WWW: THE WORKING GROUP

Only one Boxer will make it to Tuesday night’s Working Group.  We think these four dogs are likely to be in the final cut as well.

The Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Luck Be A Lady, is sure to be called out as representing the breed owned by the First Family.  We hope it is mentioned that Ladybug is the top winning Portie of all time.  In 2010 she was the Number Three Working Dog with 12 BIS and 45 Working groups.  She is off to a great start this year, currently ranking as the Number One Working Dog.  Ladybug was bred by Craig Kuehn, Suzanne Kuehn, & Cathy Dugan, is owned by Mike & Cathy Dugan, Jerson Valle & Victor Malzoni Jr, and is handled by Amy Rutherford.

CH CH Cammcastle’s Friar Tuck

Last year’s Number Two Working Dog and Number 13 Dog All Breeds, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Cammcastle’s Friar Tuck, finished 2010 with 17 BIS and 63 Group Bests.  Tux and handler Holly Eldred already have three BIS this year.  Tux was bred by Susan Otto & Angela Payne, and is owned by Anthony & Vicky O'Brien.

GCH CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence

The Kuvasz is one of our rarer breeds and fanciers this year  will be treated to the top one in AKC history, GCH CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence. Tanner finished 2010 with five all breed BIS and 23 Working Group Firsts last year.  He now has a career total of eight BIS.  Tanner was bred by Beatrice Page, Clay Page, Lynn Brady, & Constance Townsend, is owned by Mercedes Vila, Lynn Brady, Constance Townsend, & Claudia Muir, and handled by Diana Wilson.

GCH CH Nakodo’s Reign Of Glory

The Akita is one of AKC‘s more popular breeds and  GCH CH Nakodo’s Reign Of Glory is a glorious example of the breed.  Echo was 2010’s Number One Akita and Number Four Working Dog, garnering ten BIS and 44 Working groups.  She was bred by and is owned by Keith Venezia and handled by Paul Levesque.

  1. Its a tough decision to decide between the Rotti and Kuvasz or the Boxer.I have seen all three of them in person at shows.Since there can't be a three way tie to win the group I would have to choose the Rotti. There is something about a Rotti.

  2. Its got to be Tanner! He is the Kuvasz breed standard brought to life. And he is even more incredible in real life!

  3. I have my fingers crossed for Holley and Tux - such a deserving pair! And it would do the country some good for some good press for a Rottie who I've personally seen play with children and Toy breeds...

    GO TUX!

  6. ahh, too many good dogs to choose from! my heart is with the Kuvasz or Rotti, but i have a feeling this year it will go to the Porti, Ladybug!!!
they are all three excellent representations of there breed!
(though i expect Ladybug to take the group, i will secretly be cheering on Tanner and Tux!)

  7. Thanks for making my decision to stay home and save a lot of money so much easier. There will be one less dog shown at Westminster. Who can beat all the hype? There are other and in some cases, better dogs entered but they don't have the six figure backing these dogs do. No wonder entries are down.

  8. Hopefully many judges will attend the Kuvasz Club of America judges education seminar in Louisville KY. Many truly good examples of the breed will be on hand.

  9. 4:43- Not all of these dogs will even make it out of their breed. Every year, we see dogs emerge that few would predict, that's the fun in the dog show, nothing is guaranteed, and to some, winning isn't always the point of showing. I'll continue to day dream about having the chance to show my dog there, and if I ever get the chance, I'll go regardless of who's getting the hype, and who has better backers because to me, it's the icon of American dog shows. One day...

  11. My vote is for "TEAM TUX." I think the rottweiler is a true ambassador for the breed. And he is also a beautiful dog.
