FRIDAY IN WEST VIRGINIA

GCH CH Cerise Blindside 

Judge Beth Speich was in Morgantown WV for today’s Mountaineer Kennel Club final. The seven dogs she considered were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon's Sanjaya, the St Bernard, GCH CH Aksala’s Peyton CGCA, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Whiskybae Lochraven Lollypop, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus' Rumor Has It V Kenlyn.

Her Best was the Springer, Timmy, and her Reserve the Dalmatian, Flash. It was Timmy’s fourth BIS in 14 trips to the final ring this year.

BEAGLE BEST IN ILLINOIS

GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory 

With 351 entries Thursday’s Champaign Illinois Kennel Club show in Decatur IL was one of the smaller shows we will see this year, yet it drew formidable competition. Among judge Victoria Johnson’s were several top ranked BIS winners. They were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf's Trouble Coming CGC, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Torquay S Ravel, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country's Tag I'm It, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH Kunniaka’s Whizz Bang Wallop, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv' Sultry Sensation.

Our first results this week are from the South Hills Kennel Club who opened the four day Black Diamond Cluster in Morgantown WV.  Judge Chuck Winslow chose his top two dogs from the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time To Thrill, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon's Sanjaya, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto's Speak Of The Devil, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Fyrewyre Fit To Be Tied, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Bluvali Players Paradigm, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus' Rumor Has It V Kenlyn.

Going to the head of the line was America’s Number Six Dog All Breeds, the Peke, The General, followed by the GSD, Rumor.   It was The General’s fourth straight BIS, his eighth in the last month, and his tenth in 31 final appearances this year. The General is on the march.

The Havanese, GCH CH Peluito's Papi Chulo, was judge Dr Steve Keating’s Best In Show at today’s Lewis-Clark Kennel Club show in Lewiston ID. Dr Keating also liked the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, whom he named his Reserve. Rounding out his final were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill's Drama'geddon JH RATN, the Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dawa's Primo Argento Gomez At Tiems, the White Bull Terrier, Lordbull Larry, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Blackflash Star's Comet, and the Norwegian Buhund, GCH CH Jotunn Bella Binna.

 It was the first BIS of the year for the three year old dog. Congratulations to breeder/owner Arlene Etzig, owner Lynn Curtis, and handler Andy Linton.

The Catoctin Kennel Club extended the weekend into Monday, putting judge Grace Fritz in the final ring. The seven who joined her were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Black and Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Bayaway Jersey's Due Process Of Law, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Big Beach's Rhumba Man, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Seagryphs Sleeping With The Anemone, the Bichon Frise, CH Barberry's Take A Chance On Me, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Steeler Nation.

Taking the BIS was the Rottweiler, Rico Collecting the RBIS was the Skye, Charlie. Rico is another one of our well-bred first time BIS winners this weekend. Rico is the son of the multi-BIS winning GCH CH Chancellor Flirt's Hi Flyin Gladiator. Congratulations to breeder Jackie Payne, owner Elaine Namour, and handler Michelle Scott.

Our final Sunday report comes in from City of Industry CA where the Angeles Canyon Kennel Club capped the four day stop. Judge Jackie Stacy had the final final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Sweetgrass White Diamonds, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Wallstreet, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the GCH CH Round Town Queen of Hearts of Maryscot, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Sabe's Simply Invincible, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Country Squire.

Her Best was the Boston Terrier, Vinnie, and her Reserve, the Pom, Danny. It was the four BIS in ten final appearances this year for the nation’s Number Five Non-Sporting Dog.

Judge Terry Carter closed the four day set in Vallejo CA, calling the final at Sunday’s Chief Solano Kennel Club show. The seven dogs that stayed to the end were the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, GCH CH Whiskeytown Si Drakes Gran Legacy CGC, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Bristlecone's ItSuitsMe, the Rottweiler, GCH CH High Hills Holy Smoke BN CD RE CGC, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Stand Back Look Out, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana's Sh-Boom, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline's Unit Of Measure, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Brocade Lil Deuce Coupe BarJen.

The two getting the top awards were the Bouvier, Cooper, and the Keeshond, Cubit. It was the first AKC BIS for the Canadian Cooper. Cooper's father is GCH CH Rocheuses Me And My Shadow Of Cornus, 2012's Number Three Herding Dog and the Herding Group winner at the 2012 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Sandra Brind, Yvonne Savard, & Ray Waterman, owner Janice Brind, and handler Larry Fenner.

GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn 

AKC’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn, started her week in Terre Haute IN where she collected a BIS at Friday’s Bloomington Indiana Kennel Club show. She then moved on to Fond du Lac WI where the hometown Fond du Lac County Kennel Club was offering bigger points.

