FRANKLIN TN FRIDAY

CH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind

We had hoped that we would be well enough to make at least one of the Franklin TN shows, but, alas, it was not to be. Our apologies to all those we had planned to meet and our special apologies to the Cairn exhibitors who had been counting on our entry.

Equally, frustrating is the missed opportunity to see some of the nation’s best dogs this weekend. Friday’s Tullahoma Kennel Club of Tennessee show featured Elizabeth Muthard in the final ring with the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter's Mt View Lookout, the Scottish Deerhound, CH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, the Siberian Husky, CH Topaz T.R.O.U.B.L E., the Norwich Terrier, CH Skyscot's Poker Chip, the Pekingese, CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Schipperke, CH Dante Fire When Ready, the German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek's Sangria V Barick.

BIS went to the Deerhound, Hickory. She has been incredibly dominant in her Group wining three quarters of the Groups she has appeared in for a total of 19 Group wins.

OFF AND RUNNING

CH J'Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice

We are taking advantage of the absence of our hovering angel of mercy this morning, to catch up on the latest show results. Michele Billings had the call Friday at the day two show of the Kennel Club of Greater Victoria in San Antonio TX.

She chose her Best from the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Casablanca's Thrilling Seduction, the Greyhound, CH Grandcru Clos Erasmus, the Boxer, CH Bravo N Sunset Stealing Time, Thursday’s BIS winner, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J'Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Maltese, CH Rhapsody's Too Many Remarks, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Vaje's Miss Jayne Hathaway, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Kridler's Nutmeg V. Signature.

We have to admit that we are a bit surprised that we have another Terrier running away with the top ranking, that is until we realize that it is the Smooth Fox, Dodger handled by Amy Booth. This couple appears to be intent on leaving everyone else behind this year. Friday’s win gives them sixteen BIS, twice as many as any other contender.

NASHVILLE KC

CH Fireside’s Spontaneous Combustion

We had planned to be in Franklin TN this weekend before the flu intervened. Patricia Trotter called the first BIS of the stay for the Nashville Kennel Club on Thursday. Her options were the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, CH Fireside’s Spontaneous Combustion, The English Foxhound, CH Foxrhodes Virgil's Morgan, the Tibetan Mastiff, CH Seng Khri Bartok Of Dawa, the Border Terrier, CH Devon Lady Simper Fi, the Shih Tzu, CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Schipperke, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek's Sangria V Barick.

Her Best was the WPG, Buster. That’s number three this year for Buster& handler Michelle Scott and suddenly we have a brand new Sporting Group.

WE'RE NOT DEAD YET

CH J'Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice

As some of you have surmised, we have been in bed with a particularly nasty bug for the past four days. We’ve cajoled our wife, Nurse Ratched, to let us have our netbook long enough to post some results.

Lorraine Bouwell opened the four day stop in San Antonio TX for the Kennel Club of Greater Victoria. She had a truly sublime seven including the Golden Retriever, CH Gold-Rush Rag Time Cowboy, the Greyhound, CH Grandcru Clos Erasmus, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Kenro's Happy Hour, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH J'Cobe Kemosabe Vigilante Justice, the Pekingese, CH Franshaw Hear Me Roar, the Bichon Frise, CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Kridler's Nutmeg V. Signature.

She chose the country’s number one dog all breeds, the Smooth Fox, Dodger. We have that Dodger’s 15th big one, but it could just be the fever. Thanks to all of you that sent inquiries about our health.

TWO BIS WINING BORDERS

CH Devon Lady Semper Fi

The nature of the blogosphere is that we make lots of errors. The reality of the matter is that we cover so much data in such an abbreviated time that errors are an accepted part of the business. Happily, we have such loyal and knowledgeable readers that our errors are brought to our attention quickly.

This morning we reported that the Border Terrier, CH Tyrolian Eight Belles At Meadowlake, was the only Border to win an all breed BIS this year. While we did check those stats in the usual places, the traditional sources are only current through 31 January. Had we searched our own archives we would have seen that we reported that the Border Terrier, CH Devon Lady Semper Fi posted back2back Bests in Hobb NM on February 6th & 7th.

We are delighted to be reminded that we have two BIS winning Border Terriers this year. And we thank all you who wrote to us to tell us so.

HILTON HEAD DOUBLE HEADER

CH Shoal Creek’ Sangria V Barick

We had a full schedule this weekend and while we were able to keep up with a lot of the shows around the US, here’s some of what we missed.

The lone east coast offering this weekend was in beautiful Hilton Head SC where the Hilton Head Island Kennel Club gave us two shows. The German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek’ Sangria V Barick, owned the weekend, taking both top awards.

On Saturday, Terry Stacy’s stellar seven included the GSD, Rhea, the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter's Mt View Lookout, the 15” Beagle, CH Skyline's Big Wheel, the Boxer, CH Winfall I Dream Of Style, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Lonestar's Wicked Good, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, CH Belle Shoals Sir Winston C, and the Schipperke, CH De Lamer Pink Flamingo.

SUNDAY IN DETROIT

CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle

Yesterday we predicted that the Bulldog, CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, would likely be a contender again this year for the number one Non-Sporting dog. Today she collected her second BIS of the weekend taking the top prize at today’s Detroit (MI) Kennel Club show.

Also in Judith Goodin’s final were the Irish Setter, CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, the 15” Beagle, CH Torquay Midnight Confession, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Pepper Tree Zorro V Morgenwald, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, CH King's Mtn Fievel Mousekewitz, and the Pekingese, CH PalaceGarden Malachy.

However, Uli may have won two BIS this weekend, but the other two top Non-Sporting Dogs in the top three also won Bests this weekend. We will have to wait until all the numbers are in to determine a final ranking.

SUNDAY IN BELLEVILLE IL

CH Jaset's Satisfaction

Dana Cline saw six of Saturday’s finalists today at the second round of the Belle-City Kennel Club in Belleville IL. The Gordon Setter, CH Firethorn and Sandpiper's Easy On The Eyes, the Whippet, CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Boxer, CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Border Terrier, CH Devon Lady Simper Fi, the Pug, CH Riversong's Broadway Joe, and the Bearded Collie, CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins, were all repeaters from the day before.

But it was the Standard Poodle, CH Jaset's Satisfaction, making his first appearance of the weekend who walked away with the BIS. London now has four all breed Bests to his name this year.
