BIG WIN 4 A BIG DOG


We usually have to wait on mid Atlantic results, but we have the outcome of today’s Talbot Kennel Club show in Easton MD.

CH Dun Myrica Speaker Of Eagle

This show had some of dogdom’s heavy hitters competing for Best In Show. Kenneth Falconi’s finalists were the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, CH Firesides Spontaneous Combustion, the Irish Wolfhound, CH Dun Myrica Speaker Of Eagle, the Rottweiler, CH Blackrocks Kazanova, the Airedale Terrier, CH Stirling Cool Hand Luke, the Italian Greyhound, CH Honore’s Lily-Belle, the Miniature Poodle, CH Splash Di Caprio, and the Australian Shpherd, CH Mysharas Dream Girl.

It was Tip, the Wolfhound, picking another BIS. Tip, already a top twenty dog, will move up a couple of places in the rankings with this win.

NEW ENGLAND RESULTS

Hot off the MBF presses, the Wachusett Kennel Club has shut it down for the day in Fitchburg MA.

Edd Bivin collected a formidable group of the Labrador Retriever, CH Casbar’s Hart To Hart, the Bloodhound, CH Soonipi Dncin In The Moonlite MLH, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Allure Blazing Star Alisaton, the Irish Terrier, CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Maltese, CH Ta-Jon’s Who’s Your Sugar Daddy?, the Chinese Shar-Pei, CH Willo’s Caught You Lookin’, the Bearded Collie, CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

His BIS was the nation’s number two dog all breeds, the Doberman, CJ. CJ has opened a substantial lead on the field, but we don’t know if she has enough time to catch number one. We do know it’s going to be fun watching her try.

DOUBLE DOWN IN MUNCIE

We have today’s results from the Muncie (IN) Kennel Club show where Ralph Menacker had the Best In Show duty.

His lucky seven were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout, yesterday's BIS winner, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Rokeena Carte Blanche, the DobermanPinscher, CH Foxfire Smoke On The Water, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune, the Smooth Chiuahua, CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Standard Poodle, CH Bar-None Dawin Travelin' Man and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Tim Tam Avant Garde.

It was the PBGV, CeeJay repeating yesterday’s win. And to celebrate we have a brand new photo of CeeJay and handler Jane Alston-Myers.

FRIDAY IN WISCONSIN

We have yesterday’s results from the Wisconsin Rapids Kennel Club show in Marshfield WI.

Charles Bett’s finalists were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Tagalong N Shamrock Irish Eyes, the 13” Beagle, CH Seventhsons Guns N Pettycoats, the Giant Schnauzer, CH Tanglewood Bocephus, the Norwich Terrier, CH Skyscot`s Poker Chips, the Shih Tzu, CH Ista`s Tearin`it Up, the Tibetan Terrier, CH Ri Lee`s Diamond Heirloom, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Quiches Demetrius.

His BIS was the three year old Springer, Sully. Congratulations to breeder Sarah Kraft and owner/handler Cyndi Myhre.

ANDERSON KC RESULTS

We just got this in from Muncie IN where it was the Anderson Kennel Club’s turn to host.

Kitty Stiedel’s finalists today were the German Wirehaired Pointer, CH Ripsnorter’s Mt View Lookout, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Rokeena Carte Blanche, the Siberian Husky, CH Topaz T.R.O.U.B.L.E., the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune, the Pomeranian, CH Mountain Crest U Don't Own Me, the Chow Chow, CH Liontamer's Dial 1-800-Hotstuff, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek's Sangria V Barick.

BIS went to the country’s number one Hound, the PBGV, CeeJay. Did you see CeeJay and handler Jane Alston Meyers on the cover of this months Canine Chronicle?

TERRIER THURSDAY

We had shows in two locations yesterday. The Muncie Kennel Club opened a four day stop in Muncie IN with Joe Walton looking over the BIS candidates.

They were the Gordon Setter, CH Firethorn & Sandpiper Easy On The Eyes, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, CH Adili's American Idol, the Siberian Husky, CH Topaz T.R.O.U.B.L.E., the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Soldier Of Fortune, the Papillon, CH Star Sign's Trickn' St.Nick, the Standard Poodle, CH Bar-None Dawin Travelin' Man, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Shoal Creek's Sangria V Barick.

BIS went to Scott Sommer & his Lakeland lady, Ranger. Ranger and Scott have put together an impressive string of wins this past month and are hoping to improve on last year’s finish as the twelfth highest scoring dog in AKC conformation.

Meanwhile, out in Topeka KS, Sari Brewster Tietjen was opening a five day fun fest for the Topeka Kennel Club. Her final included the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH Exl’s Leather N Lace, the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Gleneagles Whos Famous Now, the Boxer, CH Bravo N Sunset Stealing Time, the Scottish Terrier, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot, the Affenpinscher, CH Tamarin Tug, the Lhasa Apso, CH Rushmars Charmer, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, CH Heart Of Gold Power Play.