Judge Carol Herbel named Rumor her BIS and the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Jimmy Choo, her RBIS, on Saturday after considering the English Setter, GCH CH Esquire Fourwinds Traveln Man, the Doberman Pinscher, Holly Wood’s Lucky Charm, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Foxheart’s Rough and Ready, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Lomar Swags One Tin Soldier, and the Tibetan Terrier, CH Ri Lee’s Diamond Hunter.

Sunday Rumor would top judge Pat Hastings other finalists, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, her RBIS, the Saluki, GCH CH Baghdad A Missdemeanor, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Rivergroves Cloudy Bay, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Epoch’s New York Minute, the Pug, Jayar’s Master of The Treasure, and the Lowchen, GCH CH Willowcreek’s Fat Bottom Girl. 

Rumor has built a formidable lead on the field with 26 BIS and 48 Herding groups this year.

Our newest Dog2Watch, the White Bull Terrier, Lordbull Larry, added another BIS to his resume during his first month in the US, collecting the big rosette at Sunday’s Lewis-Clark Kennel Club show in Lewiston ID.

The country’s Number One Sporting Dog, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, added another BIS to his resume, taking the top prize at Sunday’s D'Arbonne Kennel Club in Bossier City LA. 

Joining Beckett in judge Loraine Boutwell’s final were the Greyhound, El Retorno Africa Mis, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Treus The Whole Truth V Touchstone, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Explicit’s Full Throttle To Alpine, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, the Coton de Tulear, CH Mi-Toi’s Icon CM, and the RBIS, the Canaan Dog, CH Caliente Dangerous Gale Force Winds. Beckett is the current Number Four Dog All Breeds with ten BIS and 27 Sporting Groups.

In Columbus OH the Central Ohio Kennel Club had the Sunday spot and they asked judge Karen McFarlane to name their BIS. SHIH TZU BEST IN MARYLAND

Sunday’s Baltimore County Kennel Club show in Timonium MD, with over 1800 entries, offered twice the number of points as most of the shows elsewhere in the US. The Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, made the most of the day, picking up the BIS and all those points.

Judge Sari Brewster Tietjen named Rocket her BIS after considering the Irish Setter, CH Shadowmere's Storm Chaser, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Stonewall Jackson, the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane "N" Blue Monday's Diamonds Are Decadent, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Standard Poodle, CH Adessi Elemental Afterglow, and her RBIS, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush. 

Rocket is the  Number Two Toy Dog and Number Seven Dog All Breeds with five BIS and 42 Toy groups this year.

The Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, continues his spring surge, sweeping the set in West Springfield MA this past weekend.

The latest win cane at the South Windsor Kennel Club show under AKC’s most celebrated breeder/owner/handler, judge Pat Trotter. Challenging The General for the win were the English springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the Basset Hound, Cloverhill's Mr. Independence, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Pouch Cove Goes The Distance, the RBIS, the Airedale Terrier, CH Penaire Cash Game At Longvue, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Iacta Alea Est De La Bete, and the Puli, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm If Not Now, When?. 

The General and breeder/owner/handler David Fitzpatrick have collected seven BIS in the last month, bringing his 2015 record to ten BIS and 30 Toy Groups.

SCOTTIE BIS IN SOCAL

Southern California fanciers are enjoying a four day weekend in City of Industry. The Angeles Canyon Kennel Club had the Saturday spot and they asked judge Polly Smith to name her top two dogs. Her seven options were the GCH CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Walmar-Solo's IOU Sl, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby's Toast with Gusto, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Round Town Queen of Hearts of Maryscot, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Wenrick’s Don’t Stop Believing, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Sabe's Simply Invincible, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Country Squire.

She chose the Scottie, Queenie, as her Best, and the Swiss, Gus, as her Reserve. It was the second BIS of the year for the daughter of 2009’s Number One Dog All Breeds, CH Roundtown Mercedes Of Maryscot.

Judge John Ramirez had the final at Saturday’s Chief Solano Kennel Club show in Vallejo CA. Judge Ramirez chose his top two from the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Brookshire's Croak N Dagger, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Bristlecone's ItSuitsMe, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Seacrest's I'm Not What You Think, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Soquel Millenium Seafarer, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana’s Sh-Boom, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, and the Bouvier des Flandres GCH Brocade Lil Deuce Coupe BarJen.

 We have yet another first time Best In Show to report. The Tibetan Mastiff, GCH CH Dawa's Primo Argento Gomez At Tiems, was judge Walter Sommerfelt’s Best In Show at Saturday’s Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers show in Lewiston ID. 

Challenging Gomez for the win were the English Springer Spaniel, CH Ocoee Away We Go, the RBIS, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Shalreign's The Love Bug, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian JP Rose Queen, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Blackflash Star's Comet, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Wedgewood's Abracadabra.

