GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky

The Montgomery County Kennel Club show is always a memorable
event. Attendees at this year’s show took some bittersweet memories home after a somber announcement was made just before the
group judging. It was announced that Walter Goodman, MCKC’s President
Emeritus, had passed away just two hours earlier. As a second generation Skye Terrier breeder, Walter’s
name was synonymous with the breed, introducing the breed to the entire world
in 1969 when he showed his home bred Skye, CH Glamoor Good News to Best In Show
at the Westminster Kennel Club show, the only time a Skye has won the fabled
event.
Skye Terriers were front and center at this year’s event
with 88 entries celebrating the breed’s Diamond Jubilee. Judge Roberta Campbell had all 31 Terrier
Breeds in her group, most of which are currently the Number One Dog in their respective breeds. Judge Campbell’s top four were the country’s
Number One Terrier and Number One Dog All Breeds, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH
AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Number Two Terrier and Number Eight Dog All
Breeds, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Number Four Terrier,
the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye, and the
Number Six Terrier, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a
Spot, in that order.
Sky has now gathered two jewels of the Terrier Triple Crown,
the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the Montgomery County Kennel Club
show. Is it too early to talk about
Westminster 2014? Maybe. Besides we dog people are superstitious. We won’t talk about that just yet. We do
know this, today’s win puts Sky almost 18,000 points ahead of all other dogs
this year.
Love that photo by Miguel, the colors are wonderful and look at her beautiful neck!