And it was Gabriel Rangel & the Scottie, Sadie, picking up career BIS number 71. This Terrier twosome maintains an almost insurmountable lead in the race for number one.

MINNESOTA CHECKS IN

We know that it’s not exactly timely, but we do want to make sure we are giving you a complete look at the nation’s AKC shows.

Last weekend’s results are in from the Kennel Club of Freeborn County Minnesota in Albert Lea MN. Saturday, lining up for Patricia Trotter’s approval were the Irish Setter, CH Winwood Inferno, the American Foxhound, CH Devlon’s Fame And Fortune, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Marienburg Inauqui Sukiyaki, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Max-Well’s Mr Cruise, the Shih Tzu, Isa;s Tearin’ Up, the Bichon Frise, CH Bell Creek’s I Love Lucy, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Marquise Stealing The Show JC.

Her BIS was the GSD, Oscar. We haven’t seen much of this outstanding boy this year. Now that he has a Best In Show under his belt perhaps we sill see him more often. Congratulations to breeders/owners Liz & Doug Oster and co-owners Frank & Kris Fasano.

Sunday, Dr Alvin Krause would see the same Foxhound, Doberman, & Bichon along with the Golden Retriever, CH Shore’Line Jetoca High Seas Adventure, the Wire Fox Terrier, CH Smywyr Make My Day, the Affenpinshcer, CH Indunna Ott, Oliver Twist, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Lambluv Daydream Believer.

The Doctor’s Best In Show was the Foxhound, Junior. It’s the third BIS this year for Junior and handler Stan Flowers.

THIS WEEK'S OFFERINGS

This week we have two sites for those cluster cravers. The first is a five day feast starting Thursday in Topeka KS. The Topeka, Manhattan Kansas, & Jesse James Kennel Clubs will host. Also starting Thursday is a four day funfest sponsored by the Muncie & Anderson Kennel Clubs. The Wisconsin Rapids & Marshfield Area Kennel Clubs will team for a trio of shows Marshfield WI beginning Friday.

The remaining nine locations are all offering Saturday/Sunday shows. Starting in New England, we have the Wachusett Kennel Club in Fitchburg MA, and in neighboring New York state, the Tioga County Kennel Club in Oswego NY. Next we go to the mid Atlantic for the Talbot Kennel Clubs two shows in Easton MD before we head to St. Clairsville OH where the hometown St. Clairsville Ohio Kennel Club hosts.

Odessa Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park

In the heartland the Burlington Kennel Club will hold their shows in West Burlington IA while the Greeley Kennel Club will stay home in Greeley CO. We have only one west coast offering, the Olympic Kennel Club shows in Enumclaw WA, but we do have shows in paradise, Ewa HI, to be exact, thanks to the West Oahu Kennel Club.

RACINE RESULTS

Despite the bad weather the Greater Racine (WI) Kennel Club managed to stage their two shows Sunday and Monday.

His finalists were the Curly Coated Retriever, CH Esldrn Farm’s Zoot Suit Riot RN, the Borzoi, CH Auroral’s Ajax, the Rottweiler, CH Cammcastles Friar Tuck, the Border Terrier, CH Tyrolian Eight Belles At Meadowlake, the Papillion, CH Wingssong Rock Star, the Standard Poodle, CH Dawin Spitfire, and the Border Collie, CH Border Lane Jp Talisman Forever.

BIS went to the Border Collie, Kahnal, a seven year old Japanese import. Congratulations to breeder Tatsuki Oneyama, owners Nancie Mages, C Hamilton, Y Oneyama & L Somers, and handler Kimberly S Halcom.

Monday, Linda Scanlon saw the same Border, Curly Coat, and Standard Poodle along with the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry’s Foolish Pride, the Samoyed, CH Polar Myst X-Tasy, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Max-Well’s Violet, and the Pomeranian, CH Mountain Crest U Don’t Own Me.

BIS went to the Poodle, Spitfire, one of several great Standards we have seen this year. That’s number six this year for her and handler Sarah Riedl.

BACK2BACK 4 A NEW DOG2WATCH

We’ve worked our way all the way to sunny California where the South Bay Kennel Club gave you a twofer this weekend in Torrance. We were able to tell you Saturday’s results, but here’s what happened Sunday.

Jon Cole’s finalists all had to make it out of talent packed groups. They were the English Setter, CH Artizoe High Caliber, the Saluki, CH Shiraz Dreamweaver, the Portuguese Water Dog, CH Aviators Luck Be A Lady, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Jaeva Gold Auric, the Brussels Griffon, CH Cashin's Walk The Line, the Chow Chow, CH D-Jin Gang Of Anna Kennel, and Saturday’s BIS winner, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Maplecreek Back In Black.

And it was a twofer for the Corgi as he wins his second BIS in as many days and over very tough competition. That’s all we need to know to say this is a DOG2WATCH. We thank the very talented Carol Beuchat for this lovely photo.