Gomez is the grandson of GCH CH Seng Khri Bartok Of Dawa, the top winning Tibetan Mastiff of all time. Our congratulations to breeder/owner Dan Nechemias, co-breeder Lois Claus, owner Ariel Brizzola, and handler Ed Thomason. It was Ed who guided Gomez’ grandfather, Bart, to his breed record. We wish Team Gomez luck in following the family legacy.

The Grand Island Kennel Club opened a two day set in their Nebraska hometown on Saturday and put judge Linda Scanlon in the final ring. The seven dogs that she considered were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH My Buddy’s I Belize In The Magic, the Saluki, GCH CH Starlite's Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN JC, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Janwell Midnight Ryder, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Hilltop's GQ Cover Boy, the Schipperke, GCH CH Rivendel's Barefoot Bandit, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Corral West Feel The Sting.

Best went to the Golden, Nicholas, and Reserve to the Cattle Dog, Whip. It was the first BIS for Nicholas and handler Sarah Wintrone. Congratulations to Sarah, breeder Leeah Chew, and owners Jim & Alisa Andras.

At the Shreveport Kennel Club’s day two show in Bossier City LA, judge Dr Dana Ann Smith Massey chose the Boxer, GCH CH Cherkei’s Dick Tracey, as her Best In Show and the Basset Hound, GCH CH By U Cals Monkey On The Bayou, as her RBIS.

Rounding out her seven were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Colored Bull Terrier, GCH CH Glentom’s Dirty Harry, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Sundancer Foxy Lady, and the Canaan Dog, CH Caliente Dangerous Gale Force Winds. 

It was the first BIS of the year for the Boxer, Henry. Henry has come alive in the last three weekends, collecting two RBIS and five Group Ones. Congratulations to breeders/owners Cheryl & Keith Robbins, co-breeder Marjorie Ross, and handler Michael Shepherd.

The Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, made it two in a row collecting the BIS at Saturday’s Pioneer Valley Kennel Club show in west Springfield MA.

Challenging The General for judge Gale Young’s favor were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the RBIS, the Afghan Hound, CH CharterOak BluStar, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Mistel's Can Can, the Airedale Terrier, CH Penaire Cash Game At Longvue, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Canal-Side's Imperator, and the Briard, GCH CH Celebra's Good Time Was Had By All.

The Toy Group continues to be the most competitive of the year with six Toy Dogs among the Top Twenty All Breeds.  Saturday’s win will move The General back into the Number Nine spot in the all-breed rankings, bringing his 2015 tally to nine BIS and 29 Toy Groups.  Five of those BIS have come in the last three weekends.

FIRST TIMER IN TERRE HAUTE

GCH CH Deja Vu Popsakadoo It Is What It Is 

We don’t know whether you’ve noticed, but we have seen a large number of first time BIS winners this year. The Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Popsakadoo It Is What It Is, added her name to that list on Saturday after taking the top prize at the Terre Haute Kennel Club show in that Indiana city.

Joining Izzie in judge Butch Schulman’s final were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Giaconda, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Alisaton Saboteur V Raklyn Ciden, the RBIS, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Abbeyrose Black Diamond, the Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Sanchi Pleasant Surprise, and the Chow Chow, GCH CH Flamingstar Some Like It Hot. 

Not yet two years old, this girl already has a regal outline. We will keep an eye on her. Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Dominique Dube and breeder/owner Terry Miller.

SATURDAY IN OHIO

Judge Joyce Vanek was in Columbus OH Saturday to call the BIS for the Medina Kennel Club. The seven dogs she considered were the Golden Retriever, Rioosobroxden Wrestle With The Figures Of Easthill , the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the Great Dane, GCH GMJ Daneridge LeanMeanGamblingMchine, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Torquay S Ravel, the Chinese Crested, CH Fenomeno Elettrificato N'Co, the French Bulldog GCH Fabelhaft Robobull Tresor Noir, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi GCH Beaguile's Suit Up.

The two she chose were her BIS, the Great Dane, Bookie, and her RBIS, the Beagle, Vicki. It was the first BIS for the two year old dog. This one is only going to get better. Congratulations to breeders Maryann Wilson & Tricia Baxter, owner Gina M Jaeblon, and handler JP Lawrence.

GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue 

The Old Dominion Kennel Club of Northern Virginia spring show is one of the major stops on the dog show calendar. This year’s iteration drew over 1900 dogs to Timonium MD. The seven who made it to judge Gloria Geringer’s final were the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue, the Black & Tan Coonhound, GCH CH Bayaway Jersey's Due Process Of Law, the Neapolitan Mastiff, CH Ironwood’s Paparazzi, the Sky Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Barberry’s Take a Chance on Me, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush.

Grabbing all those points was the BIS, the Springer, Maddux. Picking up the RBIS was the Corgi, Etta. It was the first BIS of the year for Maddux.
