello.

The ORCKF took over on Saturday, ending the day with BIS judge Jan Paulk in the final ring with the Parti-Color Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Conquest's This Is It!, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Lokavi´s Battle Flag Of The South, the Saint Bernard, GCH CH Jamelle's Aristocrat V Elba, the previously mentioned Lakeland, the Papillon, GCH CH Wildfire On the Record, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Kan Sing Tenzin, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

She went with the biggest and smallest among them, the Saint, Aristocrat, and the Papillon, Greta.  Aristocrat has collected two BIS in four final appearances this year after fighting his way out of  some very tough Working Groups.  Aristocrat was one of the big media stars at Westminster, sought out by just about every media outlet.  No wonder we think he is a DOG2WATCH.

We have 21 all breed shows in six different venues this week.  Let’s check in and see how they have been going.  New York fanciers are in Suffern NY for three shows with the Wallkill Kennel Club and the Rockland County Kennel Club.  The WKC had the Friday opener and they asked Roberto Clemente to choose his top two from the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Robin Crest Edelmarke Investigator, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Siberian Husky, CH Snowfire's Holy Moses, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me A Spot, the Havanese, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm Qbin Who's On First, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Rinchen's Blazing Black Icon, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It.

The two he liked were the Foxhound, Jewel, and the Lakeland, Spot.  Jewel has been the country’s Number One Hound for the last two seasons and already has nine BIS in just 14 final attempts.

Bonnie Threlfall had the RCKC’s day one final and her pick of the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc N Camelot's Heaven Can Wait, the Foxhound, Jewel, the Samoyed, CH McMagic's Mojo, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act By Hallsblu, the Maltese, GCH CH Ta-Jon’s Pawsitively Pawparazzi, the aforementioned Tibetan Terrier, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Celebration.

She chose a new two, the Maltese, Snapshot, and the Tibetan Terrier, Michael.  Snapshot is another dog catching the Westminster Wave after making the cut in the Toy Group at the Garden.  It’s the first of the year for Snapshot and owner/handler Tim Lehman who finished 2012 with two BIS and eight Toy Groups.  Congratulations to Tim and breeder/owner Tammy Simon.
